truth is that the wiki never mentioned to flash the recovery from the official download page.
it just mentions to flash vendor_boot.img from
Code:
https://mirror.math.princeton.edu/pub/lineageos/full/

for the next releases we shouldn't be able to even download recovery from official page, so that solves it i guess
The recovery that came alongside with official build did not load at all at which point I downloaded the one from the experimental folder flashed it and then was able to successfully flash the official update on my phone. I believe that they will somehow incorporate the recovery to be flashed with the software itself through updater

I flashed the official build's vendor_boot.img and had no trouble booting into recovery.

I am getting stuck on sideloading the ROM where the screen says, "serving: 'lineage-20.0-20230218-nightly-cheetah-signed.zip' (~7%)".. On the P7P it's stuck on verifying update package... not sure what to do... I have 33.0.3 platform tools... on feb stock update... maybe use different usb port? different computer?

Update: got it to work. Awesome

so the official LOS 20 download page doesn't link to a custom recovery for us to download. but the wiki install instructions still mention flashing the LOS recovery file first

do we need to wait until next week to get an LOS recovery download link or something? or have the official wiki install instructions just not been updated/written properly?

edit: or do I need to get the recovery file from here?

I flashed from the link you provided the vendor image and recovery worked fine for me. Just follow the wiki steps and you should be able to install.

hi, i have a problem with the default messaging app: i cannot receive/write sms. if i use the shortcut from the contact/dialer app (a toast is shown with "could not start conversation"). if i use signal as sms app, all is working fine. any ideas?

edit: could be storage related? i also get an error when trying to export my sms from signal to default app.

edit2: also google messages app is not working

SOLVED: Has anyone gotten Google Assistant to work?

I'm an idiot and didn't read that it needs to be set as default. Lineage OS turns off all defaults.

No issues at all with the vendor recovery file here on the official nightly. And the sideload of the rom zip then flashed flawlessly through it.

Yep, all works well. My issues was cables with a bad abd setup. All good now. Gcam is a little buggy, but I think it's much snappier and faster than stock currently. I wonder if that stays true after a while of running the ROM. Excited to see future updates.

fyi: wiping data for Phone and Messaging Storage 13 with titanium backup solved the issue for me

İnstalled LOS 20 on my P7 and.... İ miss Cyanogen times🥶
Actually nowadays every custom rom has few differences. Theyre almost similar with similar functions...

Cyanogen, PA and others in past were game changer by providing different extra features and i was sitting and looking which suits more for me)

Today its better to stay on stock with root and magisk with modules)

strongly disagree, but to each their own preferences.

i love this rom (allowing me to use microG) and i don't miss anything about cyanogen and paranoid, back in the old days.

i just wish we had a proper recovery (like TWRP) in oder to properly backup data partition

Used the official for 2-3 days and it was decent but I've flashed back to February stock.

As I've said previously, the likes of Cyanogenmod made sense over bloaty s**t like Touchwiz a decade back, and flashing it was one of the first things I always did. But with Pixel stock being so close to vanilla Android in the first place, I can't really see what custom roms offer any more to make the stability of stock worth losing. But each to their own, and I can easily imagine it appealing to some still who like to tinker.

Rooted stock is the ideal choice for me.

tried it once more installing everything fresh. I purchased a factory unlocked Pixel 7 Pro directly from Google.com. I used OEM to unlock the bootloader. Att is my carrier, and I use a physical SIM. Thus, it is effective this time. Maybe the reason the first time didn't work was because I neglected to factory reset.

I installed magisk to inactive slot
    I updated via updater,
Rebooted and booted up fine with root and all
    Rebooted once more and bootlooped

What did I do wrong? Any advice?
hello, you should install magisk to inactive slot after the updater has done installing the update; i.e. it promps you to reboot, but just wait. install magisk to inactive slot and then reboot from updater notification.

i keep doing this monthly, everything works fine.

Is there the minimal Pico gapps available for the latest release? Unless I'm mistaken the link in the op has older ones?
    OP has Official MindTheGApps: MindTheGapps-13.0.0-arm64-20230408_162909.zip

I find the updating via the built-in updater is slow as molasses. I usually just switch slots via fastboot then manually update via ADB sideload. So much quicker 👍.

    it's on purpose.
by being slow, the process won't drain battery fast and most importantly won't produce so much heath, keeping the battery fresh and healthy (in the long term).

there's an option to prioritize the update process, i never tried it though so i don't know how much faster it will be.

but i agree with you, if i were to go for speed i would surely update via recovery.

