After putting up with this for over a year - and trying other Android 11 / 10 ROMs, i finally resorted to the latest Ripee build of Lineage 16.1. vversion of Android pretty much same visually. I'm not missing anything. GPS, mobile data, WiFi all working as it should. I'm very happy.
cholt.. Are you saying you have personally loaded and used a custom rom/gaps with Samsung Note 4 910F trite on which all major services work and when powered off it doesn't run the battery out please? If so, ....please.... could you post a link to the custom rom and a version of gaps which works. Thankyou.
(On my note 4 the custom rom aicp works but runs the battery out when powered off in a couple of days.
I was unable to find any other custom rom on which everything worked.)
I would like a custom rom as the original android wont run many plays tore apps which I frequently use. Around Pie is fine

I haven't dared try a pixel rom as on my S4 gt 19505 it took out twrp and I still cant reload TWRP (from W10 computor odin)

I was, when I wrote this. I am running the latest 16.1 from Ripees google drive (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1YX-AodWUl5xTCPE8lfMvR0zsjQLe1EFR).

It was butter smooth, everything worked great, for about 2 weeks... but then I started having issues with overheating mostly.. Maybe it's an app I installed, not sure - I restored my usual stuff from google backup so could be anything really.

I'm sorry I haven't got any better news for you.

It doesn't lose charge when turned off though (do you mean sleeping?), your battery may be faulty if losing charge when actually powered off. Or you could try the battery reset thing in TWRP, if that's still a thing.

Big thanks to ripee and all other contributors for making this possible! Here is my setup and result:

- - -

(1) Extract and flash with heimdall:
twrp-3.6.2_9-0-trlte.img.tar
N910FXXU1DRI2_N910FXXU1DRI1.tar
sudo heimdall flash --RECOVERY recovery.img --APNHLOS NON-HLOS.bin --ABOOT aboot.mbn --MODEM modem.bin --RPM rpm.mbn --SBL1 sbl1.mbn --DBI sdi.mbn --TZ tz.mbn --no-reboot

(2) Sideload over twrp after full wipe:
lineage-18.1-20211107-UNOFFICIAL-trlte.zip
sudo adb sideload lineage-18.1-20211107-UNOFFICIAL-trlte.zip

I originally wanted to use lineage-18.1-20220424-UNOFFICIAL-trlte.zip by alanifotis, which he posted in the triplr_dev_users telegram group. But apparently ripee's build from 2021-11-07 was the only one with working mobile data... Both opengapps and magisk are not important to me, so I didn't sideload them.

(3) Detect the sim card:
Sometimes, this rom seems to be unable to detect a sim card. But don't worry! Try restarting the device a few times, or do an advanced restart into recovery and then restart back to system, or take out the battery after powering off and put it back in... Try every combination, and after 2-4 restarts your sim card should be working properly.

While ripee's build used com.android.camera2, alanifotis included the superior org.lineage.snap camera app. Because opencamera from fdroid sometimes freezes on the N910F, I decided to temporarily reinstall lineage-18.1-20220424-UNOFFICIAL-trlte.zip and copy the apk with adb pull /system/system_ext/priv-app/Snap/Snap.apk.

(4) Install the snap camera:
a) Disable the preinstalled camera2
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.camera2
b) Copy Snap.apk to the device and install it like any other app.
c) Set the camera to write to the SD card instead of internal storage.

- - -

I have been using this setup for a month as a daily driver, and I am mostly content with it. Everything works as intended, except for two things that are annoying to work around:
1. If I turn off the display while the camera app is open, the phone sometimes crashes and reboots. Avoid this by pressing the home button first, and only then the power button!
2. The battery continues to drain while the phone is powered off. Avoid this by rebooting to recovery and powering off inside twrp, or by removing the battery when it is powered off.

Same battery issue, which is drained very fast when phone is turned off.
Problem occurs with LOS 16, 17 and 18.
Two different batteries tested, same problem.
The batteries do not drain while they are removed from the phone.

I loaded odin/twrp, then aocp pie, when fone powered off the battery runs down (its not battery)

I note you say has affected all custom roms for trite using oreo and pie including this one

Please, is there any stable custom rom for trite samsung note 4.. ie important things like bluetooth camera all work, that doesn't have this run down on power off problem, and is above android 6 so can run modern playstore apps like bose soundbar messenger apps, all the usual ones.

I'm desperate to have my note 4 working, modern fones haven't got the big led message alert and many other features standard at that time.
Thankyou

I gave my spare SM-910F with lineage-16.0-20211117-UNOFFICIAL-trlte.zip to a friend and she seems to be quite happy with it. (Nevertheless the battery draining issue if you power off the mobile is present here as well as far as I recall)
Thankyou for telling me.
Are you able to explain to me if the battery drain when powered off is on pie and oreo roms would a custom rom using nougart not have this issue.

