First of all thanks a lot for this great ROM.
Unfortunately WPA3 is in the latest version of the ROM not working for me. Only when I disable WPA3 in the router the device connect to Wifi.

Would it be an option to use the same solution that @rINanDO is using for i9100:
also for this device?

This solution is working for me with WPA3 activated on the i9100

I've disabled this overlay already here:

But it didn't worked, maybe it makes a difference as a rro overlay, I could try this for the next update.

Thanks a lot. Let's keep fingers crossed that an rro overlay works better for the i9300 as well.

Just asking, when compared to ChronoMonochrome's LineageOS 11.0, which is better in terms of functionality, battery, stability, and which has less bugs? If anyone has tested both ROMs, please reply... (I'm just asking this because I could save some time instead of trying both, I didn't mean to start a fight or something)
IMHO this rom is better as it is a newer version, has OTA updates, has treble, and less bugs (in my experience). Battery life is more or less equal as your S3 probably also has an aging battery.

Hope this helps :)

Hi everyone. Great ROM.
I installed some apps and tested, later I inserted the SIM card, and nothing, it does not sees it.
Have I missed something?

EDIT: I jumped from android stock 4.4 to this. I am remembering that this could be something related to the EFS folder or somethig like that? help! haha

Thanks!

Whats's your schedule / timelline for the next update? Just reactivated my S3 and I am also not able to connect to WiFi in WPA2/WPA3 mixed-Mode
I don't know, maybe next week, as soon as I find some time.

Hmm theoretically if you're using a recent modem, the baseband should be recognized.
I guess your IMEI is 0?
You could try to flash a different modem, I could upload some later for you.

These are problems of this ROM:

1- Sometimes internal memory is lost and the device must be restarted
2- LED does not work when the charger is connected
3- Hotspot & tethering not working
4- Auto brightness not working

Thanks for this nice ROM👌🙏🌸

Exactly, my IMEI says "unknown". Also the wifi MAC address it´s 00:00:00:00:00:00.

I will try flashing a modem. I ´d really appreciate if you upload one, since i don´t know where can I find it (i´m from Argentina)

Thanks for replying!

PS: I can confirm the auto brightness isn´t working for me either. And I think the flashlight too

Do you own an i9300?
Because auto brightness and flashlight are working fine.
Maybe you're device has a different hardware.

Yes. The label under the battery says:
Model: GT-I9300
FCC ID: A3LGTI9300A
SSN: -I9300GSMH

Thanks!

Copy the modem.bin file into your internal memory and flash it with:

adb shell
su (only in system)
dd if=/sdcard/modem.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p7
reboot

and check if your Baseband works.

Well, this is awkward. I flashed the magisk.zip with twrp, but no root. Am I missing something?

I tried to flash a stock ROM with Odin, but failed.

Running out of options hehe.

Thanks again and sorry for the inconvenience!

EDIT: while in download mode, I noticed Product Name: SHV-E210S

WTF this is the south korean version, with a label saying i9003

Whe you're using my TWRP, you have root rights!
Hmm ok, this maybe could be a problem, but I'm not sure, I would give it a try.

If you were trying to flash a I9300 stock ROM, it will be blocked by the bootloader.

    hi

Are you trying to build Android 12?
Chrono contacted me, his S3 is broken, so I will publish an Android 12 build in January :).
    5
    Update 05.01.2022:
    • Fixed shutdown / reboot behaviour with installed magisk
    • Set swappiness to 60
    • Built nfc extras
    • Enabled software navbar and full gesture navigation as default (to disable you still can use my toggle_navbar script)
    4
    The conclusion of all this:

SIM unlock worked with this fix, so we should be fine to use a SIM card with and without a PIN code set.

But giogola faced another issue, he tried to activate the PIN on his SIM in the Galaxy S3 and then directly the PUK was questioned.

So this may be still an existing bug which needs some debugging, but if you don't try to activate the PIN in the S3, you should be fine :).

    Thanks for testing @giogola!
    3
Another tester tried to enable the SIM-Pin with the S3 and had also no problems, unlock did work,
so I think the most dangerous part is gone :).

Sorry for asking a dumb question, but what I'm doing wrong here?
    4. ...then reboot the 'phone to "Download mode" (== "Fastboot mode") and `fastboot flash boot ./magisk_patched-23000_<something>.img` to it
This isn't fastboot mode, this is the download mode.
You could flash the boot img with:
    heimdall flash --BOOT boot.img

    or pack it with:
    tar -H ustar -c boot.img > boot.tar

    and use odin.

But this all isn't needed, just flash the magisk.apk in TWRP and all is fine.

    Hi,

here you can find my version of LineageOS 18.1 for our Samsung Galaxy S3 (I9300).
At first I want to thank @rINanDO, @ChronoMonochrome for all your work.
This Rom is based on https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-unofficial-11-0-0-lineageos-18-0-alpha-20-10-2020.4179303/ .

This is a early beta build, so don't install it if you want a stable rom and don't report my already listed bugs!

Here you can see how far everything is working for now.

    • Boot
    • Audio
    • Bluetooth
    • Graphics
    • Cameras
    • Sensors
    • Wifi
    • GPS
    • USB
    • Video playback (HW/SW)
    • Tethering via USB
    • RIL
    • OTA-Updates
    • GSI flash
    • NFC
    • Tethering via WIFI and Bluetooth
    • much more...
    • BT headset call
    • Screen Cast, Chromecast did work, Samsung TV not
    • Random reboots
    • SD-Card can't be formatted as a storage expansion, your device will crash
    • Maybe more
You could use a gps.conf from https://app.box.com/s/w57s1v1n3hie7l5lk28i for your location and replace /vendor/etc/gps.conf.
Or you try GPS Server Optimizer app for a faster 3D fix.
For both methods you need root rights.
If you are going to use Gapps,
    here you can download them:
    Open Gapps
For the others, you can use microG in future.

    Do you like my work?
Than you can simply hit the thanks button and consider to spend me a coffee or a beer,
I'm doing this in my free time and it also costs a lot of money to buy hardware.

    donate

Chrono contacted me, his S3 is broken, so I will publish an Android 12 build in January :).

    Update 10.12.2021:
    • Fixed tethering
    • Fixed wifi mac adress in settings
    • Some tweaks
    • Fixed NetGuard support in Kernel
    • Disabled WPA3 in RRO overlay
    • Introduced new possibility to enable / disable the software navbar, this is needed to use Android 10 / 11 touchscreen gestures.
To enable / disable it do the following:
      adb shell
      su
setprop toggle_navbar true (also for disabling)
(You can also use a terminal emulator)
    • Enabled default gesture navigation (you can use my toggle_navbar script to modify it)
    • Enabled 1704 MHz if you wan't to overclock (I will leave 1600 MHz as common)
    • Enabled dex preopt
    • Partly fixed USB mode selection, just reconnect the device to make it active or wait long enough
    • Synced with latest LineageOS sources
    7
    Update 06.07.2021:
    • Changed menu button behavior to better support AOSP
    • WIFI and RIL fixes for AOSP
Now you can flash your first GSI on your Samsung Galaxy SIII.

This update will be available via AFH and OTA.

    Update 24.07.2021:
    Via OTA and AFH.
