I am a total newbie to all this. I have the 810 Samsung S2 Tab (10") and should I download 17.1, 18.1 or go for 19.1 now that is out ? I am still on stock Samsung Android 7. I just want a newer Android for the tablet, I don't care if it is Android 9,10 or 11, whatever works fastest with less bugs out of those 3 versions of Android. I don't play games, just social media, basic VLC video playback, and very basic editing of photos.

Any advice ? Thanks.

Mine is on this and I didn't encounter any problems:

Has to be on latest stock first.

My device is T715 LTE (gts28ltexx)
Thank you

715 working without problems

Hi, nice to have a dedicated new thread (after the slow dying of bonuzz's thread).
I installed the latest version on my SM-T715 and using it without any problems until now.
Using Magisk v18.
All my apps work after restoring them from Titanium Backup.
No problems with fingerprint (using left hand finger and right hand thumb).

Thanks for your support.
Can you also make and receive calls using bluetooth earphones?

I installed another version of lineageos 18.1 not from this thread and the biggest problems concern the calls, it is possible to make them only with the speakerphone

Has anyone managed to do a FIX Lte?

This version does not allow you to call in 4g mode without having to use the speakerphone.

The ROMs in this thread are de facto discontinued. You might give the following one a try:

I recalled t715y ( i have this) has little to none support so they made the t715 rom work on both, otherwise you will have to downgrade if you want modem.
They were having troubles in the past so it was best to drop mobile support.

I have just installed this and most things are great, but for some reason Instagram videos are awful quality, like really low bitrate and fuzzy, I don't mean on ones I upload myself (I have never done this) I mean other peoples videos and stories. I have the 810. Any ideas ?

Also the "BT Email" app loads then immediately closes saying it has detected a security risk. Any ideas ? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

Thanks !!

@ZammoUK afaik this ROM here is discontinued.
My T810 is on this LOS19.1 ROM by @retiredtab:
With which I'm very satisfied.
Some people report wifi connection breaks but on mine it automatically reconnects when that happens.

With most custom ROMs you will have that sort of problem, particularly with apps for banking and pay, but not only with that type. The apps check for and detect that the ROM isn't stock Android, and treat that as an insurmountable security risk. Some of the things they detect include: that the device's bootloader is unlocked; that the ROM hasn't been signed by a trusted certificate; that the ROM is rooted; that SE Linux is disabled; that the device doesn't pass Google's SafetyNet check.

If you really need to use those apps on your device, you have to take steps to hide whatever it's objecting to. This generally involves rooting the device with Magisk and configuring that to conceal the device's condition. I can't give step by step instructions for this. See the Magisk section of XDA https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/magisk.5903/ and [Discussion] Magisk: The Age of Zygisk (a discussion and help thread for newer versions of Magisk).

    Ok thanks.

So TWRP is installed. How can I do to flash the tab?

    Do I necessary need Gapps?

In fact, I flashed my cell (Xiaomi) but the tutorial I found was very clear. I need to understand all the steps in order to do it correctly :)
Hello @parhit . May I suggest you take a look at my detailed Upgrade Procedure post from May 27, 2022 on thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...os-18-1-for-sm-t710-may-8-2023.4430339/page-2 . That thread is for the T710 only. But with the correct ROM for the T715 and the correct TWRP for the T715 all the other instructions are solid.

Sorry, but I can't help with Linux. I only have Windows and Odin works just fine. Just for clarity, the thread I referred you to is exclusively for T710 and T810 ROMs - this thread covers more devices per its title.
    1
I'm on Linux, so I did an old-fashioned installation (sudo apt install odin) to get by.

@parhit, Odin is a Windows-only Samsung app intended for flashing Samsung stock firmware to Samsung devices.

I have no idea what the 'odin' app you got with sudo apt install odin is, but your screenshot certainly doesn't look anything like Samsung's Odin. What does the "Help" item in that window tell you about it?

Most Android devices can be put into fastboot mode, and the fastboot tool that comes with Google's platform-tools package can then flash TWRP to the recovery partition of the device.

However, Samsung devices don't have a fastboot mode, so you need a tool that can flash recovery via download mode. Suitable tools are Odin and heimdall. Odin is only available for Windows, but heimdall has Windows, linux, and MacOS versions.

To install heimdall on your linux PC:

    sudo apt install heimdall-flash

The app package is 'heimdall-flash', but the app command is 'heimdall'.

Put the device into download mode, then follow the instructions starting from step 6 of https://mdmower.github.io/lineage_wiki/gts210vewifi_install.html (this is for a different Samsung device, but the steps are the same). Take note of the green "Tip" and the warning to reboot to recovery mode immediately after flashing TWRP.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device. All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. If you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

    Code:
    * [B][U]Your warranty is now void.[/U][/B]
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or your getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at us for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

(Please read them BEFORE posting anything in the thread!)
Q: Whenever I try flashing any lineage-18.1 build, I get the following error in TWRP: Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
A: This error appears whenever you try to flash an Q-based rom within a version of TWRP older than 3.5. Simply flash the linked below version 3.5 or higher, reboot back into recovery, and flash the rom zip again.

Q: Will any of the variants ever receive official builds from LineageOS?
A: In short, no. The reason is that, in order to get a modern version of Android working properly on an ageing device some legacy commits needed to have been re-introduced into the current source branch. These include a fix for something as fundamental as Wi-Fi.

Q: How often will new builds be released?
A: At least once per month: as soon as possible after each new Android security patch level is merged and whenever a new feature is added or a bug is fixed.

If your currently installed ROM is any version of either: stock Samsung TouchWiz, LineageOS, CyanogenMod, or any other custom ROM, you must perform a clean install of that LineageOS 18.1 variant, which corresponds to the model of your tablet!

Typically if you do not do a Clean Install then you are not allowed to report errors or problems. If you Dirty Install and you do have problems then you will be asked to Wipe All and Clean Install and see if the problems still exist. This is a DAILY changing rom and any bug that you found was not working on the previous day's build may be fixed with todays daily build. On a side note, the code implemented to fix that bug could potentially break something that worked on that previous build. So reporting problems on a day old build that you dirty flashed over whichever build of whichever rom you had flashed previously will not be accepted as a true error.

Problems known to happen after a Dirty Installation
    1. A muddled up mess of a system. You are taking a rom and installing a newer rom with changes over the top of your old rom. Between these two periods of time during which you used your tablet and created data, changed system options, and used apps. This is absolutely increasing the risk of causing problems somewhere in the system/data partitions. Some people have luck with Dirty Flashing. However, it's always hit-and-miss because of what we mentioned above about bug fixes breaking previously working functions. Dirty flashing doesn't only create problems if the source code of the system data and the system settings of the new build are significantly different from those of your previous build. That's not to say that Clean Installing won't ever create problems, but only bugs present on a Cleanly Installed rom are relevant for development purposes.

    * Clean Install: Fully wiping everything and installing the rom onto a fully clean system/data partition of the tablet.

    * Dirty Install: Installing the rom and GApps over top of the older rom to save time and not have to reinstall all the user apps and tweaking system and app settings that usually take a lot of time to set up as you like.

    Bugs
    - The microphone is able to record sound, but the sound is very faint. This is due to Samsung's proprietary drivers, as determined by Skulldron.
    - T710 & T715/Y: Camera viewfinder is misaligned with the dimentions of the display, such that the shutter button is almost off the screen
    - You tell us!

    Changelog
All major features and bug fixes are discussed in detail by the developers in the thread, whenever they are implemented. All builds include the latest upstream Changes for all devices from LineageOS.
