It supports it, I used it without problems with the official version of LineageOS 14.1. I am trying to use the "Samsung USB connector" device to connect my Logitech keyboard. I used without problems in LineageOS 14.1 version, but with this 18.1 does not work

Ok, I tested other USB keyboards and they worked. However my Logitech K400+ keyboard does not work, it seems that its receiver is not recognized by the Android, I don't know why. Any solution for it?

Are there any messages appearing in the kernel log or android log (logcat) related to the keyboard not working?
Did Lineage17.1 work with this keyboard?
It could be that I've disabled some kernel config option that allowed it to work previously, or it might be SEpolicy stopping it.
I've disabled some kernel options to provide more free memory to reduce crashes by oom.
ATM I haven't got a USB adaptor - ordered one.

Hello, thanks for the reply, nothing message appears, I connect the K400+ receiver and the Tablet simply does not recognize it. I installed OS 17.1 and that didn't work either. I reinstalled the official LineageOS 14.1 and it worked perfectly.

I connected a logitech keyboard and mouse via a USB unifying device.
Mouse functions worked but no keyboard (it's a K520r fwiw).
The logitech code in the log did print the error below about an invalid device index (3rd line), which I'll need to look further into.

Code:

Hi, I noticed that when I set the brightness on for example 25% on Marshmallow and LOS 18.1, it's much more brighter on MM.
25% brightness on MM ~ 60% brightness on LOS.

Could you try out this version for your keyboard.
I get a working keyboard (K520r & mouse)

I've updated/changed kernel code for the /hid drivers code, taken from tab S2 kernel where keyboard and mouse worked.

If your getting battery drain that you think is too fast ,
have you done a clean install - twrp wiped first then install.
have you checked in logs (using ADB) for any crashing processes ?
have you turned off bluetooth if not using.
how bright your screen settings are. Screen settings on max will drain faster than a lower setting.
how old is the battery now.
Also turn off Location Services.

Are you prepared to help find possible issues ?
reading:- https://developer.android.com/topic/performance/power/battery-historian

According to Battery historian for a brief period of data collection, total discharge rate was reported at 3152mA, possible some intensive processing was happening at the time.
3150 mA results in only a 2hr 30min runtime
Another capture shows 1052mA (13%/hr) whilst just screen on and nothing intensive happening which equates to 7hr + runtime with an original optimal battery at 7900mAh
Sorry for asking, what do you mean by "clean install - twrp wiped"?
Should I wipe twrp? And if so, then how should I install the ROM?

This a new update? Any updates beside the kernel for HID devices?
Just HID devices kernel code updated. The image can be "dirty" flashed.
I've disabled some HID devices, likely they are lesser known and not used.
This was the first time I'd even heard of a problem with logictech USB keyboard.

If anyone has a USB device they plug in, better check it.

These HID drivers additionally have been disabled/not compiled into kernel.

# CONFIG_HID_CHICONY is not set
# CONFIG_HID_PRODIKEYS is not set
# CONFIG_DRAGONRISE_FF is not set
# CONFIG_HID_EMS_FF is not set
# CONFIG_HID_KYE is not set
# CONFIG_HID_WALTOP is not set
# CONFIG_HID_GYRATION is not set
# CONFIG_HID_TWINHAN is not set

# CONFIG_HID_MONTEREY is not set

# CONFIG_HID_NTRIG is not set

@bluess57 thanks again for your build - i have been running it on SM-T800 and it does run better than LoS17.1. In your next build, can you make it such I can directly flash on T800 without the need to modify the install script? I think there are a few here who have installed on T800 and it works nicely. You can make it T805 and T800.
Hello all. Thanks @bluess57 for this ROM and if possible to have it compatible with T800, I would love it as I have no idea what to modify to make it work on my T800! :D

!! Installation Guide !!

Making this quick guide for all the noobs and newbies who dont really have a clear idea on what do based on my installation experience yesterday [dont worry, I was here before 😉 ]

- Backup your nudes
- Enter download mode on the tab (at least do that research)
- I installed TWRP 3.1.0-0 first (all twrp builds available here)
- In Odin leave auto reboot on, and just hold vol up + home, click start, keep holding the keys as the tab reboots, tab should boot into TWRP
- Download whatever latest TWRP image is available as an IMG, push it to the tab (adb or MTP), use the image install button to flash the recovery partition
- Reboot into recovery, then format data in TWRP
- Reboot again into recovery, use adb sideload or push the zip files (Lineage and GApps), install
- Reboot into system and enjoy

    2nd Beta
This is a SELinux enforcing build, signed with public keys, so you will have notifications from "Trust"
Includes 2022-12-05 lineage security updates see -> https://review.lineageos.org/c/LineageOS/android_build/+/345541

3rd version - replace the LineageOs 18.1 camera application with that of Aperture from LineageOS 20.
    This allows for video recording.
Incorporating Jan 2023 AOSP security patches see:-
    https://review.lineageos.org/q/topic:R_asb_2023-01
    https://review.lineageos.org/c/LineageOS/android_build/+/347091

If you downloaded yesterday, sorry, you need to download again and apply to obtain Jan 2023 security patches.

First Impressions is that 18.1 is an improvement over 17.1 in regards to speed/responsiveness of the interface.

Note: Please DON'T update to LineageOS Recovery - it's horrible , and is not going to work.

This is the ONLY model that the ROM will work on.

Before deciding to install this ROM, please backup anything/everything important.
Also have a build handy you can revert to in the event this build is not working.
If you think this is an unreasonable request, then stop reading now and find another ROM. Thank you.

    DISCLAIMER

I am not responsible for lost data, identity theft, lost money, security vulnerabilities, bricked devices or any other hardware or software malfunctions that comes as a result of flashing this ROM.

All involved in bringing this build to you, I am working voluntarily on it in very limited spare time, and their other life commitments have much higher priority. Don't expect a prompt, or even any, response to questions and bug reports.

Before attempting to install this ROM

    1. Ask yourself: would bricking your device be a disaster for you? If yes, don't try this ROM! It can't be guaranteed stable and reliable enough to depend on for daily use.
    2. BACKUP YOUR DATA AND EXISTING ROM. Be prepared for a complete restore if anything goes wrong.
    3. RESEARCH adb, fastboot, Odin/heimdall, and TWRP and how to use them, if not already familiar with these.

    What works
    wifi
    brightness
    audio through loudspeaker
    audio through headphone jack
    DRM level 3 (SD definition)
    deep sleep
RIL - mobile data and telephony/SMS - some limitations for telephony audio options
    hardware buttons and lighting
gapps nano version for arm, android 11

    What doesn't work:-
Original Camera Video Recording application - as it's the LineageOS camera app, it doesn't save.
This is now replaced by Aperture camera application from LineageOS 20 which will save video.
It's not the fastest but works - hey it's an old device.

DRM level 1 (no HD definition). It is practically impossible to achieve level 1 for HD definition.
If you need HD definition for your streaming media, stay with stock Samsung ROM.

WPA2+WPA3 wifi security on a wifi access point results in no wifi connection.
Logcat displays - "WPA: Failed to select authenticated key management type"
    It's in external/wpa_supplicant_8/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.c at line 1586

Possibly other features that I haven't tested or do not use.
