Just a short update.

This ROM works super. No issues left at all!

But for me it was necessary to follow all detailed instructions for 100%.
Nevertheless it was also necessary to install Magisk with module "universal safety net fix" (It solved some problems for me with - amongst others- constant reboots).

I hope herewith to help newbees saving a lot of time.

Yes that's correct - I still don't have any ability to download applications.
That's really weird. It should / must work if data is formatted properly. Maybe you've got a really messed up partition table. So in my opinion, the best would be to go back to stock rom and start the installation of the custom rom from scratch.

You can read how to do it in the great ⚡S4 Unified Collection & Guides⚡ from @Retrial.

These tutorials are for Galaxy S4 (so you need other files to flash), but flashing process is exactly the same. And they contain tips for troubleshooting.

I had that happen to mine, can't remember if it was the LOS or ColtOS (was trying both to see which had better battery life). Restarting the tablet let me install apps again. No idea what was up.

Though I am not only satisfied but greatly impressed with this ROM (as noted in previous post here), there is a glitch which I have not yet been able to fix. When booted to desktop, the ROM shows a fixed date and a fixed time; presumably (I would have to check) the date & time of first installation. Switching to "auto-retrieve date/time from network" restores the correct data/time, however this correction lasts only as long as the tablet stays connected to the internet per WiFi. Once off WiFi, the wrong (fixed) data/time returns. Pairing the tablet with the phone (which unlike the tablet has a 4G connection) does not solve the issue. Apparently a tethered internet connection is not recognized as a valid network connection for the purposes of synchronizing with a NTP server. (I should add that I am not using a gps.conf customized for my country.)

You may think that this is a negligible issue, however it turns out that it is not: since the tablet cannot establish the correct time it cannot administer its battery consumption either, with the result that it shuts down much earlier than it should. This clearly impacts its performance as an on-the-road reader of pdfs/epubs, especially as we all know that this good but old tablet has an insoluble issue with battery time.

(I should add that I never ever had this problem when using N-ROMs, specifically Lineage-14.1 and Resurrection Remix-N.)

I think it's build date and time.

I have the same problem. As I found out through a little research, this was a (general) Lineageos bug in October last year. And while I'm writing about october, the build date was May 2022, but the Android security update is from October 2021.
@otyg do you think you have time to update? That should solve both problems.

Many thanks @pocketrule for your diligence. And for revealing this bug. It goes without saying that it must be fixed ASAP. (It is curious that it has stayed concealed for so long a time.)

Supposed our ROM builder lacks the time to update this ColtOS ROM to a bug-free version of LineageOs-18.1. Speaking for myself, I think I should ditch it in favor of the most recent vanilla LineageOS-18.1 build for our tablet --- all advantages of ColtOS over vanilla LineageOS notwithstanding.

AFAIK the latest vanilla LineageOS-18.1 build for mondrianwifi is https://nyyu.dev/lineage/18.1/mondrianwifi/lineage-18.1-20220516-UNOFFICIAL-mondrianwifi.zip.
What say you? Bug free? Safe to try?

There have been reports about installation problems and how they could been solved. I'd propose you start reading the posts in this thread beginning with may 2022.

Edit: With splash screen you mean, you can't get into TWRP? In this case I'd flash TWRP again (verified download, i.e. compare checksum) with odin. If that doesn't help you could go back to stock rom and start flashing TWRP again.

Hm, the problem is on trwp splash screen, i’ve flashed a lot of trwp previous version and didn’t work…:(
But you gave a good ideia…flashing the stock rom via Odin might work!! I’ll give a try..
Thank you for your time, buddy ;)

I am getting the next update ready (probably sometime in july 5~10) , let me know if you have any suggestions to improve this rom.

    Upcoming fixes
    1. wireless display audio issue is completely fixed. (tablet will be muted, sound will output on tv only)
    2. minimized debug info and include the art release runtime.
    3. rom is official .
    4. OTA updates, however it would seem our official twrp doesn't support OTA, it just reboots to recovery and doesn't install the zip .....
Note: I can include OTA support but when it reboots to recovery you would have to manually select the update from /data/colt_updates/ and install it... this is a TWRP bug not my fault.

What do you think about OTA,? also I am looking for feedback on the microphone changes, did it fix the issues / make it worse or improve at all?

New build up, lots of fixes.
    ColtOS-v6.1-mondrianwifi-20200616-Unofficial.zip
    MD5: b4c2b5fa4bb31977b127dca20c02254c

    Device Tree Fix-ups
Miracast is partially fixed, I am still trying to fix the audio issue, but for now it can cast to tv, if you need to mute the audio I suggest plugging in headphones turning volume up then connect to a miracast device and audio should be output on tv where you can adjust volume levels.
Microphone(s) should be improved, let me know if they are too loud or still not working properly .
Smart Charging is partially working but I only included this as a test, it will turn off charger at full trigger level (this prevents battery from constantly trickle charging or if the battery has problems reaching 100 we can stop it at 80% for example, the main issue is when the battery depletes past the preset low trigger it's supposed to charge back to the full trigger for proper behavior, our device is broken in this respect, so I disabled the low trigger in this build, so just be aware once the charging is stopped it will run on battery until the device shutdowns / reboots or is re-plugged in...(*only if smart charging is enabled)
AOD - Fixed, I set it to the lowest brightness. (this device has a power hungry LCD), Supported modes: Always On, Charging Only & New Notifications).
Fixed button mapping, it was showing a non existent 'menu' key, now it has been properly mapped to the recent/overview key.
Fixed notification permission access, "this feature is not available on this device ",
Fixed draw over other apps permission.
    Fixed other permission popup dialogs.
Fixed Split-Screen Note: (you need to map the split-screen action to a button first, this can be done under "Settings -> ColtEnigma -> Buttons -> Buttons -> (select a button's long press or double tap action), Custom Action -> Split-Screen."), or under the recent switcher press the middle app icon and select 'Split-Screen'.
Removed Notification LED settings since our device doesn't have a notification LED.
Many more fixes, it should be a lot more smooth and responsive now.

Clean flash is recommended but you can try dirty.

    Edit:
I fixed the Wireless Display Audio issue
