I tried flashing via odin the OH7 base over the OJ1, but that didn't work. Have you flashed Optimum ROM over OJ1 straight away. If so, can you report on stability after a while?
Tnx!

Yes, first OJ1 (+kernel, +root, +twrp). Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik. Flash rom. (I chose the odex version). Booting, no fc's (didn't check logcat yet) But all seems good.
Did it yesterday, so no idea about stability in a few days yet.

To root your device, follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3205019
Ater that you might want to flash a rom, p.e. optimal rom (op says you have to be on OH7, but i can tell you OJ1 is good to). I guess your new to flashing. So here a few instructions

Roms and other stuff (mods) can be flashed with a custom recovery (i can advice twrp to you). To get twrp on your tablet, go to the link above, scroll down and follow the instructions.

To flash optimal rom: read op, download rom on your tablet (odex for a little more smoothness, deodex if you like to custom your rom with mods).

Now te enter twrp: power off, press power + vol. up + home (there are also apps in the playstore which let you boot in recovery (search for reboot)).

Swipe to confirm
Important: back up, before you do anything else
backup
swipe to confirm
when its done, back

Wipe, select data, system, cache, dalvik cache
swipe to confirm
back
install, go to where you saved the rom and select
swipe to confirm
when its done, reboot to system

Hopefully, at this stage, youre happy.

The most important thing with flashing: read op!!

When you're ready look for optimal kernel and see if you wanna flash that too.

Just a simple question. I am on Android 5.0.2 and OJ4. My Tab S2 (810) is rooted and has twrp installed.
Can I flash this rom via TWRP?

Hmmm it seems I've bricked my brand new tab S2.. OJ4

Maybe someone could help me out asap ;).

810 on 5.0.2.

Steps I took

1. Root with odin and cf-auto-root
2. installed twrp from the google store (I'm afraid here it goes...)
3. Launched twrp and choose to backup my tab
4. Rebooted and hanged at the samung logo (black white 1st screen)
5. Didn't response to anything, continued to download mode
6. Decided to skip back-up (I've flashed so many times countless galaxy S model phones)
7. Flashed through odin the 810_oh7_fw_BigBot96.tar.md5 but it FAILS at 99%
8. Tab hanged at download screen.
9. Tried to reboot but now it says "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch PC software.
10. Can acces download mode, can't turn it off.....

Please HELP ;)

Its not bricked. Since you can enter download mode:
First flash a normal stock ROM via Odin. And start all over. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=63591400

(To power off in download mode: hold power and vol-)

Thank you GoldSolitude, that did the job! Except when I've tried to wipe afterwards it sits at the galaxy tab s2 screen again...

---------- Post added at 01:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:16 PM ----------

Solved it. After the format I couldn't get in twrp again. I reflashed it through odin but the tab didn't react to home + vol up + pwr. It just sits there with an empty battery sign. The battery is charged but the animation was frozen. The I reflashed twrp 5.0.2. Then 5.1.1. again at it worked again.. Weird uh.. Anyway, reflashed rom + kernel and have a complete clean install now. Works like a charm! Thanks again!

Official development for OptimalROM has ended.

Reason: I'm pursuing new opportunities both in life and career that currently do not allow much time for Android. I'm starting a business that will have my dedicated time and attention.

Ya'll have been great and I couldn't have asked for a better group to talk and work with. I'll still be around as I still own the TS2. I'm only sorry I couldn't have had more time.

I'll leave the thread open so ya'll can talk amongst yourselves. Enjoy!

Hey all. Sorry for not being here for the past several weeks. There's been a lot going on and spent some time in the hospital. I'm on the mend now so I should have some time to stop by now and then.

For those wondering, yes! I will be updating to latest firmware! Just need to find the time.
