Hi,

after 2 days of searching, downloading and trying flashing stock images I finally successfully flashed stock image "Lenovo_Tab_4_8_TB-8504X_USR_S0011031_19124041525_Q12000_ROW_QPST" by QFIL.
After reboot tablet was in same state like after Lenovo Rescue and Smart assistant - still rebooting during boot (or before boot after Lenovo logo).

After this I installed TWRP again via fastboot, wiped data, cache, dalvik and installed LineageOS 18 ROM as well.

Result is again same. Tablet is booting with LineageOS boot logo animation and it is all. :(

Here is code from flashing:
Code:
Updating partition details...
Failed to mount '/persist' (Invalid argument)
...done
Full SELinux support is present.
MTP Enabled
Installing zip file '/sdcard/lineage-18.1-20230129-UNOFFICIAL-TB8504.zip'
Checking for Digest file...
Target: Lenovo/TB-8504X/TB-8504X:8.1.0/OPM1.171019.019/8504X_S001031_191204_ROW:user/release-keys
Patching system image unconditionally...

Here is code after flashing:
Code:

Patching system image unconditionally...
script succeeded: result was [1.000000]
Updating partition details...
Failed to mount '/persist' (Invalid argument)
...done

I really don't know what I can do with it :(
Can please you or anyone help me?

I'm no professional, but try flashing the persist image from the stock rom to the tablet using fastboot, then flash twrp to recovery as well. See if it fixes it.

Hi Magooskee,
this not solved boot issue with android-like systems. :(

But disappeared red alert about "Failed to mount /persist".
And thank you for it because it solved issue with WiFi in Ubuntu Touch (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ports-for-lenovo-tab4-8.4485851/post-88146281).

Try to flash stock rom using qfil with repartition , because in my case it fixed recovery and persist(wifi etc) issues , be careful any mistake turn your tablet into trash🙂

Just installed this on TB-8504X (model with LTE) together with FlameGapps
All seems to work, except the screen rotation sensor.

Using manual forced rotation (using 3rd party app) works fine. But Auto-rotate, though enabled, just does not pick up the orientation. I suspect it is the sensor.

Just feedback, rotation works fine for me.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11 (R), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

It's happening to all of us (see the "Known issues" section above). Updating some vendor blobs should fix it, but I think I'll need some help with it.

Are you still developing this project? Can Tab4 8 update to Android 12? How can I donate to you to keep this project going? Thank you, hope to hear from you soon.
Yes, I'm still working on it. I'm still waiting for Android 12 CAF releases targeting to msm8937. After they''re there, it should be possible to build it using the device trees from Android 11 (with a few changes).
