  • What is XOSP?
    • XOSP is an after-market firmware based on CodeAuroraSources (CAF) destinated for a wide range of Android phones. The name stands for the Xperia Open Source Project and the project was initially created by @nilac for the Galaxy S+ (his old device) years ago when back then the ROM was called S+ Reborn. The vision was to create a minimal bloat free ROM which included Sony Xperia specific apps and various tweaks users would expect from a custom ROM.
S+ Reborn became a success and was eventually ported to different devices so from there it was rebranded to XOSP. Calin worked on the project for 2 years always trying to improve it. Eventually, Because of the fact Lollipop was buggy on his Galaxy S+, he decided to take a break from development until he got his hands on the Zenfone 2 in 2015 and from then he started again the development of XOSP and continued it ever since.
  • How do we release updates?

    • We release new updates for our Official devices each week by providing Delta updates to the users,so maintainers of the other devices can do the same as well if they want to keep up with the changes. We will make full zip releases only once a month except special cases like for example XOSPDelta is not working or something like it.

  • You can find all the included features right:

It appears that somebody didn't follow the instructions on how to compile the ROM in the right manner....
Also this thread template is really old, better check for the new one here: https://github.com/XOSP-Project/xda_thread_template
Will surely check the template. There were some errors like light.so file was not there and keyboard was missing and the stock camera was little laggy thats why i made a patch

The camera is still laggy
I install Google camera
It's only able to take one photo then freeze

For all
The performance is great
Buttery smooth
Battery is standard,, imo
AND too pure,, need more costumization like battery style clock navbar and status bar
LOL

And it's not support Google assistance,, just a Google now and voice search

@nilac I Appereciate & Loved Your Work! Sad to know that XOSP Development will end in September..I Used This ROM for my previous devices Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, Mi Max (hydrogen), Redmi Note 3 (kenzo) and i love how it gave feeling of Xperia Phones in non-Xperia phones!
And I Pray That You Do Something Creative & Continue XOSP or Start a New Project in Near Future!

Thanks Again.

If you are looking for Sony feeling there are a couple of alternatives such as PexoMod (which I have been using on my Ultra on AICP/RR and the Max under RR) and it works well. Very well.

By using a Sony theme for Substratum and the Xperia boot animation I would say it is possible to get "very Sony" without any problems. It is actually "more Sony" than their Concept ROM (Hybrid ROM which I use on my XZU). Stamina Mode isn't necessary when power management is done well.

My device is pretty much "Sonyfied" in the same way as my Xperia on either AICP or Hybrid ROM.

I am sorry for the misunderstanding here.

My post was not about criticizing the ROM but a comment on the general area of "Sonyfication" since it seems like XOSP is a project reaching its end - both based on the post I replied to and also the XDA Portal.

So my intention was to simply clarify that those who want the "Xperia experience" on their device can have it even when the XOSP winds down.

My post was simply informational about the state of "Xperiafication". I fully respect this ROM and really like the idea of making something that can be flashed once and for all with a "full Xperia" experience.

I have been using Sony devices for a long time and the XOSP ROM hasn't been available for those I have been used (Xperia Z, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z2 lately).

It is also my understanding that most users of other devices doesn't visit the "Sony Device Cross-Development - Apps" area where PexoMod et al reside.

What I can recommend you as a ROM developer is consider looking into making an "Xperified" Lineage OS ROM when XOSP reaches the end of the line. An "Unofficial" Lineage OS build with integrated PexoMod would be an excellent addition and also a replacement for the XOSP. Such a ROM would be broadly similar to the Sony Concept ROM they rolled out for the Z3.

The beauty of Sony is their pretty light modifications, which enable most of their apps to run well on other devices. The major exceptions are their camera and some features such as X-Reality and Stamina Mode. BionZ and X-Reality are DRM based so they require the device to have an intact TA partition with encryption keys.

I appreciate your work so don't consider my posts to be "criticism" of the ROM or what you are doing. They are just meant as information and some suggestions, especially to those who worry about losing their "Xperia experience".

It is my understanding that XOSP originally came into being for Samsung devices as a way of eliminating TW in favor of the slick elegant Sony experience. The basic idea is similar to what happened in the Sony sector where a lot of people will "Xperia" their AOSP/Lineage ROMs.

My own process of "Xperification" started when I got my Ultra and flashed PAC ROM as a replacement for the Sony stock based ROMs and the need arose. So I did a full setup at the time so I think any project (be it a ROM or bringing Sony apps and services) aimed at making different devices "Xperia" is excellent and deserves all praise.

Keep up your good work!
