GPS fix

hello. does anyone know how to get the gps working on the x compact with this unofficial los16? ive tried all the gps stats, gps data, gps essentials, satstat, all those but my device sometimes sees 16 satellites but never locks on and gets a fix. i dont know what else to do. on stock oreo satellites work. was anyone able to figure this out?

I had a bit of trouble getting it to work, coming from the (unstable) Treble roms.
I had to wipe and flash everything a few times, then it booted but the initial setup kept crashing, I rewiped, reflashed, booted it, then rebooted to install opengapps, and then it worked.
This rom is great, thanks a lot! @Above: my GPS works fine.

First run Bootloop

I flashed this on a brand new stock XC. First I disabled windows 10 Driver Verification, then used ADB and installed TWRP no problem. Then wiped cache/dalvik, then installed latest build of LOS, then after that TWRP wants to install the TWRP app if not installed. If I swipe to install TWRP, I would get in a bootloop showing the LOS animation for a long time. I wiped and started again. I had to NOT install TWRP after flashing.
In TWRP after the flash it asked to install the TWRP application. If I install it, bootloop, if I dont install TWRP application the phone boots up normally for first run. I used Gapps NANO no magiks. I hope this helps someone. The bootloop made my battery really really hot. That was how I got out of the bootloop animation and LOS loaded fast no problems so far. Even if I just backup and restore the same file, if prompted to install TWRP app, if I try installing it, bootloop. If I DO NOT let TWRP try to install, the phone boots up fine. I dont understand that but I knew I already had TWRP because I ADB install it so, I just ignored the prompt to install TWRP and it worked!!!
I want also to report that the Trebuchet launcher does not respond to scaling the display to larger size, the icons dont get larger, this has been reported in another thread over at freaktab with the Trebuchet launcher on another LOS for another phone.

Hope this helps someone.

First charge since flashing

Now it needs a charge.

This new XC is finally indicated need to charge since my last post 11-17-2020, 04:24 PM.
The phone has been mostly idle for this time (almost 4 Days) but I send a couple text everyday. I have not had any crashing / freezing. I have used google maps for navigation but GPS location took a minute to find me with accuracy using a 4G data connection on ATT cellular. I was using only Cell Tower GPS data, no WIFI.
WiFi has been on except to test GPS.
I did create a pin for locking but skipped fingerprint. I installed Nova Launcher and was able to scale the icons larger in display settings. I wish I had Trebuchet but thats not a big issue, I got BIG icons. Camera app worked for my banking app.
AOSP keyboard reported high battery usage since last charge, but I don't know if its normal.

Brand New XC is looking pretty solid with this ROM.

This sounds similar to the trouble i had (Post #191). Sooo you just wiped, flashed, repeated till it worked? Or did you change something in the process?

I'm stuck at bootloop, what did you wipe?

Hello,
My XC is in fastboot bootloop since I tried to flash the DRM fix so I wan't to flash another ROM (stock or not) via flashboot only because I can't upload files to the phone. Is it possible to do so ? Or can I do this via an SD card ?

Thanks

I just realize I could install minimal Open GApps instead of stock. Can I change it on a workiing machine or I need to reflash all ( LOS + GApps) from scratch ? Thanks

I THINK (!) you could just reflash LOS and then minimal Gapps. Reflashing LOS does not kill your data, but removes Gapps. Then reflash them directly afterwards, before rebooting (?).

Thanks for your tips ;) So I just need to reflash LOS and the new minimal GApps package with TWRP as I done it the first time ? Nobody has tried this on other LOS version or phone to confirm ?

Yes, it should exactly work like that. I have done it all the time, when an update of the ROM was released, for example. It is called a "dirty flash", if you did not know the name before.
If you don't do a wipe before flashing, your user data stays on the phone. Only Gapps are erased.
As a side note, this will only work with ROM-updates or the same ROM-version you are using right now. Downgrading the ROM, or dirty-flashing a different ROM, is never a good idea.

OK I just DL the pico GApps package (10x lighter than stock) and go to TWRP, wiping cache and will reflash LOS 16 + GApps

EDIT: 1st try, LOS run quick for the restart after reflash but the message 'Starting phone' stay for a log time like home doesn't load.. normal ? linked to GApps changed package ? after a restart, this loop still here, I wipped the cache after reflash, do I need to wipe another things ?

Might be normal. I had that one too after some updates. Just let it work for a couple of minutes. Should not take more than 15 mins though, depending on how many apps you had installed. If it lasts significantly longer, something might be wrong, but I could not think about anything that could have gone wrong. You used the SAME LOS build version, just a different Gapps package, right?

Retry and after 30 min, phone is still on "starting" message. Something is wrong with GApps replacement.
So I will to wipe the system and reflash from scratch. Can I save only datas ( apps + pram) with TWRP before ? If yes, where do I need to put this backup ?

This is really strange. I have no idea why this is happening and what went wrong. I am really sorry.
Do you still have a backup of your working system in TWRP? Then you could restore that and back your apps up with Titanium Backup. Then you could copy the Titanium folder to a computer, wipe everything and do a clean flash, and then put the folder back and restore the apps. I am not sure if restoring only data through TWRP would work, I never tried that... :-/
