wow, did not expect an actively developed rom for this device, so glad I checked. Thanks for your work on this device.

Is there a priority on the known issues?, like the order, out of curiosity.

I replaced the usb port of my tablet, flashed the new version and tested the mic with the Alexa app: is working fine. Thanks for the fix!
The only thing I miss is the ability to invoke the app when the screen is off like I had on the original rom but I suppose I cant have all.
Since the tablet is used as a media player and in the same room I now have a little amazon flex I'm fine!

Is there reason why I can't install netflix app?
Your Google PlayStore istn't certified. Because of this Netflix an some other Apps wont show up in the Playstore.
You can bypass this with Magisk.

1. Deinstall Netflix/clear Data&Cache Playstore
2. You download Magisk23.apk and rename it to Magisk23.zip, flash it via TWRP Recovery
3. After Reboot, Launch Magisk und install the App, enable "Magisk Hide" in Options
4. Install MagiskHideProps directly through Magisk search or ZIP, reboot
5. Install Termux
6. Type "su" and grant root , then "props" > "1" > "f" > "7" > "15" > "3"
7. Reboot, clear Cache/Data Playstore and login again. Device should be now certified.

Now your Tablet has the Fingerprint of the Google Pixel XL, of course you can pick any Phone. But this is my personal Favorite :)

Or you just install the APK manually.

PS: A little "Like" would be nice 😄 if I could help you!

Thanks I'll try this

EDIT: IT WORKS AHHHH! THANK YOU!

ORIGINAL: Currently installing on my giza tablet. Thank you so much for bringing this old device back to life!

I've been following the Fire HD 8 2016 dev threads for years, but stopped after we got root in 2019. Then suddenly I got a email from xda saying about ROMs getting developed for the older 2016 and 2017 models. Immediately followed the instructions for TWRP (didn't know they got it working as well!) and here's hoping it works!

Roritz2, the performance tweaks to the kernel you made are great but what would make it better is if you increase the ZRAM File size preferably a size like maybe one or two gigabytes of ZRAM.
The RAM size it's actually set to 512MB (as in karnak). If you want to try to add more ZRAM, edit fstab.mt8163 and tell us your experience ;) If it works well, I'll increase the size.

From everything that I have read, the limitation on ZRAM is 50% of the physical RAM. I think that @Rortiz2 has taken it to the limit. And thanks to him for doing that!

So I did some more testing with the wifi dropping issue I was having amd it seems to only occur when using 5g wifi. Perhaps its a compatibility issue with my router.

Has anyone gotten Gmail or Google Calendar to work? Gmail installs, but I can never get past the select email screen. As for Google Calendar - that won't even install from the play store.

Then, LOS14.1 will be discontinued soon?? How about deep sleep issue on LOS15.1?
Well, if I get the same status as nougat, I guess I'll discontinue it yeah. Not to mention that LineageOS stopped pushing security patches to the cm-14.1 branch. You can also expect LineageOS 16.0 once 15.1 it's enough stable.

Unfortunately, the Deep Sleep issue is present as well in lineage-15.1. The current list of working/not working features is:
    • Sound - OK.
    • Microphone - OK.
    • Internal Storage (sdcardFS) - OK.
    • External Storage - OK.
    • HW decoding - not working.
    • SW decoding - OK.
    • Photos/Video recording - not working (fair better than nougat).
    • Widevine (DRM) - not working.
    • Wi-Fi - OK.
    • BT - not working.
Once I get BT and DRM working I'll upload the first beta of lineage-15.1.

I've come a long way with LineageOS 15.1 and would like some people to give it a try and give me feedback. If you are interested in testing the first alpha of LineageOS 15.1, write to me privately and I'll provide you more details.
As of now, I only have the douglas version, so giza users will need to wait a little bit until I can build their own version (sorry for this, but my PC takes 4 hours to compile Android 8).

Thanks, @Rortiz2, this is much more than I ever expected. Really great work.

I am very pleased with the Alpha version of 15.1.
@Rortiz2, you have done a very good job once again. It is smooth and fast, I am quite pleased. I also installed Open Gapps ARM64 8.1 Pico without issue.
For anyone having a hard time rooting via Magisk, it is very simple.
    1) Install Magisk Manager.
    2) Extract the boot.img from the ROM and put it on your Kindle (SD Card recommended.)
    3) Back to the Magisk manager, click on install, Method is "Select and Patch file" then point to the boot.img. This will create a Patched_Boot.Img. Note the location.
    4) Flash via TWRP.
If you want more detailed instructions, see https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-magisk/and follow the Case 1 prompts.
