Thanks, to note for other people you need to update your build.prop otherwise it will fix orientation but invert touchscreen. I am providing link, download build.prop,
1.)copy to SD card.
2.)boot twrp.
3.)flash kernal and wipe dev/cache
4 mount system, copy build.prop to /system/, then set permission to 0644.
5. Reboot and your set to correct orientation.
Only thing added to build.prop was:
ro.sf.hwrotation=270

Here is the link for the build.prop.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/11mmn9ldeJzgm5lYA_BJ9xRoiJ4kM-cmV/view?usp=drivesdk

I will work on sensor fix and upload soon.

Thank you for sharing this info in such clear and concise detail! I'm looking forward to trying the Oreo upgrade, hopefully this weekend. Have you tried connecting to cellular network or just wi-fi? My goal is to get Sprint data network working after the upgrade.
I haven't had a need to use the data. Plus I don't even have the sim that went to the tab. Got rid of sprint along time ago. So unsure but I know the data options are blanked out for me but as I said I have not tested.

there is new build
have a look at original thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-mini/orig-development/rom-lineageos-15-0-s4-mini-t3702272
plz dont try to fix camera it may hurt you. if you have a good pc or laptop you can try building the rom from source its not difficult
i think @deadman96385 will build but i m not sure
I tried the new build, won't boot at all. I have already started the process of setting a build environment on my Ubuntu.

Download this file, and put it into your .repo/local_manifests folder (if it doesn't exist, make it), and repo sync!
https://github.com/Tab-3-snap/local_manifests/blob/master/lineage_local_manifests.xml
.build/envsetup.sh
no need to generate changelog
choose official as type
choose root magisk

YES PLZ DON'T WASTE TIME ON THIS IF YOU CANNOT DO THIS IN FEW MINUTES

source build/envsetup.sh
make lineage_serranoltexx-userdebug

you will need to modify the device tree to get camera working but first try to get a build.
i attached my roomservice.xml and on that command:
[email protected]:/media/stephen/linux/android/system$ make lineage_serranoltexx-userdebug
build/core/product_config.mk:253: *** _nic.PRODUCTS.[[device/samsung/serranoltexx/lineage.mk]]: "vendor/samsung/serrano-common/serrano-common-vendor.mk" does not exist. Stop.

To date I have had no luck with Sprint data which is odd because the SIM is recognized and it says it's registered on the Sprint network. I did flash the APN zip for Freedom pop with no effect. Otherwise smooth Oreo operation with the noted exceptions, I.e. camera not working.

how much memory your system have ?
I got a new laptop, 4gb ddr 3. I am willing to try but I don't know a ton, and I asked over in lineage irc lol they obviously don't like giving direction well.
I was able to dirty flash the updated build successfully. Not noticing anything different from earlier build.
Ya I did notice some difference, like a lot of apps I used would break because of java errors, new build fixed that. Far as the data, you might need the firmware for this device v. S4 mini.

I managed to compile Oreo 8.1 for serranoltexx after many bumps and hurdles. This isn't smt217s but with a few modifications it will work. Only thing not working is camera as far as I know.

1.) Flash new twrp select from image and to recovery.
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620767523

2.) Flash ROM.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sIYZj6YdeLmzMlnR8_bsCxuELubBEyLu/view?usp=drivesdk

3.) Flash sensor update.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mSpLGYtcMJ9v--tDbcKzTKMUxw9XRTdf/view?usp=drivesdk

4.) Flash kernal
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620768673

5.) Flash patch
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4343668&d=1511732638

6.) Flash gaps, this is a unofficial for Oreo 8.1
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1v6NjwPACZVuMSheEu6naylZsb6vLEqyo/view?usp=drivesdk

7.) Flash root (optional).

Congrats on the new laptop. I hope @DarkFrenzy can help you and point me in the right direction regarding firmware needed to get Sprint data working. I appreciate what you have shared to date. Good luck and please keep us updated.
New build up, give it a try if you want

I had an issue trying to send a file via Bluetooth to my friend's phone. The pairing was successful but the file transfer failed repeatedly. It may not be ROM related though. Screen recording failed the one time I tried to use it. I wish you luck in troubleshooting those issues you mentioned and look forward to testing your future builds. Thanks!
I tried within Bluetooth running it as a hotspot, sending files, playing audio to another device, no issues. There is other codecs that's can be used under developer options, but my assumption it was the receiving device issue.
