LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

How to install
To install this you have to install TWRP using by QFIL utility, follow this instruction: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ge...vo-p8-tb-8703f-tb-8703x-t3689442/post76277192

Special TWRP build
To install and boot any custom roms and to boot it after installing mods that change boot partitition like Magisk please use this TWRP:
2018-08-25
  • Fixed long time to wakeup screen in TWRP
  • Added NTFS filesystem for sdcards
mailru: twrp-tb8703-3.2.1-20180825-bootsign.img

Previous version

[*] Первая версия
mailru: twrp-tb8703-3.2.1-bootsign.img
gdrive: twrp-tb8703-3.2.1-bootsign.img

This TWRP build has special function Sign boot which you have to click after install new version of ROM or mod like Magisk. It will append stock boot signature to your boot partition. This allows to boot with locked bootloader.
TWRP with Boot Sign function screenshots:

Fortunately you dont need to unlock bootloader, because not every Lenovo tab can be unlocked. Custom kernel and ROM can be runned by appending boot.sig signature extracted from stock rom to boot.img like
Code:
cat boot.img boot.sig > boot-signed.img
It still cant be loaded by fastboot, but you always can flash it from TWRP. You can get boot.sig in my repo https://github.com/HighwayStar/android_device_lenovo_TB8703/blob/cm-14.1/twrp/recovery/root/boot.sig

I tried to flash this rom and other versions (Lineage 16 and 15.1, and PE). What I got is looping at boot animation. I flashed TWRP 3.2.1 with bootsign and another version in [TWRP][Root][Guide] Lenovo P8 (TB-8703F and TB-8703X) but nothing changed. Is any step missing? I have clicked the boot sign option after flashing roms.

Solved by reinstalling stock firmware. It was caused by formatting SYSTEM partition in TWRP. It's not necessary so don't do that. Flashing custom ROM directly.

Hi! My device crashed and I think it is because I wiped system. Could you please let me know how did you recover the stock firmware? Via TWRP or via QFIL? Thank you in advance!

Hi to all,
I would like to install the latest version of TWRP and LOS, but I got lost among the various 3D, could someone link me the latest instructions and zip?
Thank you

EDIT: ok, the instructions in the first post are still current, thanks to them I was able to install everything

I just wanted to say thanks. I've been meaning to try and do this for a few years now, but never got around to doing it. The stock marshmallow on the device worked reasonably well, even if it did have it's annoying quirks.

Anyway, I finally had enough of it and was on the fence about purchasing a new tablet. Since I was at that stage, I figured pulling the trigger and attempting to flash ROM couldn't hurt.

I followed all these instructions and honestly ran into a few issues that got me pretty nervous but I got through in the end. (The last time I rooted and flashed a device was a decade ago)

Holy smokes, everything JUST WORKS. Even all the annoying bits about the stock implementation are fixed! Can't believe I put up with it all these years when I could have this experience. Battery life appears to be even better, though I will have to observe more closely.

If anything, the only thing I can think of that feels different or a potential drawback is that the audio now seems tinnier. But that is still vastly more pleasant than putting up with all the issues I had with stock.

So thanks again.

First thing I do when buying new equipment: I install LineageOS!!! I've never used stock Android on this Tab3 8 Plus, and it's been doing me great favors for 3 years! And the latest update makes it even smoother for me. I was a bit in the same situation, wanting to change tablet, but in the end the prices have increased a lot, and there are not many tablets in 8" format AND LineageOS compatible anymore. I ended up buying a Galaxy Tab S2 8" which is not very expensive second-hand (about $100): the screen is excellent (AMOLED and 4/3), it is slightly more powerful than the Lenovo but the autonomy is almost twice as low!

I also love LOS. I just wish GPS would work for me. Actually GPS has not worked with any custom ROM I tried. I would go back to stock, but I tried several times and was unable to.

Because is an update from 9 to 10, the best procedure is to wipe Dalvik, Cache, System, Data partitions

1. Copy the .zip for Lineage 17.1 into the SD-card + openGapps (I have used nano version)
2. Go to recovery TWRP (VOL+ & Power). Wipe Dalvik, Cache,System, Data
3. Install the zips
4. Sign boot
And you are done.

Thanks for your post,
I finally understand that I need to do step 4
in order for it not to boot and crash the second it shows the Lenovo screen.

But... initially I got the TWRP 3.2.3 where there are NO "Sign Boot"
And even I download the boot.sig file, I did not know or try to install.

Then I download the TWRP 3.2.1 and see the "Sign Boot" and then finally complete the installation.

I did not read through all post but I wonder what are the steps for 3.2.3 since there are no "Sign Boot"
I remember there are RMencrpyt... and many more.

I also own a ASUS ZenPad Z10 along with this Lenovo Tab 3 8 Plus (TB-8703F)

My target is to buy anything that is NOT AMOLED since I had bad experience with Google Galaxy Nexus by Samsung.

For my first and only iPhone I chose 11 because of the IPS screen.

There are not much or no choice of a decent CPU / RAM / ROM tablet with none AMOLED screen.

Hello all, I own two lenovo tab 3 8 plus tablets and both stopped connecting to any WIFI sometime last week. Have tried a factory reset on one, connecting to unsecured wifi, mobile tethering, nothing works. The networks are available, but it won't connect to anything. Does anybody think that loading a custom rom will get these devices connecting to WIFI again?

Hi! I used this rom and i was very pleased with it, thanks for the creators! However i would like to use MicroG with this rom. Is there a way to do it? Or is there a general howto about adding MicroG to an unofficial lineageOS build like this? Btw I have no experience with building roms so far. Many thanks!

Well, OK, i did my research and I finally succeeded.
NanoDroid didn't work for me because of this:
[ ! -f /system/build.prop ] && error "failed to mount /system (unsupported A/B device?)"
... nor Tingle.
Probably i am quite lame and I was afraid to edit patcher scripts.
Also I don't have Magisk and other miracles.

Luckily i found this reddit page: [link]
It had a dead link to https://del.dog/hulycobanu.sh
I found the content in an archive here: [link] - i try to attach sh script file here
This script worked beautifully, big props to member FriendlyNeighborhoodShane !!!
After I installed MinMicroG-Standard-xxxx from here (link seems FriendlyNeighborhoodShane's contribution again) via TWRP.
And everything worked.

EDIT: note that MinMicroG-Standard-xxxx contains some modified google play store. I don't know the details but i like better NoGoolag edition.
