Welcome to the "Energy" ROM thread !

This development thread is the home of my "EnergyROM" custom firmware series for the Asus Transformer Prime TF201 tablet. Here you will find ROMs that I have created for this device over time. My main goal when putting a ROM together is stability but...

I build my ROMs with four main goals.

  • Stability through private beta testing before public release
  • Eye candy ( I want my ROM to look great and for it to all flow together nicely)
  • Speed !!!
  • Smoothness, consistency and good aesthetics

In this thread you'll find several choices of ROMs. Just look at the main download link and make your choice. They're broken down by main Android build number
and whether they're themed (as seen in my screenshots below) or with a STOCK theme ( no screenshots.. we all know what that looks like).

(You can stay up to date on the status of my ROM development by "following" me on Twitter)

Introduction

These ROMs are based on the latest WW/US Jelly Bean release from ASUS. They are rooted, tweaked, debloated and obviously customized a bit with some HTC graphics, for the themed versions.

Features

  • init.d support
  • Updated Gapps included
  • Deodexed, zipaligned, tweaked
  • Busybox + runparts, TitaniumBackup
  • A lot of bloat removed
  • Updated hosts file for ad removal
  • Installation from "unknown sources" checked by default
  • Battery charging animation
  • Dock battery percentage display
  • Ability to swipe away almost all persistent notifications from Asus software
  • You can choose to download a version without all the Asus bloat
  • Google Videos and Movies that you rented play just fine
  • Ability to mount network shares

Credits

  • Google!
  • Flumpster!
  • HTC for some of the borrowed graphics in this ROM
  • ASUS for creating this ROM and our tablets :)

What's in the download link ? You'll find three subfolders.

4.2.1 ROMs contains Themed and Stock official Asus ROMs based on the latest 4.2.1 Release from Asus. You need to flash the 4.2.1 package from Bootloader Packages first, before you attempt to flash one of the ROMs in this folder. YOU CAN CLICK THIS LINK FOR INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS!

Bootloader Packages contains .zip files that are meant to flashed in recovery (just like a ROM). Flashing the 4.1.1 package will install the 4.1.1 JB bootloader/kernel/recovery/partitions on your tablet (in case you want to run older ROMs that require it), while flashing the 4.2.1 package will do the same, but install the latest bootloader/kernel/partitions REQUIRED to install the 4.2.1 based ROMs.

4.1.1 ROMs contains the older JB ROMs, that were made up until December 12th, 2012. You can run these ROMs whether you have the 4.1.1 or 4.2.1 package flashed to your tablet.

So is it a safe assumption this has the JB boot loader since it has the new OC kernel for JB?

I preconfigure a lot of things in my ROM, because when I flash it on my phone, I want it ready to go. So, the ringtone, sms/email and other notifications to already be set. Doing it this way, makes for a nice ROM that's ready out of the box.

I noticed this. I think I will try your ROM asap :)

Nice Job

Very nice job on this ROM, very fast the tweaks are nice and the theming is just right. Is there anyway to uninstall TB so I can install the pro version ? Thank you for your work on this ROM.

Is there by any chance a version or a flash able zip to disable the theme?

    Instructions:

    1. Make a full backup of your internal storage and copy it over to your computer after. Do a "nandroid" or "backup" in TWRP and copy the resulting folder/files to your computer (if you want a backup...)

    2. Download and copy the JB.4.2.1.Bootloader.and.partitions to your tab.

    3. Reboot into recovery and flash the above mentioned file. Reboot.

    4. Wait while the blue line at the bottom is doing its thing. At the top you should see a "signature match" message. This WILL WIPE YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE. Which is why I recommend a backup! Do not, for ANY REASON, turn off your tablet while this is happening.

    5. After step 4 is done... the tablet will NOT boot normally. You need to manually reboot and get back into Recovery. Hold power and volume down and choose "RCK".

    6. Either using an sdcard or adb, copy over the actual ROM zip and flash it! Reboot... and... Enjoy.