If so is it possible to get a link to a nougart custom rom where everything important works if this is so?

In general if there is an issue with a rom, when developers start on the next android version, is the issue more likely to be solved on the later custom rom.

Is there a custom rom after pie for trite note 4 samsung which doesnt have the battery drain issue and where everything important works? link?

As saidi ve bought a new fone and its hard to use with no missed message alert led 3.5 jack etc,.
I would really like the note 4 to work, and that means having a custom rom above android 6 so it can run recent playstore apps.

No, but you'll find my past 'findings' re battery draining issue on trlte both on LOS 16.0 and 18.1 if and when you search for my posts. (though the posts may cover the/my WiFi draining issue as well)

Ask Deep Thought for this, but the answer might be 42 ;-)

enabling USB-MIDI on N910F (trlte)

Hi, i finally managed to enable usb-midi functionality on my N910F.
I want to share thefix here for anyone who is interested in using Usb-Midi.

1. Root
2. use a File browser and get read write access to system partition
3. Navigate to: System/system/vendor/etc/init/hw
4. open file: init.qcom.usb.rc
5. add lines:
Code:
on property:sys.usb.config=midi
    write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/enable 0
    write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/idVendor 04e8
    write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/idProduct 686C
    write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/functions ${sys.usb.config}
    write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/enable 1
    setprop sys.usb.state ${sys.usb.config}

on property:sys.usb.config=midi,adb
    write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/enable 0
    write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/idVendor 04e8
    write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/idProduct 686C
    write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/functions ${sys.usb.config}
    write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/enable 1
    start adbd
    setprop sys.usb.state ${sys.usb.config}
6. save
7. reboot !
8. connect your phone to a laptop with usb cable
9. on your phone choose from usb pulldown menu : MIDI

I guess this fix should work on other variants too, just find the right "init.***.usb.rc "
file for your variant.

thanks to @ananjaser1211 for the code for this fix.

Hi,
no I am not an expert, I just really wanted to have Usb-Midi functionality, and I had already given up, but then i found ananjaser1211 s fix for his Los17.1 for trelte. So it's really his fix to be honest, I just found the workaround to add the code in the file in an existing install of LOS18.1 trlte . I use Los18.1 20211107 from ripee. It's pretty stable. Unfortunatly i can not help you with the battery drain issue, I read that switching of from TWRP is a workaround for this issue.

Alex THANKYOU... if all I have to do is use twrp to power off when im not using note4 a while that's perfect. Ill try it.
... Do you know how to enter twrp while the fone is on and in use please?

The only rom I found with everything working and completely stable is aocp pie (but with power fault)
Also it has text as well as icons, that is a great feature.
Is los 18.1 absolutely stable? is it sensitive to gaps version?
What is the easiest way to find link forlos 18.1 trite on xda

AFAIK you have to boot into recovery. You can enable advanced reboot in LOS, to get a menu when powering off.

On LineageOS 18.1 it's now in > Settings > System > Advanced > Gestures > Power menu > Advanced restart.

Thankyou appreciated. is lineage 18.1completely stable with everything important working?
Is Lineage is completely different from reserecction remix ..I dont want this total no operation problem again!
is "los" linage os
since loading reserection now the fone wont start, or enter tp, no charging light shows, nothing starts whatsoever. I thought maybe I should use odin to load tp again, however vol down pwr home doesn't work so i cant do this.

I could go to samsung store and I believe they can load the original software..could I do this?????
DOES YOUR LINEAGE 18.1 have the power off and draining battery issue or not please?

Note 4 fone was fine for me, the modern fones ive bought drive me mad, no missed call alert led, sometimes no headfone jack. note 4 on marshmallow wont run most of the modern apps which I use all the time.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

(Please read them BEFORE posting anything in the thread!)
Q: Whenever I try flashing any lineage-18.1 build, I get the following error in TWRP: Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
A: This error appears whenever you try to flash an Oreo-based rom within a version of TWRP older than 3.5. Simply flash the linked below version 3.5 or higher, reboot back into recovery, and flash the rom zip again.

Q:Will any of the variants receive official builds from LineageOS?
A: In short, no. While official support would certainly add credibility to our work, there is absolutely no reason to believe that unofficial builds are any less secure or stable than official ones. Naturally all the bugs listed below would first need to be fixed, but still the process of submitting and maintaining official support is very time-consuming and not something I, for one, am unable to make such a commitment.
Note to Junior Members: It is frowned upon in the XDA community to ask for ETA's on builds, features, bug fixes, or other improvements to the code or its functionality.

