I've tried many camera apps (different gcam versions, opencamera) and there is not a single one that works. It always freezes at one point.

Can anyone suggest a camera app that just works? Or any bugfixes I can apply?

I am happy to share that I found a relatively reliable gcam version for the Redmi Note 7.

What seems to be working reliably: Back Camera Photo, Front/Back Camera Video

With some other modes, e.g. Front camera photo, it freezes sometimes, but you can still tap on other modes and unfreeze the app.

The ROM itself works quite well. It's fast and battery life seems good. So thanks!

I'm currently on march build and I use only this phone since then. (april OTA updates ruined system - google play services didn't work anymore. It's my only phone, can't play with testing, because I need it every day. )
I practice as always clean install + smallest gapps package (currently Nikgapps core).

To the point: Camera related issues​

Suggested fix to use certenly camera app and custom config I don't see this as a appropriate solution! I encounter camera related problems on every step, doesn't matter which app I used. Tested with open camera, proCam X and furthermore Viber, Noteblock (pdf scaner like app), ... always the same.
Camera freezes or is lagging. You never know, if picture will be captured and later saved. Roughly say it fails on 50% or more of shoots. Absolutely unreliable and from my point of view a critical bug.

Suprisingly even after a fresh reboot is not always reliable. When it fails, I just press home button and close the app - wipe it from last opened apps. Then I repeat task. Maybe then works, maybe not. It's extremely annoying try 5 times or more for succesful saved image (doesn't matter in which app). You miss important moments...

Try formatting your SD card with a computer and filling it with data. I bet it fails.

P.S. IPv4 works on SIM slot 2, but not on slot 1. Try putting your SIM card in slot 2.

The OTA Updater works fine as long as you have the signed recovery image flashed.

For the camera, try changing video resolution to 720p or 4K. Seems like 1080p is bugged.

I don't have the signed recovery image because the link in the original post asks for a decryption key. So I flashed with TWRP. Best to dirty flash then?

It's normal. Just select Yes in recovery when it asks to install anyway.

I was mistaken. It is slot 1 that has working IPv4 on the May 6 build. Unfortunately this means you can't have IPv4 and an SD card at the same time. I have not tried the new build with a SIM card yet.

UPDATE: IPv4 works in both SIM slots on the May 20 build.

This problem is annoying.

1. Install Open Camera
2. If it freezes, press this button a bunch of times:

I find this faster than closing and reopening the app.

Well, that's all gūd and nais but other apps still use the default camera. Especially troublesome with BeReal when you only have a two minute window to take the photos! Can we expect a fix in the future, or will it be a permanent downside to this ROM?

problem is described here
I have other simcard in different network which works fine and this simcard works fine in other phones
and I tried both slots, same result

I have to upgrade rom on this phone, for my mother. Is it this rom enough stable for daily use and pretty smooth ? Or is it better to stay on another A12 rom ?

Good evening,

First of all, thank you for the ROM. It is smooth and runs great.

I have encountered one major issue: the inability to connect to the internet using mobile data. For me, nothing has worked so far, and I have spent the majority of two days trying to fix this.

I have added two SIM cards from the same provider (VIVO in Brazil), but it doesn't connect at all, in neither of the slots. I have tried choosing all different types of network to test it (#*4336*#), LTE and others, adding internet provider information manually, adding it automatically—nothing has worked so far. I have also installed two different builds (from 20th May and 07th May).

Wi-Fi connection works wonders, but I cannot make mobile data work. I can see the 4G/H+ signs when I scroll to Internet/Mobile Data options or enter Settings, but it never appears on the top bar next to the mobile data icon.

Would you have any suggestions?

I was able to test a build from 18th January (here) made by @twu2, and mobile data (4G and H+) is back to normal.

Hey, you should stay on something you know it's fully stable. RN7 has camera problems on A13
