• If you are experiencing issues logging in, we moved to a new and more secure software and older account passwords were not able to be migrated. We recommend trying to reset your password, then contacting us if there are issues.
  • Nearly done! Migration cleanup is mostly done. There are a small number of issues left that we continue to work on, but all the heavy lifting is done. We still would love to hear feedback over at this thread and also check out the new XDA app! Thanks and we hope you enjoy the new forums, and thanks for your support of XDA <3

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9 (Pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

What doesn't work :

Instructions :
  • Download the latest build and gapps
  • Reboot to recovery
  • Flash the latest build and gapps
  • Reboot

Reporting Bugs
  • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
  • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
  • If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
  • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log

Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

I would love to flash this build, even though camera and FP are not working, but one short question: If I want to revert back to, say, renovate ice, do i have to be aware of something? Do I have to flash something like Bootloader or something to make the Official-Based Roms work again?
Again, thank you for all this time you invested!

Nice to see AOSP development going forward now after a long time being burried deep inside

Would you guys allow me to contribute to the project? I have the S8+ btw (although I'm going to be busy later, still I'd love to get into AOSP projects)

I would like to mention that neither stricted or I have the device which makes development a bit harder since we are working blind here any donations are appreciated and will help in firther development
Thank you Ivan and Stricted for this. I was losing hope that S8 will ever get LineageOS support.

Where I can find donation link?

What is your--
LineageOS version: 15.1-20190213
LineageOS Download url: From this thread
Gapps version: None

Did you--
wipe: Yes
restore with titanium backup: No
reboot after having the issue: Yes

Are you using--
a task killer: No
a non-stock kernel: No
other modifications: No

Provide any additional information (observations/frequency of problem/last version it worked on/etc) as needed:

-GPS: I used the app "GPS Test" to test: The app can recognize whether GPS is on or off but no satellites (and hence no position is found)
-Bluetooth: Pairing works after a few tries but sound stutters (No stuttering when listening to the same song without BT.
-3D Button (or whatever it is called): Recognized (phone vibrates), but no effect otherwise.
-su: I flashed the SU-addon but no additional app appeared and the app I use for logcats (catlog) couldn't get root access to get a logcat
-ADB: "adb devices" recognizes that there is a device but it lists it as "offline". I couldn't get a logcat that way either. (ADB is activated in the dev options.

Thank you very much for your work, it's so so smooth! Let me know if you need testers.

Nice to finally hear some news about LOS for our device!!!

Please, could you share links to the device (and common) tree and dependencies? At least we could work on them for future android versions :)
