My person just wants to know how to switch from LineageOS 12.1 back to a prerooted rom like version 5.0.5 for example. There is no specific reason. The LineageOS Rom works without problems.

Wipe cache+Dalvik+System+Data
Flash
Pre-rooted image good to go for the latest like 5.2.7.3 Firetv tank
Magisk
Busy box
Wipe cache and Dalvik cache
Reboot and go through the registration.
Also go through the Rooting thread of Firetv tank will help.

How to install it as a system app through ADB?
I need to connect a mouse but I haven't an Y cable. I tried this app: it works on an android tv with android 8.0.0, but I can't pair my phone with lineageos 12 on the firestick.
Hello see if this works it's all trial and error and see what best works as said read the posts in this thread someone did mention.
LineageOS 12.1 Firetv tank has pairing devices problem never worked for me either.
Vysor works well for me PC to TV .

I tried to install it as a system app in system/priv-app or in system/app but nothing works. Even chown root it.
So, no third party method to cast from a phone?
Another question, do anyone tried to install YouTube Vanced?

Vanced needs a mouse so difficult to navigate you can give it a try.

I forgot, I found a solution for a mouse: I installed mouse toggle for android tv, which enable a pointer on the firestick. It works well and no need for any other app or devices.
Anyway, for native chrome casting nothing, for arm 5.1 tvstock gapps nothing, and YouTube Vanced won't install. Tomorrow I'll try to install an old version. Maybe it will work.

The android tv mouse toggle works well love the pointer go to accessibility and give it permissions in services better install it as system app.
Playwithfire is customizing the Fireos with regards to Launcher,settings,Gapps and appstore options etc and needs Fireos.
You have working Gapps for Lineageos 12.1 firetv tank.
Do you have Gapps installed and a working playstore?
Vanced try without the vanced manager only apk since you have mouse toggle installed you can have a play around as said smart tube works well without mouse toggle and ads.
For the gapps, only the core package. Appstore and mouse toggle works flawlessly, the only thing I really miss is chromecasting.

You can pair the remote with the above version and later flash the latest version of Lineageos over and all's good or else change the batteries of remote and go pairing or can reset the remote and then try pairing or a reboot and give it a try should work,hope it helps.......

If your rooted you can use the inbuilt feature of magisk to boot into recovery or can use an app called quick boot or can use adblink to do the same and use Mouse to navigate.
The latest version ain't has the app drawer ,from the previous version install it as system app to show you all the apps as only the Android TV apps reflect at the start.
The Android TV apps work wonderful.

it's the "old" version of LOS 12.1, which came preinstalled on this stick I bought used, version 2020....something, as I have read in the topic that the newer builds can't pair with the remote.
Rebooting to recovery works perfectly fine, if the device is recognized, with "adb reboot recovery".
Mine version has the app drawer and shows the installed apps (also "ORF TVthek", the one, which doesn't start). Said ORF TVthek looks like it starts, screen turn black, turn back to App Drawer... no idea, why the app isn't working.
i have to try if it is working from browser...

Which version of the app you have installed?
App needs Google play services installed.
If so try clearing the cache and data of the app boot into twrp try clearing cache and Dalvik cache and check if it works.
If ain't working try downloading the Android TV app ,you need to try different versions it helps.

Issues:
- Netflix won't play 5.1 audio videos on some TVs.
- Can't pair bluetooth speakers.
- On latest versions of Prime Video text is not show on some buttons.
- Permissive kernel
Installation:
Connect device to pc with a USB cable, don't use tcp adb
- Reboot tank to recovery
- Adb push rom to /sdcard/
- Wipe dalvik cache, cache, data and system if you come from stock or another rom.
adb shell
twrp wipe data
twrp wipe cache
twrp wipe dalvik
twrp wipe system (if it gives error, try adding "/" /system) - Flash Rom:
twrp install /sdcard/lineage-12.1-xxxxxxxx-UNOFFICIAL-tank.zip - Reboot and pair remote, if fails reboot and try again, complete setup wizard.
- Reboot to recovery and install magisk, microG .........

I analyzed the binaries in the stock rom and found the missing patch to get secure video playback working. libstagefright needs to set an special gralloc usage flag. For the devs, here is the source patch for frameworks/av:
