Hi,

with help from codeworkx and Lumenreaper I was now able to build LineageOS 17.1 for the Tab 4 10 Plus and everything seems to work, including the fingerprint sensor. So I uploaded a new build that includes the May 2021 security patches to AndroidFileHost. It should be possible to dirty flash the ROM over the existing LOS 17.1 build from codeworkx - at least this is what I did successfully.

The ROM is based on codeworkx code and simply includes the latest LineageOS 17.1 updates since December last year. The instructions how I built this ROM version can be found here.

I've a Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus running the latest version of Lineage OS 17.1 (The May build) but my internal storage isn't visible on MiXplorer (The file explorer I use) but only on the default file explorer.
I tried Solid Explorer but the internal storage isn't visible there too.
Only the microSD card is visible.
How can I solve this issue?

I have checked with the X-plore file manager, which is able to access the internal storage with the ROM. So we have the X-plore file manager and the internal file explorer working, while the MiXplorer and the Solid Explorer aren't. You could try X-plore on your device to see if it might have something to do with your device (other software running on it, like e.g. Magisk, or different kind of GApps or whatever), or to see whether it's app-specific and just the two file-managers you mentioned don't work.

I've tried X-plore but I couldn't see the internal storage there so I formatted the micro-sd card as portable and then I could see the internal storage on Mixplorer.
Then I formatted the micro-sd card back as internal storage but MiXplorer doesn't count the storage space on the micro-sd card.

If you also can't see the internal storage when using X-plore file manager, then I'd say there is something special with your setup that's causing these problems. The ROM basically can make the internal storage available to apps. I'm sorry, but I can't help you any further with this problem.

I've tried X-plore file manager but it doesn't count the micro-sd card as internal storage.
But however, I can see them both on X-plore file manager and the stock file manager if the micro-sd card is formatted as portable storage but I can't give access to the micro-sd card in MiXplorer.
I could appreciate it if someone else could help me solve this issue.

Dirty flashed this latest build with Open GApss Nano and Magisk 23.0. Working fine so far. Thanks for keeping this ROM going.

Firstly I'd like to thank all of you you've who've breathed life into my Tab4 tablet, something Lenovo were incapable of doing, and I'll never buy another one of their devices again. It runs really well.

Upon boot there's the message about "this build was signed with public keys", my question is, what are the risks of using a build signed with test keys rather than private ones?

Thanks again!

I’m not sure where I went bad with image from @Ecthelion4
I had magisk working on dec img by @codeworkx
without fiddling around much, I directly tried to flash newer image on without any wipes.
the device booted into recovery.
I thought it could be due to magisk, so I uninstalled (zip flash in recovery) and wiped, dalvik/cache/system. flashed new image again, but still it boots back to recovery.
any leads ?
and also, it necessary to uninstall magisk each time before flashing new image ?

Magisk can have weird effects when updating to a new version. I'm not using it, so I can't help you with that part. If everything is messed up then you might try installing the latest official TWRP version (that's the one I'm working with) and from that, wipe dalvik & cache, then flash the LOS 17.1 image and - if needed - GApps. If that does not work you might also try formatting the data partition before that procedure.

Hi.
Can somebody help me with rotation glitch on lineage 17.1 (20201220.163800)
Seems like it needs to be tilted right to have faced down... (and clockwise rule)
Is there some fix?

    Hi,

    I just uploaded a new build that includes the September 2021 security patches to AndroidFileHost. It should be possible to dirty flash the ROM over the existing LOS 17.1 build from codeworkx or me, which I again just did successfully.

    The only issue I faced is that the first boot lasted very long and finally shut down the tablet, so that I had to reboot it to recovery and then restart it. The second boot went fine. The reason may be that my first attempt at flashing the new ROM version failed in the middle of the process to the USB connection getting lost, so that I had to restart flashing it. But it may also be a problem with the ROM version. So if others are also facing this issue: 1. Please report this to me. 2. Restart the tablet and it should work on the second start.

    Just did a dirty flash of the ROM, no problem installing it. Thanks for the good work! Much appreciated!

    LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

    Code:
    #include
    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
     *
     */

    Here we go again, after building LOS 17.1 last weekend, it's LOS 18.1 this weekend. Thinking back, Lenovo didn't release a single major update for this device.

    From very brief testing, I can say that the camera and fingerprint scanner do not work. I will test the new OS in detail in the next few days and then create a separate thread soon.
