UPDATE: 6 hours later... Exercise caution before flashing this ROM !!

I'm experiencing problems after updating to it. Rebooting kicks me into TWRP with the message RescueParty. This implies that things are not well. Unable to restore any previous TWRP Nandroid backups, doing default wipe operations between each restore attempt. Will now totally wipe and format /data as well as internal storage and try a fresh install with this ROM otherwise I will fall back to the November update from ZJRDRoid.

I'll update later after figuring out what I need to get up and running again.
My 2Gb XT1687 went into the same Rescue Party boot loop after flashing that ROM. I was able to restore my Nandroid backup, but had to dirty flash my last ROM again to be able to boot.

lineage-18.1 is live now

Changelog:
- January security patch merged
- Fixed Safetynet without magisk
- Fixed VoLTE for some users
- Added fix for WiFi Display (Need test)

again i am just posting, all the work done by dev (zjrdroid)

Tried. Almost everything works without problems (background can't be changed by own picture, yet). Less buggy custom ROM I ever tried. No boot loop problem. Good job. Installed with NikGApps basic for Android 11.

Has anyone had success flashing a GothicIV 17.1 ROM to an XT1687 (2GB) since the names changed from TEST to UNOFFICIAL?

I haven't been able to use the Dec or Jan GothicIV 17.1 ROMs, even clean flashing from TWRP, with just GAPPS.
The Jan 2021 ROM booted (after server reboots), but was unable to detect the SIM card.
I am still on the ZJRDroid 17.1 Nov 2020 ROM.

Same for me. Only GothicIV's TEST builds worked. Stopped working with UNOFFICIAL naming... I'm still searching where the source for these builds (GothicIV/ZJRDroid) comes from.

+ 1 for the problem: I've got the XT1685 model, SIM is not detected in December and January builds. The last "TEST..." build works. How can we let the developer know about this problem?

BTW, I figured out how to remove Sample Leanback Launcher:
1. Install another Launcher (e.g. via the Playstore in your Browser)
2. Enable Developer Options and allow ADB-Debugging.
2. Connect Phone to PC.
3. Run "adb shell"
4. Run "pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.example.sampleleanbacklauncher"

Tried to dirty flash gothiciv's Feb 17.1 rom, still a rescue party boot loop. Back to ZJRDriod 17.1 Nov

Installed the 18.1, which worked great, but unfortunately that ROM only has Widevine L3 (also identifies to Google as a Pixel 2); the 17.1 ZJR build still manages to keep L1, so I've upgraded to that from a 16.0 build from last summer. Just retired my G5P, but I use it as backup...

I had been able to download the ROM several days ago. Did a successful install with pico Gapps and Magisk. Encryption is enabled and working properly.
Overall I am very happy with this ROM as I really like the feature set in Lineage OS. I hope your work will continue with this!
Hey, does your camera still work after encryption?

Steps to reproduce the solution to the problem:

1.-Encrypt the phone once LineageOS 17.1 is installed
2.-You will notice the camera no longer works
3.-Make a full TWRP backup (check everything except for System Image)
4.-Flash another rom (in my case it was PixelPlusUI 3.4) + BITGapps
5.-You will notice a boot loop
6.-Wipe everything and restore the backup you did before
7.-Now the camera will work again!

I would like to ask to the people that already installed it,
does GPS works well & fast on the Android 10 rom by ZJR ?

I ask because in every Android 10 rom I tried on Potter, the GPS is super slow to get a fix...
you can actually check with the app GPSTest how much time it takes to get the first fix from the satellites (TTFF)

That's quite important to me as I never install GAPPS/Google services, so I can only rely on the actual satellites fix to get my position...

And that's why I'm still on Android 8.1,
gps fix in under 10 seconds.

Thanks for you work! I use Gothic's latest 18.1 build and everything –even encryption– is running flawlessly!

TBH GPS is not working but I don't use it so it doesn't bother me.

May I ask what gapps are you using? (since you say even encryption is running flawlessly, and I'm having problems again with encryption on 17.1)

    Hello guys...
I'm facing restart issue in custom roms... Is there any solution... ❓❔
    Device = Moto g5 plus (xt1686)
Which ROM are you talking about? The one from this thread? If yes what build? Rooted?
When are you facing that issues?
    More information needed.

I am using (dot os v5.2.1) i am facing this issue in every custom rom not using lineage os... yes device is also rooted
So and "restart issues" is what? Doesn't restart (start?) at all? Please explain the problem. This doesn't happen on lineage ?
Does the problem appear before you're rooted?
    Btw,how are you rooted? Magisk/alpha/Kitsune/kernelsu?
    1
    yes
twrp installed and currently using lineage os
    And using TJW Magisk?
Maybe uninstall/reinstall Magisk (and all modules) ,if that doesn't help maybe reinstall the whole ROM.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10 (Q), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Do the latest builds from @gothicVI contain just security updates or do they also have the latest LineageOS 18.1 changes/updates?
I know LOS Android 11 isn't developed anymore now but I'm on Jan-2021 build.
Only security patches - no backports of features.
Probably no further security patches will be backported though.

Hey, does your camera still work after encryption?
Sorry for taking so long to respond. I had quit following this thread so closely when the 17.1 ROM releases slowed down in the spring.

But back to your camera question...

My camera was hanging a lot! I tried other camera apps and had the same problem.

I did find a fix after a very long search!!! everywhere on the net. And now I'm having trouble even re-locating the post again.

But the essence was a one line shell script that was called killcam:

    #!/system/bin/sh
    kill -HUP `ps -A | grep camera | awk '{print $2}'`

I just keep it in my /sdcard/Downloads directory. I fire up a local terminal on the phone, do an "su" to get a root shell...

    Then I run "sh -x /sdcard/Downloads/killcam

I keep this around and simply have to run it when my camera or flashlight hangs.

Am totally surprised how killing a few camera processes can fix what a reboot or re-installation of the app, or wiping of it's data doesn't solve!

    Riddle me that Batman!
