Thanks to you, I am back on the latest Stock ROM. Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant and customizing the Stock.zip both worked.

But I still have problems with the encryption.
After a factory reset and format data in TWRP again, even with mounted /data and /system I get stuck with the lineage logo.

Is it necessary to flash magisk before? Which steps did you take at Magisk in Stock Rom?

So far I have flashed the image via TWRP. Is the flash process via ADB Sideload more recommended?

Thank you in advance.
I flashed my zips from Micro SD card. Formatted data - rebooted to recovery then wiped system/data/cache/dalvik then flashed Lineage zip along with Universal Disable Force Encryption zip and Pico 9.0 Gapps, waited 5mins and all booted well. Not sure what to suggest. Maybe be patient with the booting process?

Gave up after hours.
I keep running it on 8.1 stock rom.

Let the 16.1 ROM boot for 45 minutes and it didn't go beyond the lineage logo.

I have never had such problems with any device before.

Thank you very much for your help.
I am out.

If it helps anyone to figure out what to do, I successfully flashed this on top of 7.1.1 without formatting data and it booted right up in less than 2 minutes. It kinda says this in the op, but it's not all that clear. So some of you with problems flashing on to 8.1 you might want to downgrade and try it.......just a suggestion.

I made all kinds of backups and then just did a normal flash: wipe system, data, caches......then flashed rom and gapps. I booted and set up the rom first and then went back and flashed Magisk 19.3 for root. Good luck!!

Here's how I got LineageOS installed and working on my Lenovo TB-8704X, in case anyone who's having trouble is interested.
I flashed TB-8704X_S000026_170707_ROW_QFIL with Qualcomm_Flash_Image_Loader_v1.0.0.2 to get back to stock.
I flashed twrp and wiped everything (except for MicroSD)
Flashed LineageOS, OpenGAPPS and Magisk

So are you saying you dirty flash on top of 7.1.1. Boot into system, then go back into twrp. Wipe system, data etc and flash 8.1 clean and boot into system?

It can be as simple as that! Thank you.
Finally it worked.

My 8704V is currently bootlooping in the Lenovo screen. My fault totally though, as I didn't make a backup of the system.
Downloaded the stock Nougat firmware, but apparently it doesn't want to boot into edl mode either for flashing with QFIL. :(

The link to the stock 8.1 was in my original post. Here it is again. But note, that it is for 8704F.

But you must register and sign in to download. It does also have sthe system image, so no "dd" have to be done.

Firstly, thanks a lot for porting this rom to the 8" model! :D The only thing that I have found not working so far is USB-OTG access. TWRP is failing to mount it as well though so I'm not entirely sure where the problem lies.

Same. Both me and my son play game Emulators with wireless gamepad but we're forced to use my Poco until it gets fixed? There's no way I'm going back to stock Oreo

For those who stucked at boot loop or error on wipe data cache.
Please follow below thing should be remember...

Who came from stock 8.1-
Side load this ROM from minimal fastboot tool.
Procedure-
Copy downloaded ROM to minimal fast boot tool
And just rename "ltb"(whichever u like)

Open this bat file named "cmd-here"and device must be in adb mod by using twrp by opening in advance option select ADB SIDELOAD!!

Type below command -In CMD Window of minimal fastboot tool

"adb sideload ltb.zip"

Click enter button on your pc

Wait for few minutes to complete 100% installation
And in tab just swipe reboot to fastboot mode .
And
in fastboot mod type these following commands to proper boot or prevent system from bootlooping.

fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot

That's all wait 2-3 minutes for system should start first boot.

Note--Wiping cache, data will wipe all ur data including internal storage.
It's not treble implemented ROM.

Njoy the custom ROM.all credits goes to developer and his hard working.

I tested it.and absolutely superb.everything seems to be working.
Esp.the ghost touch problem was gone.i am very happy to having such a device with a custom ROM.
Thank u developer.

Please press thanks button if I helped u.
