So, I've been banging my head against LineageOS 20, and I've hit a wall (pun intended). With only 1GB of RAM, booting Android 13 it's like trying to run a marathon with just one leg. Everything constantly runs out of memory, and the LMK daemon keeps killing critical system services before the device even gets to the setup wizard. So yeah, I've thrown in the towel on that one and I'm going to take a swing at LineageOS 19.1 instead.

Just wanted to let you know - I've started a Telegram group dedicated to the development of Amazon Fire devices (in general). It's all about keeping us updated on the latest developments and making internal testing a breeze. To mods who are checking this out, I've gone through the XDA rules and I'm sure we're all good here (if you think this is not true, feel free to delete this post).​

Hello, quick question... is it doable to convert this rom (somehow) to a regular non-tv rom? it is just as easy as installing lawnchair? or it requires something more... I was thinking on couple this with scrcpy to have a "tablet" on to where I could develop (without using a vm in android studio)...

I've been posting test builds in the Telegram group I mentioned in one of my earlier comments. So far, the basic things seem to be working. However, Netflix doesn't seem to work. There is also a strange issue where certain apps are not showing up in the Play Store.​

does this only work with new device? if i have an old device with updates installed, will it work or not? plz reply anyone.

Hi,

I have been running this rom for several months and have not had any issues unti today.

An app that i use on other devices creates a backup which i then transfer to the firestick and when i open the app on the firestick and try to restore data, the file picker doesn't open. I've tried a few file managers and they dont work.

Any ideas?

I think over 6 months when first installing I also noted issues caused by file access permission not easy to release. Can not check again if I could resolve then

@Rortiz2 Sorry to bother you, but I can't follow the development on telegram. Can you confirm that LineageOS 20 will be released later this year - my TV "died" last night, so before buying a new one, I want to be certain that it will get android 13, otherwise I won't spent the money and sell my sheldon. Thanks for all your hard work to provide us with a better OS!!!

I can also confirm the 18.1 is very stable and it does not happen often a restart is needed - probably caused by a bad App (or GApps dependancy hardcoded).

    LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    • Reboot to TWRP
    • Wipe data, system (/system_root) and cache
    • Flash the ROM and the GApps
    • Reboot and enjoy!
