Hello Nijel8, faced with a shortage of RAM and decided to try swapfile, but any my manipulatation in the terminal did not lead to the desired result.
1. dd if=/dev/zero of=swapfile bs=1m count=1024
2. chmod 600 swapfile
3. mkswap swapfile
4. swapon swapfile
Result: invalid arguments
what I just did, both on the internal memory and on the external map, the same errors, somewhere on the forum I read that this is a command error of dd, and need to use fallocate -l 1G swapfile, but this app same error, not enough space...
maybe the core does not support swap? or am i doing something wrong?
Tnx for your work)

Can we take firmware blobs from another S65x device and use them? There are still Xiaomi blobs that are stuck on Nougat like the camera.

I wonder how the Kenzo and Redmi Note 3 Pro crowd do ROM porting. They even have a 9.0 Pie ROM working.

Yes the A9's use the same primary camera ISO cell Samsung sensor as the most of Mi Max units. Otherwise it wouldn't be a news & wouldn't post it hire. Working & working as supposed are two different things. Whit this the requirement for building a good working Oreo ROM's for Max will be met.

I'm wondering if someone will try to create Oreo again, is this the end of Mi Max?
We already have well-developed roms only require a few amendments.

I did try that.. Took blobs from some Sony and another SD650 treble devices I don't remember... That's how I got GPS and most of the hardware working as treble device but couldn't get RIL working so I gave up entirely on the Oreo bring up.
Making old style Android 8+ working is not a problem. That's how Note 3 and alike are doing it and I don't see the point doing it myself. The real problem is bringing treble to device with no-treble support from manufacturer...

Howdy.. so the hydrogen is, now, in the bin or what?
you know we would've rejoiced the nijel8 oreo without the treble :D

How do you find the Max 1 vs Max 3? I'm itching for a new phone, I tried out the Max 3 at the store and I couldn't find any major improvement except for the slightly larger screen. The old 650 chip feels just as fast as the 636. I also tried the Mi 8 Lite SD660 and Mi 8 SE SD710 and again, I didn't find them much faster either.

I might go with a Huawei 8X Max for the gigantic 7" screen but I'm worried about Huawei not allowing bootloader unlocks and locking out root access. That phone runs a SD660 instead of a Kirin so it could be good for Lineage.

Yeah.. And what are the advantages of Android Pie over Nougat, in general?

Asking this because previously, when putted similar question about switching to Oreo, people here discouraged doing it saying the Oreo had no essential changes and only some bloating ones. So, are Pie system's different sort of changes?

Please, provide this exceptional ROM continuation link, now in Pie! :) As I understand there is one :)

Don't worry, buit-in su install option got removed from TWRP a while ago but somebody forgot to remove orphaned UI strings...
BTW TWRP has screenshot feature you know...

yeah. I know. But something unimaginable happened to my hydrogen.
My father tried to rip off the back plate of the phone to insert the second SIM card, damaging the phone buttons which I had to get replaced from a shady shop who might have cheated me. :p
He was still living in the OLD era when we used to remove the back plate to insert SIM.
I know..weird. :p
if this is still your primary, we could've done with a treble-less oreo ROM or skipped it entirely for PIE.
One and only stable build. :p

I'd suggest max 3 (big screen + nijel8) or pocof1 (845 + other rom devs)

AudioFX is still flaky on Bluetooth and wired headphones. Sometimes it works after a restart, sometimes it doesn't, it seems like the effects aren't being applied properly in the mixer pipeline.

I've given up on it so I flashed Magisk, installed the Dolby Atmos plug-in and all is good now. These Xiaomi Bluetooth Sports in-ears have amazing sound and they're so cheap.

    FINAL RELEASE. NO MORE UPDATES!!!

    24304779

Bug reports with logs are very welcome!!! Without logs I most likely won't be able to help you/fix things...

Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik, flash ROM:
Download: - FINAL RELEASE! - dedicated builds for both hydrogen and helium...

    - HYDROGEN: lineage-14.1-20180919-UNOFFICIAL-hydrogen.zip

    - HELIUM: lineage-14.1-20180915-UNOFFICIAL-helium.zip

Then flash firmware update for your device:
    - for HYDROGEN - you don't need to flash this again till next MIUI version number change and if you want to:

    firmware-HYDROGEN_MG-9.2.1.0.zip

    - for HELIUM - you don't need to flash this again till next MIUI version number change and if you want to:

    firmware-HELIUM_MG-9.2.1.0.zip

My AFH corner for anything else(firmwares, old releases, fixes): Mi Max

Flash latest 7.1 ARM64 opengapps package of choice.

If you are updating this ROM previous release try dirty flash first... You might get away with it...:) Wipe clean if problems and start over.

Native SU(root access) is and will always be present in this ROM.
    SELinux status: Enforcing
