Your build is a lot faster than the Android 10 build! However I made the mistake to apply my own wallpaper, so now I got a black screen. The only way to get the default wallpaper back is to reflash?
You can remove the wallpaper settings files.
wallpaper wallpaper_info.xml wallpaper_orig
Note: You might not have all three.

The files are located in /data/system/users/0

To remove them..

Boot into TWRP and use adb shell or TWRP's File manager to delete the wallpaper files.

Using adb shell.
Code:
[[email protected] manta]$ adb shell
~ # cd data/system/users/0/
/data/system/users/0 # ls -la
drwx------ 3 system system 4096 Apr 24 22:34 .
drwxrwxr-x 3 system system 4096 Apr 24 22:34 ..
-rw------- 1 system system 19297 Apr 13 00:30 app_idle_stats.xml
-rw------- 1 system system 137 Apr 11 19:38 appwidgets.xml
-rw-rw---- 1 system system 12588 Apr 24 22:34 package-restrictions.xml
drwxrwx--x 2 system system 4096 Apr 11 19:18 registered_services
-rw------- 1 system system 9397 Apr 24 22:34 runtime-permissions.xml
-rw------- 1 system system 10109 Apr 24 22:34 settings_global.xml
-rw------- 1 system system 9461 Apr 11 19:32 settings_secure.xml
-rw------- 1 system system 493 Apr 11 19:31 settings_ssaid.xml
-rw------- 1 system system 4279 Apr 12 05:14 settings_system.xml
-rw------- 1 system system 570241 Apr 24 21:50 wallpaper
-rw------- 1 system system 282 Apr 24 22:34 wallpaper_info.xml
-rwx------ 1 system system 607454 Apr 24 21:50 wallpaper_orig
/data/system/users/0 #
/data/system/users/0 # rm wallpaper*
/data/system/users/0 # exit
[[email protected] manta]$ adb reboot

Using TWRP's file manager.

TWRP-> Advanced-> File Manager

Navigate to data/system/users/0

Select the wallpaper file and Delete.
Select the wallpaper_info.xml file and Delete.
Select the wallpaper_orig file and Delete.

Once the wallpaper files are deleted, reboot to system.

The wallpaper_info.xml will be regenerated when you boot back into system and the default background/wallpaper will be active.

Cheers. :cowboy:

Agreed. On my 32 GB Nexus 10 this ROM is clearly faster than my previous LineageOS 14.1-20180611. Installing was a bit tricky because even Pico OpenGapps didn't fit on /system but resizing partitions solved that (following these instructions https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/nexus-10-gapps-fix-with-pie.4064613/). Now I have the disappearing icons but let's see what Nova Launcher does to that.
I have been using Lawnchair as a launcher for the last few weeks.
Wallpaper is still broken but, the app icons seem to stay.
Lawnchair 3 Alpha

Just did a quick check with Nova Launcher.
Wallpaper is still broken but, the app icons seem to stay.
Nova Launcher (Beta) | Nova Launcher Prime

I am guessing it is due to the way Lawnchair and Nova handle the icons.
Both have setting to adjust the icons to match current layout.
Since the broken icons do match the layout, maybe they get adjusted by the launcher to match?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I did not go though all the Nova settings.
There may be something that will get the wallpaper to display properly.

Cheers. :cowboy:

Thanks for the wallpaper conf files remove tip, at least now I have the default wallpaper. My remaing issues:
  • Can't change the wallpaper with Nova or from Android Settings though, both result in just black wallpaper.
  • Installed Magisk, that works except its SafetyNet check just says "SafetyNet API Error". I don't know if that's important for now, I use Nexus as a PDF reader and for some children's apps.
  • The navigation buttons (back, home, task switcher) on the very bottom are quite large, as if I had wrong DPI, but I haven't touched that.
  • YouTube app crashes on startup! I haven't looked into that, not essential... it keeps my kid off YouTube at least on one device :D
But the most important thing for me is that with this ROM my Nexus is not too slow to be unusable :)

HI,

I am reasonably familiar with flashing, having custom roms on several devices.
However, I am totally stuck with the nexus 10!
The nexus is running stock android 5.11.
I have installed TWRP - in fact I have installed several different versions of TWRP, ranging from 3.5 to 2.8.
However, when I try to flash this rom, I get invalid zip file format error 255,
I am not used to getting errors?

