1. Installation.
2. Update to newer vendor firmware version.
3. Update to a newer build of the same android version.
4. Upgrade to a higher version of OS.

Updating (manually for now)

1. Reboot to recovery.
2. Apply update -> Apply from ADB.
3. Connect the device.
4. On a terminal, run “adb sideload lineage-20.0-…..zip”
5. Reboot system now.

If you use Magisk then do this after the reboot.

1. Reboot into recovery.
2. Apply update -> Apply from ADB.
3. Connect the device.
4. On a terminal, run "adb sideload Magisk-....zip"
5. Reboot system now.
6. Open Magisk.
7. Accept the prompt to update.
8. Choose the direct installation method.
9. Reboot.

I'm currently on the Official ROM but there hasn't been an update posted since April. Is there an easy way to switch to this Unofficial?

I'm guessing you'll have to backup what you want and do a clean install

If you are referring to the official Lineage for MicroG, flash over it.
If you are referring to the official Lineage OS, flash over it and see if it is stable enough for you, and if it isn't, clean wipe.
In both cases, use the adb sideload command in lineage recovery.

FYI – Never flash older versions of the firmware (ROM); wait for something newer.
