Houston, I have a problem. Ha ha. OK so I was running the 06/15/2018 build and all was going fine but I was on the CPD1 and decided to upgrade my modem and bootloader to the latest. Saw Ripee's file for BL_N910VVRUCQ12 and CP_N910VVRUCQ12 and bricked my phone. I can get into download mode and still have Unlocked developer. Problem is, I can not boot into TWRP Recovery. Does anyone have a zip file of just an unlocked bootloader and modem I can flash so I can Odin TWRP? Thanks.

Noticed today streaming music with the screen off for probably half an hour and when I turned the screen on to check the time I saw No Service at the top and then my music stream cut out. I wonder if it would have stayed on if I left the screen off and the sim died when I hit the power button for the screen

I just did a build w/the latest sepolicy-- the results are here. No SIM on TMO, and the denials are indicated. I did a build with a few additions giving some generous permissions to mdm_helper and audio_server:

Now I have SIM. I also saw a bunch of these:

06-18 12:31:20.785 660 660 W zygote : Failed to remove /acct/uid_1058: Permission denied (there are lots of these)

They were unaccompanied by selinux denials however.

I am also seeing some denials (non selinux) to webview:

06-18 12:33:02.506 6034 6034 E /system/bin/webview_zygote32: Failed to make and chown /acct/uid_99002: Permission denied

Webview seems to work as far as i can tell however. I do use the multprocess webview. This is probably worth looking into still.

Will not be able to build again until at least tomorrow night, but wanted to share this. Running now in enforcing and we'll see what happens over the next 24-48 hrs. Hopefully zygote not being able to remove /acct/uid stuff won't be a deal breaker.

Enjoy!

Hi there!

Test build for trlte users:
lineage-15.1-20180618-UNOFFICIAL-trlte.zip

This build has SELinux in enforcing mode.
As @fattire was telling that in his trltetmo with SELinux enforcing there were issues with the SIM, today I've addressed all the denials that were in my logs and setted SELinux to enforcing and it seems to run just fine on my trltexx (SIM is working as in permissive mode), so, can anyone test this build and let me know how it goes?

Also I'm not getting any system errors, if this is still an actual issue, try to use MindTheGapps as I think there are some problems with opengapps at the moment. If the system error issue is gone already, nevermind and use whatever gapps you like.

@_mone @ rupee

Many hours on, Sim has been relatively stable, though a few reboots here and there a few hours back

No sign of any selinux issues at least in the front end, have all my magisk modules loaded and running, usual tweaks applied etc, nothing to report....

Sorry, but cant test further because Here Wego does not find gps (like other has reported too) and i need it for daily navigation.
It's the only issue why i can't install 8.1 as main os.
tried with various open-gapps variant's and MindTheGapps, with and without mgisk.
Any suggestions how can i fix this?
Other gps-apps work.

Robert

PS: "SELinux in enforcing mode" works as suggested.

Official LineageOs 15.1 for galaxy s5 lte-a.
The next one, our note 4 ???

Doesn't mean much, especially with the bugs reported around here, and a different way of handling SIM as quoted:

persist.radio.multisim.config=none is the only line that's killing SIM 1. _mone disabled it a while back in his quest to adapt the approach used in the stock rom to handle both SIMs. The only thing he is sure of is that the Note 4 duos handles dual SIM capability differently than the S5, which had been the basis of our inspiration from the get go. I can comment it out regardless of what the simslotcount line is set to and it should fix SIM 1 at least.

Keep in mind that "official" isn't significant. Only by fixing bugs and patching can we then try going (applying for) "official" - NOT the other way in which we become "official" and magically all the bugs fix themselves. The "official" moniker is also not much more than a guarantee of auto-generated weekly builds, and in that aspect our devs are doing better (@ripee does nightly).

GPS not working

I have a Note 4, SM-N910F on Lineage OS 15.1-20180420-UNOFFICIAL-trlte

Since flashing Lineage OS 15.1 I've been having problems with the gps. I use 2 apps for navigation 'HERE WeGo' & Google Maps. Gmaps works but only if I use High Accuracy (gps, wifi, mobile data) and HERE does not work at all. I also tried 'GPS Status' using device only (GPS & sensors, but wifi & mobile network off) and cannot get a fix even under clear skies after 30 mins or so.

HERE WeGo which I generally use for navigation flashes up a message "To use driving guidance go to settings and switch to a mode that turns on the GPS in your device". But this is already on (set to high accuracy)!

Okay I believe the GPS chip works as it would be too much of a coincidence for it to fail when flashing a new rom.

I really like the rom and apart from one other problem I'd really like to continue using it. So any advice would really be appreciated on how to resolve this.

