Guys, the development of the new TWRP for this tablet will be postponed some days, because the other day my Fedora laptop which was running all perfectly decided to die after the 5.7 kernel update. :(
So, since 2 days I put OpenSUSE Leap 15.2 and it works fine, but I'm still putting all my things on (because thankfully I could recover my archives, so before installing this distro I recovered them with a live boot USB drive), and I'm still learning how to use the Zypper package manager from them, which is a little bit more complicated than DNF and YUM from Fedora...
I don't want you to miss your confidence towards me, so I apologise if the recovery isn't ready yet

Please don't tell me this rom is dead! It is one of the last hopes for this tablet! I was excited for this....

Hi guys.
I know you're impatient about getting this ROM, but unfortunately I didn't get a lot of help at the team Evolution X, and they won't help either, since they have very strict rules about the quality of their ROMs, so it's clear I won't get anymore help from them.
I was trying to port another ROM, Paranoid Android (Quartz 3) from the OnePlus 3, but I can't repack its system folder I modified because there's no file "file_contexts" and I can't find it in boot.img, maybe because it's a strange ROM (it always was, so).
But the first problem before the ROM itself is the recovery, TWRP, who you know it didn't work and even broke yours, so I'm working on this, and this time instead of porting it on a Windows computer, I'm trying from a Linux computer I have with Fedora 32 and with another method.
So what I'm trying right now is to port TWRP from the Galaxy Tab S2, which has official support and even has the latest TWRP 3.4 released a couple of days ago, to this tablet.
I'll keep you informed in my TWRP thread and I'll test by myself before releasing anything.
I think for the moment this thread about Evolution X will be closed, since I don't think I'll be able to repack the system and test..
Doesn't treble twrp work? It is a higher version and works flawlessly if you count count selinux not enforcing

What happened is that I can't repack the system folder to system.new.dat.br because the file "file_contexts" is missing.
Do you know how can I tell the installer script to install from the system folder? Because otherwise it tells that it couldn't find system.new.dat.br, while it's unpacked as the system folder.
I wonder where are Valera's sources, do you have a link?

No link but if you go to lineage post by op at the bottom of first post you will see sources. While success is guranted if you use it only two speakers will work. I am trying something to see if I can fix that.

Hi!
I just read this thread and really like the idea of my s3 getting a nice ROM...
I don't want to rush anyone, my tab still works fine.
Just am very much looking forward to try this some day :D

is this still the case? No point it downloading the zip from your gdrive and flashing?
no, you shouldn't as it will simply not flash
when I'll be home (in about a month because covid complicated lots of things), I'll try to build with my decent PC a ROM that works (with Valera's sources) since what I did here was just noob crap. (by the way I should contact a mod so they could delete this post).
For the moment I'd recommend you to use rorymc928's debloated One UI.

Hi @seanbaggey

I do not know about this rom but I can report both
[ROM] SM-T820 TWEAKED....................[rom] sm-t820 tweaked
and [ROM][SM-T820][SM-T825][UNOFFICIAL] Lineage 17.1 | Android 10 Q | 20200211 (without S-Pen support)
work after I tried them both myself (finally decided to go back to stock pie and debloat the rom myself from the debloat list provided by rorymc928 --> preserves S-Pen support + further google debloat)
For the moment I'd recommend you to use rorymc928's debloated One UI.

Wait, so does that mean there currently isn't a reliable and fast Android 10 rom for the Tab S3? I really have to go with an older ROM if I want fast and smooth performance?

I'm currently trying the Lineage Android 10 but it's but slow and unreliable and crashed all the time. Messing with performance/clock settings/etc makes no appreciable difference.

Hi seanbaggey
Did you format data before prior to installing LineageOS, i.e. in order to start from a clean slate? And if I remember well, I was already on a CT5 (pie) bootloader when I flashed LOS...
I didn't experience any issue with it but the lack of support for the S-Pen & not all speakers managed as listed and it was fast (faster than the pie stock tweaked by myself - removed all bloatware + disabled google as much as possible- that I currently run)...

Being on the very latest update does not generally always warrant for the best experience in my opinion... try [ROM] SM-T820 TWEAKED....................[rom] sm-t820 tweaked but again try if from a clean slate;I think you need to try it after you tried LOS so you can make your own opinion which best meets your requirements in the end, but be aware it is indeed an "old" device and further development for it is fading... I just got mine a few weeks ago knowingly, in replacement for my TAB 10.1 (2016) still running LOS very smoothly and going to my mum...
I think if we need to talk lineageOS further, we should take this discussion to the LineageOS thread...
