On the other hand, you have been able to enjoy RR on SM-G901F for a long time due to cvxda's efford, and to turn your sadness into something positive:... you could do the same as cvxda, turn to Lineage as she did and enjoy your G901F for much more longer!
I bet you will feel happy to have a fast daily driver pure plain Lineage OS with almost daily updates within a week :good:
Let's cheer to cvxda for all her good work here, and continuing her great work on LineageOS hopefully for a longgggg time .

To be honest I haven't touched anything else than 14.1 and RR 5.8.5 yet as many people in the official G901F thread reported problems with the SIM card. I want to use my S5 Plus as a daily driver and I wouldn't want to reboot it all the time just to get a working SIM card.
Anyway I'll try the latest build of cvxda in the next days and see how it goes... Atm the biggest problem for me with the S5 Plus is that I can't get voLTE working and it seems like that there is no active community for the S5 Plus (anymore) so no one is responding in the official thread, not even the dev himself.

Anyway I'm happy that someone is still maintaning the S5 Plus and providing fresh builds and I can't wait to test Pie on this device but if there are major problems with the SIM card I'll have to stick to 14.1 or RR 5.8.5.

I'd give a try to LOS, as suggested by cvxda, but it feels like it's time to move on.

I can't get my S5+ properly working and I don't have knowledge to debug it.
The "locked blue screen" bug has came back. There are random reboots (soft and hard) happening several times a week. After less than 2 months after a complete reinstallation, it is again very laggy and shows huge battery drain when awake (~1%/min) while still having good battery life when sleeping.

I have no troubles at all in original LOS which us maintained by cvxda also, she explained here having no time spare left, so that's why no answers about voLTE. I have no interest in that subject, its not a part of Lineage as far as I know, so understandable you don't hear from her about that.
Simcardtroubles are unknown for me on LOS kccat6

regarding entry post from vcxda - bootloader version

Hello,
in the entry post of this thread - "how to install" - it is mentioned:
"For kccat6, use bootloader CQJ1 or CQJ2."
Post last updated 2020-02-11.
Is it critical to use a newer bootloader and modem like from the latest stock "G901FXXU1CRH1_G901FDBT1CRH1_G901FXXU1CRK1_HOME.tar" (DBT Germany)?
Could this lead to issues ?
I've later flashed the bootloader and modem separately with odin to have the newest ones, especially the modem part.
As I don't understand very much from building / porting from a stock ROM, this question is important for me and perhaps many others.
It could be, that a distinct basic version of the stock ROM is the overall starting point of a port onto a custom ROM like LOS.
So now using another bootloader and modem version, which - as I think - is not touched with the installing of LOS, could be risky?
I'd be very thankfull, if you could answer / explain this question.

Just use cqj1 or cqj2 or later version and you'll be all right. BTW you noticed this ROM is no longer maintained?

new / other bootloader ?

I made new Resurrection Remix 6.2.1 builds available for kccat and lentislte.

Changes from 20181017:
  • Update to Android security level 2018-10-05.
  • Update kernel to Samsung CRH1.
  • Update to Resurrection Remix 6.2.1.
  • Various more kernel patches, mostly security-related.
  • A tweak to improve performance when starting new apps.
Have fun,
Corinna

Hi,
"kernel update to CRH1",
perhaps stupid newbie question:
does that mean, I have to use bootloader CRH1 ?
In the initial post "how to install" is mentioned:
"For kccat6, use bootloader CQJ1 or CQJ2."
Or is it as mentioned otherwise, that one should always use the newest available bootloader and modem versions
officially supported for this model?
I've flashed bootloader and modem later separately from this stock version: "G901FXXU1CRH1_G901FDBT1CRH1_G901FXXU1CRK1_HOME.tar" .
Could that cause problems?

I made new Resurrection Remix 6.0.0 preview builds available for kccat and lentislte.

This is still Work In Progress.
Only use as daily driver if the functionality is ok for you.

Basically, everything should work now, bugs not withstanding.

    Important Notes:
    • Audio: the missing headphone jack problem should be fixed.
    • Camera: I switched back to Camera2 since Snap is just buggy. There's a good chance that Lineage will provide OpenCamera at one point, but this may be a long time off yet .
    • Make sure to perform a factory reset if you already installed the previous Oreo preview build. Otherwise you may end up with a broken Camera.
    • The support for hardware buttons is still missing from RR 6.0.0.

That's it for now. I'll be very busy with non-Android stuff the next few weeks so it may be a while until I can come back. Nevertheless...

    Have fun,
    Corinna

    Resurrection Remix 5.8.4 20170817

New release for kccat6 and lentislte uploaded.

    News:
    • Update to Resurrection Remix 5.8.4.
    • Update to Android patchlevel 2017-08-05.
    • Behaviour of hardware key backlight changed (not the final version, though, some patches still under review)
    • Magisk is still on version 12.0 for obvious reasons.

    Have fun,
    Corinna
