Hi Ecthelion4, thanks again for your efforts to keep this rom alive, and keeping security patches up-to-date. However I am a bit concerned that selinux policy is set to permissive. Would it be possible at all to build this rom with selinux enforcing? Oh, and a happy new year to you!
Happy New Year to you too! Unfortunately I have to admit that I have no clue how to change the SElinux policy. I was able to find out how to build the existing code for the Tab4 10 Plus and I am able to update the code from the LineageOS repo, so that I can regularly provide a new build with the latest security patches, but other than that I have no clue about Custom ROM development. Perhaps someone else can step up and modify the code accordingly. Sorry

The build are containing all upstream changes from LineageOS 17.1. This will probably also include bug fixes.
thx a lot for keeping the tablet going, i used your 1st build until now, but it had some minor issues, hopefully it is sorted in the latest one. i want to upgrade to something with a higher resolution screen really, but not for 3x the money.

Thanks for keeping the tablet alive! Successfully upgraded from 16.0 to 17.1 with the file from previous post. The only thing from those I use that doesn't work is when I close the flip case the tablet doesn't turn off. Funnily enough if screen is off and case closed and I open the flip cover the display comes on.

Any idea how could I make it work when closing the cover too? Thanks!

Been trying (again) to install 17.1 on my tab4 10+, I managed to get it to boot but then it can't see the Bluetooth or WiFi. The setup program just sits there trying to detect a WiFi network and failing.

Skip that part of setup and I can boot Lineage, but when I go into the WiFi settings it will not turn on.

This is using twrp-3.6.0_9-0-X704F and lineage-17.1-20211014-UNOFFICIAL-TBX704, but it was the same with older versions.

Oh yes, after boot Lineage also looks for a (non-existent) SIM card. And in WiFi Settings, it says

IP address
Unavailable
MAC address
Unavailable

So it looks like it is not even recognising the WiFi hardware.

I've got it working OK with WiFi now & Lineage 16.0, but does anyone have ideas on how to persuade 17.1 to see the WiFi, please?

One of the first items in the installation instructions is to update to the latest official firmware. Did you do this? Other than that it looks you did everything right.

As far as I know it was all up to date. After my last try I'd used the official Lenovo restore tool & the latest 7.1 firmware, followed by checking system update, which should have dealt with that. It's puzzling.

Uploaded a fresh build to AFH
Hi, I have been "dirty" flashing these builds since 16.0, and while this last one you posted works, at startup I get this warning. This was flashed over lineage-17.1-20220124-UNOFFICIAL-TBX704.zip

IMG_20220223_003252.jpg

I press ok and act as if nothing happened and everything seems to work, but I cannot help and wonder: Should I be worried?

Could it be because previous versions were from @LumenReaper ?

    Hi,

    I just uploaded a new build that includes the May 2022 security patches to AndroidFileHost. It should be possible to dirty flash the ROM over the existing LOS 17.1 build from codeworkx or me, which I again just did successfully.

    LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

    Code:
    #include
    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

    Here we go again, after building LOS 17.1 last weekend, it's LOS 18.1 this weekend. Thinking back, Lenovo didn't release a single major update for this device.

    From very brief testing, I can say that the camera and fingerprint scanner do not work. I will test the new OS in detail in the next few days and then create a separate thread soon.
