Can I just get confirmation, is no one else's phone overheating on the latest update? If so, I might need to factory reset and re-install it. Because my battery is finishing so fast! I used to be able to watch x265 10-bit with Software decoding, but on the latest version that and just normal apps decimate my battery and the power button gets very, very hot

Also, fakemanoan thank you so much for your great effort!

Perhaps your problem comes from an old battery + the CPU usage being constantly high. On my device the small cores are always performing at their maximum, which after some time generates heat and causes the whole interface to lag a lot

Screenshot_20221021-151200_hKtweaks.png
I'm however not experiencing overheating, and I did a clean flash.

I'm also wondering if that governor you were talking about was on... I've had huge sections of lag, and I don't know how to deal/stop that. The extreme battery usage isn't 100% of the time, too. It's odd, I might have to find something that monitors that much more closely.

I've had overheating with this phone before, but on this ROM I've had none. I do use a G920W8, but Sonico also says no overheating.

testing on S6 Edge and everything is working normally so far, the lags have decreased a lot after I added 1GB of swap memory, thanks for the time you're spending on the rom
I thought the kernel needs to support swap?

Code:
cat /proc/cpuinfo
doesn't show that it does have support. But when I created a swapfile:
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=swapfile bs=1024 count=524288
mkswap swapfile
swapon swapfile

cat /proc/meminfo
free -h

EDIT.

I don't think it's using it, the zram partition only shows

great to see a new ROM. Mine is still stock and the other day I got an update

PDAG920FXXU6EVG1

it seems to have brought emergency calls with no SIM to the party - I get more icons on the screen - does loading an aftermarket ROM play havoc with this update or ?

I installed it and everything is fine except phone app is a little buggy .
You cant turn call volume down . everybody around you can hear your calls
and the phone app itself is laggy and slow . im not complaining just letting you know the problems and appreciate the work you done . thanks alot
and i have one question : If you happened to fix these someday can i update trough phone's normal update or have to install the rom from scratch again ? thanks again
and sorry for sloppy english

Edit : uh i forgot another thing : I installed express vpn app and it showed Warning : you device is Rooted ... extra extra
but when i installed root checker it says : Your device is not rooted properly .
I dont know its a bug or not but i thought its worth mentioning .

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 12 (S), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

After a long wait, here is Android 12L for the Samsung Galaxy S6! Though it is a beta with some issues, I figure I release it.

Based on the Exynos7420 source code.

What's working:
  • Bluetooth
  • Telephony (Calls, SMS, Mobile Data)
  • WiFi/Hotspot
  • NFC
  • GPS
  • Camera
  • Fingerprint
  • HWC
What's not working:
  • VoLTE and other proprietary Samsung stuff

Fast charging should work just fine. It's probably your charging cable that's causing the issue

VPN is working fine, LED is working fine.
With my phone I have to disable the fast charging option for fast charging to work.
GApps work fine.
What phone are you using?

Hi thanks all for the reports. I'll see if I can work on a fix for the call issues along with official support for W8 models.

I am still working on the project, so dont worry about that, but just expect a small delay between releases while I sort some stuff

When is the next update coming out?? Really excited for it!!

New Lineage OS releases for Novemeber. Major changes include:
- Synced with LineageOS sources, we have novemeber security updates
- UI performance dramatically improved due to prebuilt HWC components
- Bluetooth audio fixed, we were building 64bit HAL for some reason
- ZRAM values tweaked
- Added experimental aptX
- Added experimental freeform windows
- Core hotplugging disabled, causes issue with BT audio when screen is off
- Swapped to LE video codecs for now
- New power saver mode - 4 small cores, 2 big cores, tweaked frequencies (jank implementation lol)
- OpenCL fixed
- Source now lives at https://github.com/samsungexynos7420
- Fixed GPS rollover bug

Download G920 and G925F versions here:

Why was this release delayed?
I planned to have oreo graphics working, and although they work just fine, our HWC was actually broken, going all the way back to the first lineage 18.1 that was released. I could have released the r22p graphics in a working state, and we would get a nice performance bump in benchmarks, but HWC would still broken. I think a smoother UI is better in this case.

In order to get the faster r22p graphics, I need to rebuild from source, the current prebuilts simply dont support it. Our current source needs fixing up to get HWC working. So...

If anyone reading this knows of someone who can help us fix our HWC, please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for the update. No support for w8 yet right? At the moment I'm on stock testing a 'new' s7 edge battery which drains fast and has the phone crashing dropping from 65% to 0% 😐.

I dirty flashed the latest version onto the 2022-10-08 version. Thank you for all your hard work!

Anyone else NOT getting any GPS signal?

Network location works fine, but even after letting the phone in clear view of the sky for more than 30 minutes, I'll still seeing NO satellite at all (using SatStat and GPSTest).

I've found the following in logcat though:
thanks for the report and uploading a logcat. I will look into what is causing that.

Regarding the vulkan issue, not sure. I didn't do anything to break it, so not sure whats going on there. I will see what I can do.

Currently I am attempting to fix up the BSP so I can build HWC components from source. Will be nice to do that, also is kind of required to get the newer driver working.

I am redoing a lot of parts of the tree. That will take time though. That being said I will still release security update releases, and maybe if I get around to it, I will build crDroid or something. The future is bright for 7420 users!

I have echo in phone calls!
Echoing in calls has been a problem for Samsung devices for a long time. Not aware of a fix as of yet. But using some old mixer_paths tweaks, the problem can be mitigated somewhat

    My banking/other apps arent working!
Chances are this is due to SafetyNet failing. In order to get SafetyNet to pass, you need to root your device with magisk, and install several magisk modules. This should fix the issue. However, SafetyNet will not natively pass due to invalid build fingerprints and SELinux permissive. It has been this way for a long time on the S6, and I might be able to get it working again, but it will take time. Use the above workaround for the time being

My camera wont flash properly when taking a picture
This is a bug on a lot of samsung devices. The native AOSP camera app does not properly sync the flash, however using third party camera applications does not have this issue, so until this problem is resolved use third party camera app, like GCam.

I have a problem not on this list!
Post relevant problem and debugging information (ie logcat, last_kmesg, syslog etc) here or on github
Use an app like Syslog and attach logs. If I don't have logs, the chances of me fixing it is low.

    What devices are currently supported?
Currently the G920F and G925F are supported.
ROMs for the Canadian and Sprint models will come later

If you want to see the project improve, help by contributing code on GitHub!