I format data, as shown, wipe all, then flash , but get invalid zip file EVERY time?

I am going mad

Anyone enlighten me?

Bad download?
You can check the download using md5sum or sha256sum.

I just downloaded from SourceForge and MediaFire.
Both md5 and sha256 matched my original build zip.
Code:
md5sum lineage-16.0-20210412-UNOFFICIAL-manta.zip
d7d0bc00ee1bc7408974b2af35cbedcb lineage-16.0-20210412-UNOFFICIAL-manta.zip
sha256sum lineage-16.0-20210412-UNOFFICIAL-manta.zip

Starting from the last stock Google rom.
mantaray-lmy49j

Both downloads were good and installed with twrp-3.5.2_9-0-manta.

Since this thread started out as a continuation of followmsi's builds, I overlooked a few things in the OP.
When I get time I will edit the OP to include a note and link about (re)partitioning.
I also need to add links for TWRP, OpenGApps and Magisk. ;)

Currently Lineage 16 still fits in the stock partition, if you plan to add GApps you will need to increase your system partition.

The twrp recovery log will show more and you can see what triggers the error.
What is running just before the error and what happens after the error?

Copy the twrp recovery log file, after the failed install.
/tmp/recovery.log

The easiest way would to pull it to your computer using adb.
adb pull /tmp/recovery.log[/I]

Without the TWRP recovery.log, everything is a guess in the dark. ;)

You can remove the wallpaper settings files.
wallpaper wallpaper_info.xml wallpaper_orig
Note: You might not have all three.

The files are located in /data/system/users/0

To remove them..

Boot into TWRP and use adb shell or TWRP's File manager to delete the wallpaper files.

Using adb shell.
Code:
[[email protected] manta]$ adb shell
~ # cd data/system/users/0/
/data/system/users/0 # ls -la

/data/system/users/0 #
/data/system/users/0 # rm wallpaper*
/data/system/users/0 # exit
[[email protected] manta]$ adb reboot

Using TWRP's file manager.

TWRP-> Advanced-> File Manager

Cheers. :cowboy:
Thanks for the instructions, the default wallpaper is back now!

Hi all. :)

I had some issues with my computer hardware a few weeks ago.
Long story short, new hardware and still updating/recreating what I lost.. ;)

followmsi figured out a fix for the newer (current) Netflix, this was not included in my last build.

Updated build.

New Changes:
- Disabled Google AVC codec to fix latest versions of Netflix. GitHub - Link
Credit to followmsi.

Hello, Is there any way to change the wallpaper for another one without getting a black screen?
No.

When the wallpaper is changed, the new image can not be rendered.
That is why you get no wallpaper. (Black screen.)

Need to find a fix that works with manta(Lineage 16).
Along with other issues. ;)

Cheers. :cowboy:

PS.
When I get time, I will change the default image and run a new build to see if it renders properly.
This will not fix the issue but, it will give us something different to look at. ;)

In case it might benefit others....to install this version, plus Magisk-v23 and OpenGApps Pico I had to increase the size of /system by reducing the /cache size as detailed in my post https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/nexus-10-gapps-fix-with-pie.4064613/post-85347427 (a reply to the original post https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/nexus-10-gapps-fix-with-pie.4064613/post-81978877)

Hi,
anyone having problems with Netflix crashing and rebooting the Nexus? It gets stuck sometimes getting random artefacts in the picture and then crashes.

I read about this in Reddit with stock ROM so it doesn't seem to be a ROM specific problem. It seems to have something to do with the resolution of the video.

Cheers