Ah just a presumption! I believe that the flags get reset upon flashing firmware and so if I'm not mistaken, I need to come from stock, flash lineage, not reboot and then manually disable. Do you know if that's correct?

LineageOS 20.0 for the Pixel 7 Pro (cheetah) and Pixel 7 (panther).

    Known issues:
    • NOTE: This is an early-stage build, and may not be the most stable. It works fine for me as a daily driver on a Pixel 7 (panther), however.
    • The status bar is mis-aligned to the left by a few pixels, but this does not cause any usability issues, fortunately.
    • Dual eSIM doesn't work (yet), but stock is probably affected too until the feature drop
    • You tell me.
    Install Instructions:

    1. Be sure you're on the latest stock 13 build and have an unlocked bootloader. You may also be able to flash from GrapheneOS, CalyxOS, or another ROM.
    2. Go into fastboot mode (turn off phone and then Power + Volume down)
    3. Make sure you have the adb/fastboot tools
    4. Run fastboot flash --slot all boot boot.img
    5. Run fastboot flash --slot all init_boot init_boot.img
    6. Run fastboot flash --slot all vendor_boot vendor_boot.img
    7. Run fastboot flash --slot all vendor_kernel_boot vendor_kernel_boot.img
    8. Boot into recovery
    9. Press Factory Reset and confirm
    10. Go to Apply Update -> Apply from ADB
    11. Run adb sideload LOS_BUILD (Replace LOS_BUILD with your LOS ZIP file)
    12. To add GApps, go to Advanced -> Reboot to Recovery -> Apply Update -> Apply from ADB
    13. Run adb sideload GAPPS_BUILD (Replace GAPPS_BUILD with your GApps ZIP file, repeat this step if you want Magisk)
    14. Press Reboot System Now

    Update Instructions:

    1. Download the latest ZIP
    2. Reboot to recovery
    3. Flash the latest ZIP
    4. Reboot to recovery
    5. If you previously installed it, flash GApps and Magisk
    6. Reboot to system

    Passing SafetyNet/Play Integrity:

For some reason, this ROM only needs the Displax SafetyNet Fix and Shamiko (or DenyList) on top of Magisk in order to pass SafetyNet/Play Integrity, which is a nice bonus. As of 11/17, I was able to use GPay with this ROM if you use Magisk, Shamiko, and Displax SafetyNet Fix.

    Pixel 7 (panther)

UPDATE: LineageOS has "experimental" builds for Pixel 7 (and 6) here. They aren't technically mine, but I'm also the reason Google Tensor GKI kernels build there 😁. Fortunately GPay still works with the experimental builds.

bu.. bu. but the pixel firmware is already perfect 🥺🥺
I still maintain this build for the fun of it, and for anyone who wants it. I use it mainly since the Pixel stock ROM is a bit bloated for me.

Yes, the Pixel stock ROM is still excellent, even better than many other custom ROMs IMHO, and definitely when compared to something "stock" like OnePlus OxygenOS <=11 (yes, even pre-ColorOS OOS was trash IMHO) or Motorola's stock ROM.

I did run Pixel 3/6/7 with both stock and custom ROMs but only ran OP/Moto devices with custom ROMs.

And even if LOS isn't needed on a Pixel 6/7 now, it will be 3 years down the line when you only get security updates, and especially 5 years post-release when Google stops updating.

I don't need LOS on a Pixel the way I need it on a OnePlus (or a Motorola), but it's still nice to have just in case.

Sorry for the delay, I was really busy the past three months or so. I plan to release new builds of P7 LOS later today.

EDIT: There are experimental LOS builds here: https://ftp.acc.umu.se/mirror/lineageos/exp/

I'm using those above builds now.

    ChangeLog:

    2022/11/26:
    • Updated build to 2022/11/27 (arrgh, UTC/PST differences)

    2022/11/16:
    • Initial build for cheetah/panther.
    • Is stable (for me at least) on a Pixel 7, your experience may vary however
