Unofficial AOKP - ICS Milestone 6 20 Feb 2013

After a days of work I finally was able to get AOKP ICS working with some tweaks :)
I have made some changes to the MIlestone 6 release

AOKP

- Romcontrol has been cleanup a bit I have removed the old performance control app in favour of the newer one found in JB

- Updated some of the icons from JB (device options, rom control, performance control and themes)

- Updated nova launcher, added in CM filemanager

Personal

- Added some stuff to the kernel ( frandom module, fake vsync, rgnd) more details here

- More stuff who knows :p just look at my github can't remember now

Bugs

- Should be the same as Eppy's 2ndboot ics

- If you find any I will try fix what I can just hit me up with a logcat...... Tutorial here

Installation -

Coming from a JB rom

- First you need to either convert to ext3 through the bootmenu--->Tools--->File system or wipe all from the stock recovery

- Once you have done that install the zip as normal and flash gapps if needed.....

Everyone else

- Wipe all (data, cache and dalvik cache)
- Install rom zip and gapps if needed

Reboot and enjoy ^_^

Download from here https://github.com/Kayant/Roms/tags

Download V2

Download as zip then unzip the download look through the folders and you will find a file named aokp_mb526_unofficial_20130220.zip

Congrats you found the rom :cyclops:..... Happy flashing

Mirror - http://www.uncledan.it/android-files/AOKP/

Thanks to UncleDan as usual ;)

Credit and Thanks

Ryuinfern - for his init.d frandom script

Epsylon3 for his device tree which am using as a base and also for his work on some framework stuff and also for his work on the ics kernel

Nadlabak, Quarx and Blechdose for the kernel stuff I used

AOKP for AOKP :)

Without these Guys this will not be possible so a big THANK YOU to them again.....

Notes

- It's a hybrid build meaning use can use either 2ndinit mode = stock kernel or 2ndboot mode = custom kernel
This all thanks to Epsylon3 :)

You won't get the options like KSM etc as AOKP's settings and performance control don't include it but am looking at a way of porting it ..... look out in the future for an update ;)

- Default boot is 2ndinit and can be changed to 2ndboot which will allow BL7 green users to use the their camera again if am not mistaken

Some more details... There's no "Go To Sleep" toggle or shortcut of any kind and the "Torch" toggle needs to start the whole camera module to make the LED shine :/

A little things i notice.
_ process rom control is consuming more battery that it should be. I meant, does this process keep in memory doing who knows? May be i ignore that must b be this way.
_ aokp wallpapers don't keep centered. I think the app could be maded for other resolution.
_ navigation bar isn't working.

And one cool thing, is possible to use an image for background of notification area! :)

Hey Kayant,

Great work with the JB port. Lots of things working, but i need to say a few things

1: When using a custom theme, you have to apply system theme before rebooting. If you
boot while using a custom theme, you will have no statusbar until you apply "System" theme
and reboot.

2: Bootanimation is laggy and temporarily freezes after every cycle.

3: Camera takes a while to load. Will have a black screen or a frozen picture at first, then
resolves after a few seconds.

4: Obviously, navigation bar doesn't work.

Edit: Oh and I forgot this.

5: Screenshot doesn't work; there is no option to turn it on, and it is absent from the power menu.

hmm , for screenshot press power + volumes down button together :D

navigation bar is AOKP bug

camera is similar to CM10 ( dint found a difference ) , maybe when u tested camera , there was not enough free RAM :D

Stock clock doesn't work and neither does the installed baseband switcher. It caused a boot loop when switching to T-Mobile.

I installed V.4 switcher and it worked fine but after about a day the 3g disconnects. When I reboot to reconnect it boot loops again till I clear cache and dalvic.

Sent from my Xoom using xda premium

Edit: I disabled the boot animation and re-tried the default baseband switcher and no boot loop and so far it is keeping the connection.

oh ok I'll try that for screenshot

but no one has solved the theme problem? :D
But there is one thing; if you apply custom theme and reboot recovery to wipe cache + dalvik, then the status bar stays until
next reboot. If you don't wipe those two things, then the problem is still there

Hm. Well the bootanimation can be very laggy, might not be bootloop

Have no idea why it bootloops, but wouldn't it be easier to toggle "Airplane Mode" for connection restoring? :cyclops:

And what do you mean by "stock clock doesn't work", which one? I've tried both analog clock widgets and ended up using the digital one, they were all fine, and so was the clock in the status bar..!

Been trying to find some news on the JP AOKP, but no luck... Did find one more interesting ROM, though, some people comment it as better than AOKP - BAMF Paradigm