Q: Why is my phone warmer/hotter and the battery noticeably drained after flashing a build?
A: The wipe process that is a part of the installation procedure deletes some important configuration data, ie. BATTERYSTATS, which keep track of the battery's power level. These data ensure a balanced power management profile for all the hardware components of your phone. This is normal and nothing to worry about at all. Your battery drain will return to normal within a day or two.

If, however, you notice increased battery drain over a few days, check your signal. Android automatically re-directs battery power to the antennas to compensate for a weak signal from the tower to which your phone is connected at that time. If your signal is strong, check the following:
    1) You missed one of the Wipe steps in the flashing procedure.
    2) You are running an old bootloader or modem. Flash the most recent one listed for your variant under the links in the TWRP thread. Note: Use the "AP" button in Odin to flash ripee's combined BL_CP tar files.
    3) How old is your battery? Official replacement Samsung batteries typically last around 1 year if you recharge them regularly, ie. once a day. Since the Note 4 is almost 6 years old, it is normal for your original battery to start failing, but official Samsung batteries should not cost more than USD 20 nowadays.
    4) If all else fails, start over! Go through the entire installation procedure, including flashing a stock Marshmallow build, and going from there. Do NOT skip any steps this time!

    Q. Flashing a build failed with the message "eMMC Write Fail".
    A. This is the infamous embedded Multi-Media Controller bug that indicates that your internal flash memory is dead or dying. Do NOT try any tricks or crazy ideas to fix it, as they are all hoaxes! The ONLY way to get rid of it is to open your phone up and replace its logic board. :p

Important information about stock S Pen functionality!
The apps, libraries, and drivers that allow for the advanced S Pen-based functions in stock TouchWiz and TouchWiz-based custom roms WILL NEVER BE INCLUDED IN ANY AOSP-BASED ROMS due to their proprietary nature. The scope of these functions goes beyond simple vendor blobs and enters the realm of 3rd party intellectual property licensed to Samsung. The S Pen does work in all AOSP-based custom roms, however it acts simply as an alternative input device. Various open source 3rd party apps are available that take advantage of the Note 4's stylus (see above), but their functionality is a fraction of that of stock TouchWiz.

Typically if you do not do a Clean Install then you are not allowed to report errors or problems. If you Dirty Install and you do have problems then you will be asked to Wipe All and Clean Install and see if the problems still exist. This is a DAILY changing rom and any bug that you found was not working on the previous day's build may be fixed with todays daily build. On a side note, the code implemented to fix that bug could potentially break something that worked on that previous build. So reporting problems on a day old build that you dirty flashed over whichever build of whichever rom you had flashed previously will not be accepted as a true error.

Problems known to happen after a Dirty Installation
    1. A muddled up mess of a system. You are taking a rom and installing a newer rom with changes over the top of your old rom. Between these two periods of time during which you used your phone and created data, changed system options, and used apps. This is absolutely increasing the risk of causing problems somewhere in the system/data partitions. Some people have luck with Dirty Flashing. However, it's always hit-and-miss because of what we mentioned above about bug fixes breaking previously working functions. Dirty flashing doesn't only create problems if the source code of the system data and the system settings of the new build are significantly different from those of your previous build. That's not to say that Clean Installing won't ever create problems, but only bugs present on a Cleanly Installed rom are relevant for development purposes.

    * Clean Install: Fully wiping everything and installing the rom onto a fully clean system/data partition of the phone.

    * Dirty Install: Installing the rom and GApps over top of the older rom to save time and not have to reinstall all the user apps and tweaking system and app settings that usually take a lot of time to set up as you like.

    Bugs
    - When the phone is powered off from Lineage and the battery is not removed, the battery charge will fall at an approximate rate of 2% per hour of time that the phone is powered off without the battery having been removed since it was powered off. This does not occcur when powering off from TWRP, having first powered up to TWRP or rebooted to TWRP from Lineage. It also does not occur if the battery is removed from the phone before being put back in, either after powering off from Lineage or being pulled out while Lineage is running. This bug has affected the apq8084 chipset since Oreo (as described by the S5 Plus community, which uses the same chipset). However, the S5 Plus had received official lineage-15.1 and 16.0 support despite being affected by this bug. Furthermore, we have deduced that it must be caused by one or more of the 652 commits that separate the Nougat and Oreo kernel branches. We will never have the time to go through each and every one of these commits to fix this bug outright, but we are always open to suggestions.
    - If NFC is turned off when the phone is booted up, the NFC toggle will freeze in the "off" position and remain off until the phone is rebooted. If NFC is turned on when the phone is booted up, the NFC toggle will function properly to turn NFC both on and off. However, if NFC is turned off and the phone is rebooted, this bug will reappear.
    - The 2nd SIM slot does not work in any trlteduos variant.
    - VoLTE is not supported, and will not be supported for the foreseeable future.
    - You tell us!