I have noticed for many months a problem with the Google Translate app when it is called from other apps like the Chrome. When I select some text and call translate option from context menu any application stops.
There were no such problems with the LineageOS 14.1 ;). When will it be fixed?

Thanks

Since the 06.02 build, there has been disrupted music playback in the World of Guns game. Could you check it out why?

Any update?

I'm getting pretty bad slowing down/lag when using this rom for a while.
Eventually I have to close all apps from the task switcher and that fixes the problem for a short while.

Anything I can do to fix this?
I like the rom a lot and would like to stay on it, but this is a deal breaker for a daily driver.

910F with dql1, newest build and clean install.

Thanks!

Did your clean install involve formatting data and wiping sdcard and at least removing the Android folder from Ext Sdcard?

Never had lag on any build of this ROM, ever, ever

How many millionty apps do you have running on it to make that happen? Lots of social media (cr)apos/games?

Settings > System > Developer Options > Memory...check what's running and at boot...find the hogs by tapping Memory Used By Apps, then you can disable apps at boot by tapping Apps Started At Boot on this screen and then the App, then disabling by tapping Start At Boot

This is basic stuff.....

I do have Greenify installed by its only greenifying 3 apps

No other tweaks/apps used..

Wasn't aware of the ext sdcard, so I'm gonna try that.
Otherwise it was a complete wipe.

Avg memory used on mine is 78% or 2.3gb.

It's not a bad habit to get into to remove the Android folders on internal and external Sdcard to remove remnants of earlier installs, they've been known to cause issues

If you don't want to wipe the internal or external Sdcard via advanced wipe, as you may have media etc on them, you can always remove the folders in TWRP by going into Advanced > File Manager then navigating to Sdcard (internal) and extsdcard (external), tapping the Android folder, then pressing the blue arrow in bottom right, selecting delete and swiping...

Your average mem usage is bonkers, never seen anything even in that ballpark on my end

Is there a particular reason why you are using such an old build?

I thought I was using the latest unofficial build and for some reason I didn't check properly  To be honest with you I was completely unaware daily builds were being released. In the past I've tended to flash and forget and it's been several years since I last did this and I was probably unaware I could do this without losing my apps & personal data.

If everything is working after flashing the latest how often do you recommend I update this ROM? I've also messed around with the gps.config file so I presume an updated ROM will overwrite this?

Since we are on the same version (Oreo) I presume I can do the following and avoid having to reinstall apps and personal data bit by bit?
1. Backup with titanium back up and do a nandroid through TWRP
2. Download all the things I need to install rom (rom, gapps, other stuff you want)
3. Go into TWRP recovery
4. Wipe dalvik cache, cache, data, and system.
5. Install rom
6. Install gapps
7. Install optional extras
8. Restart system and boot into rom
9. Download titanium back up and restore my apps.

Many thanks for your help :)

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device. All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. If you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

    Code:
     * [B][U]Your warranty is now void.[/U][/B]
     * We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or your getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
(Please read them BEFORE posting anything in the thread!)
Q: Whenever I try flashing any lineage-15.1 build, I get the following error in TWRP: Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
A: This error appears whenever you try to flash an Oreo-based rom within a version of TWRP older than 3.2. Simply flash the linked below version 3.2 or higher, reboot back into recovery, and flash the rom zip again.

Q: When will any of the variants receive official builds from LineageOS?
A: Not before all the issues listed under "Bugs" below are fixed.
Note to Junior Members: It is frowned upon in the XDA community to ask for ETA's on builds, features, bug fixes, or other improvements to the code or its functionality.

Q: What will some of the differences be between unofficial and official builds?
A: The following technical changes will take effect:
    - Built-in su root will be removed: You will have to download and install the su addon from LineageOS Extras.
    - Phone status > LineageOS updates will be activated, allowing for the OTA downloading of official builds.
    - The official builds will be digitally signed by Lineage to prove that they do not contain malicious source code and are able to pass the Play Store's SafetyNet check.
Note: Each official build will be cooked and released by LineageOS on their schedule and only if no major unexpected bug is introduced into the source code. The developers will announce if and when their source code will be submitted to Lineage for official support and when we can expect to see the first official builds.

Q: Why is my phone warmer/hotter and the battery noticeably drained after flashing a build?
A: The wipe process that is a part of the installation procedure deletes some important configuration data, ie. BATTERYSTATS, which keep track of the battery's power level. These data ensure a balanced power management profile for all the hardware components of your phone. This is normal and nothing to worry about at all. Your battery drain will return to normal within a day or two.

