any news from updating ?? last update is a month now?? still can not run youtube app (just it)
the original youtube app works fine, even on microg(see attachment)
if it doesn't work for you, use alternatives like youtube vanced or newpipe

also please don't ask for ETA, it's very disrespectful to the developer and just because that it hasn't been updated in a month doesn't mean it's unusable
(although he may update it for april security patch around this month so please be patient)

There has been nothing committed to either platform or device-specific trees to make a new build worth it. A new unofficial, and maybe an official promotion, should come in the next week or so.

thank you for the update @haggertk, it's been rock solid since i used it as my daily since february
thank you aswell for fixing bluetooth audio crashing when playback, although there are still some instances where it randomly crashes during playback(although less often than before) and sometimes the media freezes and it does not output audio anymore after it recovers

here is the line in the logcat where it just keeps looping:

this has been an issue since the march update and at least it wasn't as intrusive anymore. hope that this issue will be resolved

Dumb question: In the Lineage recovery, I don't see how to make backups. What's the best way to back up this Lineage ROM?

I've been using this ROM for about a day and all seems to work except for plugging in headphones with the AudioFX on, no matter what Lineageos ROM I try AudioFX enabled makes audio distorted and essentially unplayable. I'm guessing this is just a bug or glitch that'll never be fixed? :(

Note 3 LTE Official LineageOS 18.1 Available Soon

Good news as you can see in the LineageOS build target list and in the LineageOS Wiki - Devices, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE family got promoted to official LineageOS 18.1:

Galaxy Note 3 LTE (N9005/P) - hlte - 18.1 build & Lineage recovery available

Galaxy Note 3 LTE (N9008V) - hltechn - should be available on 26-04-2021.

Galaxy Note 3 LTE (N900K/L/S) - hltekor - 18.1 build & Lineage recovery available

Galaxy Note 3 LTE (N900T/V/W8) - hltetmo - 18.1 build & Lineage recovery available

Note that it may take up to 1 week for the LineageOS 18.1 installation package & Lineage recovery downloads to become available for those devices if all goes well with the Lineage automated builder.

Builds are on a weekly schedule so date of the last official 17.1 + 7 days should be 18.1 if all goes well with the Lineage automated builder.

But some times some builds for some devices fail like here for example: https://buildkite.com/lineageos/android-nightly/builds/566
***
If someone has python2 (yes, python2), they can figure out when any device will be built as-such (replacing hlte with whatever codename):
$ python2
>>> import random
>>> random.Random("hlte").randint(1,7)
6

A response of 1 means builds kicked-off Monday UTC, 7 means Sunday UTC.

FYI: I created a new thread for the OFFICIAL version.

Folks,

when I created a thread to discuss issues with the OFFICIAL LOS 17.1 in "Galaxy Note 3 Android Development" it was pushed out to "Galaxy Note 3 General" by a mod, saying that this group is for dev, only. Fine with that!

However as @haggertk never created a thread for the OFFICIAL version and because of the lack of an appropriate thread (and people's laziness and ignorance) we ended up in the thread were they mixed question, concerns, issues about both the OFFICIAL and UNOFFICIAL builds..

So what's wrong if I want to discuss issues about OFFICIAL 18.1 in my own thread - which got deleted now? Thus should we again get into the mess that we have a thread for the UNOFFICIAL version only, where you 'never' know about which version the people are talking about!?!

    LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps) . LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

    Device source code:
    Kernel source code:
    My picks:

    Build Compatibility:
    The noted models are the only ones supported. If you have a model that isn't listed and ask politely then I might work to add compatibility.
    BuildModel
    hlteSM-N9005, SM-N900P
    hltechnSM-N9008V
    hltekorSM-N900K, SM-N900L, SM-N900S
    hltetmoSM-N900R4, SM-N900T, SM-N900V, SM-N900W8

    Downloads:
    Installation Instructions:
    • Download latest build
    • Boot into recovery
      • Lineage recovery images are included in the download section and that's what I support. If you feel like using TWRP and something isn't working then take it up with the TWRP maintainer
    • If not updating from one of my earlier unofficial builds, then format/system, /data, and /cache
      • For Lineage recovery:
        • Format -> Format data/factory reset (this does /data and /cache)
        • Format -> Format system partition
      • For TWRP figure it out. And no, "wipe data" isn't the same as formatting data
    • Install LineageOS zip
    • If this is your initial installation of LineageOS 18.1, then flash any addons (e.g., gapps)
    Reporting Bugs:
    • DO NOT even think about reporting bugs if you are running a custom kernel, Magisk, or Xposed
    • Grab a logcat after the problem has occurred
    • If there is a random reboot then grab /proc/last_kmsg. A logcat AFTER the reboot will be worthless
    • Note which build AND device you have
    • Read the thread, at least the last month's worth of posts. Don't report things that others already have.
    Compatibility Notes:
    • External SD cards don't support POSIX (ext*, f2fs) or NTFS filesystems anymore. It was kind of broken in 17 and we likely won't merge the changes to add it back in for 18. I'm not going to pick the open changes to re-add support because I'm not going to deal with "but it worked on haggertk's unofficial builds" bug reports after we eventually go official. If this affects you then just bite the bullet, copy any data off you really want to save, and reformat as exfat.
    Donations:
    • I absolutely don't personally accept them. If you really feel that this work deserves it, then find a local food bank or animal shelter/rescue and throw some money their way. You can also throw some the way of LineageOS, but we're actually doing pretty well right now.

    long time no updates on the topic and on the files!!

    I don't upload new builds unless they contain what I feel are arbitrarily "important enough" changes. There will be new builds in the next couple days with the March patch level.
    7
    Reserved -- just in case.

    I have just installed this android 11 on my note 3 however wifi tethering turns off as soon as you try to turn it on saying 'error'

    This will be fixed in the next build.
