Still reboot to twrp on 2020-06-01 build

2020-06-01
  • Fixed boot on 8703f (wifi tablet version)
Thanks very much to update the build.
I have done clean flash for 2020-06-01 build and still keep reboot to twrp. I've tried:
* Clean flash -> sign boot -> reboot
* Delete file and folder you mentioned -> sign boot -> reboot
* Wipe caches -> re-flash -> delete file and folder -> sign boot -> reboot
All boot into twrp eventaully.
Any suggestion from here?
Cheers

Thanks for the update! I have tb-8703f. Using a fresh install of the 20200601 update for the third day. It has fixed the issues I had with the 20200331 build like random freezes/reboots, slow starts, unable to mount USB NTFS drives, poor battery life, had to choose default launcher every reboot, etc. This new build is more fluid and better battery life also. Again, thanks for this update! ?

Whatever you did, one great improvement is battery life!!! Thanks!

The only problem I have now is making the DDPlus via magisk working. It used to work with the 20200331 build. Anyone?

Where you downloaded ddplus?
From this thread.

I saw it on the Tab 4 plus LOS 17.1 thread. Tried it and it worked on 20200331 build. I uses magisk install, and also installed audio modification and audio patch magisk modules. Worked well on previous build. But I couldn't get it to work on the new build.

hey guys, was on LOS 16 and wanted to upgrade. Wiped system, cache, data, etc. as usual and then installed the new rom and gapps. TWRP (I already was on 3.2.1) didn't offer me to sign the boot so I assumed it was already patched.

Now when powering on the tablet it displays the lenovo logo for half a second and then the screen goes black. I presume it cannot boot into the new ROM because it's not signed.

I can boot into fastboot with power+vol- but not to twrp (tried both power+vol+ and power plus both volume keys and no luck)

Any suggestions? It's been a while since I dealt with custom ROMs so I'm a bit rusty, but if I recall correctly while on fastboot I can use adb to tell the tablet to boot using an .img file. Hopefully I'll then be able to do it again making sure I sign the boot image.

I'll try the above in a while. Thanks in advance

Try on pc fastboot reboot-recovery. Please Google the correct syntax. I'm on mobile right now...

If no luck, you can try to reinstall Twrp via fastboot

fastboot flash recovery [filename of Twrp image]

(please Google correct syntax)

thanks, but no luck. When I try to flash the recovery it says that 'Partition flashing is not allowed' (most google result say it might be because the booloader is locked)

When I try to boot into recovery, I only get a black screen.

I get the same black screen if I try to power on the tablet while holding volume+. If I connect the tabled to my computer while in this mode, it gets recognised as Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 900E instead of Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 , which looks like my tablet is hard bricked (first time I managed to do this in my many android devices over the years!) and I will need to short a pin in the motherboard before connecting it to the usb port so it goes into the proper mode.

If I try to change the port driver (in windows' device manager) from 900E to 9008, QFIL won't be able to flash anyway.

Try

Fastboot boot recovery twrp.img

If it boots on your device, you can try to install twrp.img via twrp

If not, you can reinstall stock firmware and start over.

Using build 20200601 on my Tb8703f for a week.

Battery life is pretty good! 27 hours since last full charge with more than 5 hours of screen time, and I still have 25% battery life left. Very good standby time! I never achieved this with previous build and previous versions. And No random re boots or crashes yet. Thanks for this. Really happy with this build. Fast, stable and long battery life.