If, however, you notice increased battery drain over a few days, check your signal. Android automatically re-directs battery power to the antennas to compensate for a weak signal from the tower to which your phone is connected at that time. If your signal is strong, check the following:
    1) You missed one of the Wipe steps in the flashing procedure.
    2) You are running an old bootloader or modem. Flash the most recent one listed for your variant either under the links below. Note: Use the "AP" button in Odin to flash ripee's combined BL_CP tar files.
    3) How old is your battery? Official replacement Samsung batteries typically last around 1 year if you recharge them regularly, ie. once a day. Since the Note 4 is almost 4 years old, it is normal for your original battery to start failing, but official Samsung batteries should not cost more than USD 20 nowadays.
    4) If all else fails, start over! Go through the entire installation procedure, including flashing a stock Marshmallow build, and going from there. Do NOT skip any steps this time!

    Q. Flashing a build failed with the message "eMMC Write Fail".
    A. This is the infamous embedded Multi-Media Controller bug that indicates that your internal flash memory is dead or dying. Do NOT try any tricks or crazy ideas to fix it, as they are all hoaxes! The ONLY way to get rid of it is to open your phone up and replace its logic board. :p

Important information about stock S Pen functionality!
The apps, libraries, and drivers that allow for the advanced S Pen-based functions in stock TouchWiz and TouchWiz-based custom roms WILL NEVER BE INCLUDED IN ANY AOSP-BASED ROMS due to their proprietary nature. The scope of these functions goes beyond simple vendor blobs and enters the realm of 3rd party intellectual property licensed to Samsung. The S Pen does work in all AOSP-based custom roms, however it acts simply as an alternative input device. Various open source 3rd party apps are available that take advantage of the Note 4's stylus (see above), but their functionality is a fraction of that of stock TouchWiz.

    How to install SPenCommand
    1. Install The SELinux Switch and Select SELinux mode as PERMISSIVE,
    2. Reboot into System,
    3. Install SPenCommand.

Typically if you do not do a Clean Install then you are not allowed to report errors or problems. If you Dirty Install and you do have problems then you will be asked to Wipe All and Clean Install and see if the problems still exist. This is a DAILY changing rom and any bug that you found was not working on the previous day's build may be fixed with todays daily build. On a side note, the code implemented to fix that bug could potentially break something that worked on that previous build. So reporting problems on a day old build that you dirty flashed over whichever build of whichever rom you had flashed previously will not be accepted as a true error.

Problems known to happen after a Dirty Installation
    1. A muddled up mess of a system. You are taking a rom and installing a newer rom with changes over the top of your old rom. Between these two periods of time during which you used your phone and created data, changed system options, and used apps. This is absolutely increasing the risk of causing problems somewhere in the system/data partitions. Some people have luck with Dirty Flashing. However, it's always hit-and-miss because of what we mentioned above about bug fixes breaking previously working functions. Dirty flashing doesn't only create problems if the source code of the system data and the system settings of the new build are significantly different from those of your previous build. That's not to say that Clean Installing won't ever create problems, but only bugs present on a Cleanly Installed rom are relevant for development purposes.

    * Clean Install: Fully wiping everything and installing the rom onto a fully clean system/data partition of the phone.

    * Dirty Install: Installing the rom and GApps over top of the older rom to save time and not have to reinstall all the user apps and tweaking system and app settings that usually take a lot of time to set up as you like.

    Bugs
    - Temporary fix for random SIM death on all trlte variants, courtesy of _mone: boot-1223-trlte.img
    - The fingerprint scanner has not yet been integrated into either trlte or trlteduos.
    - The front camera force closes, requiring a reboot to work again.
    - Bluetooth does not see some wearable devices.
    - The built-in camera app is slow and crashes randomly, especially when the flash fires, requiring a reboot to function again.
    - Video recording in 4K resolution is not possible with either the built-in camera app or any 3rd party camera/camcorder apps.
    - 5GHz hotspot gives an error message when attempting to turn it on.
    - If NFC is turned off when the phone is booted up, the NFC toggle will freeze in the "off" position and remain off until the phone is rebooted. If NFC is turned on when the phone is booted up, the NFC toggle will function properly to turn NFC both on and off. However, if NFC is turned off and the phone is rebooted, this bug will reappear.
    - The 2nd SIM slot does not work in any trlteduos variant.
    - VoLTE is not (yet) supported.

    How's the SIM death? :D
No SIM death for now.. No SIM at all (LOL). I was even without wifi (that's fixed now). Hopefully I'll keep making progress, once it's a bit more stable I'll start sharing pieces of pie.

    Hi there!

    Test build for trlte users:
    lineage-15.1-20180728-UNOFFICIAL-trlte.zip

Looking for feedback regarding reboot and SIM issues.
For me the modem finally initialize properly with this build, a first from cm-14.1. Too early to speak about SIM death or reboot issue, I'll keep running this build the whole day (going out in a bit), when I'll be back home I'll see if there will be some feedback from you and decide if the changes are worth pushing to github or not.
