Would you guys say this is daily driver ready at this point or should I hold out on lineage 16 for a while longer?

Also at least on 16 I've had the best camera results from just the Google camera installed from the play store which seems to be 5.1.018
Standards vary, of course. I've been using it as my daily driver since 12/1, and I'm satisfied, though I wouldn't install it on my wife's primary phone, since she has lower tolerance for bugs.

I've had a few freezes (<1 a day) when waking/unlocking with the fingerprint scanner. Initially I had trouble with the Google Camera when I used OpenGApps Pico, but haven't had any problems since I switched to BitGApps. Visual Voicemail still doesn't work for me, but no signal problems I've noticed (on T-Mobile).

I was coming from LOS 15.1, which was very stable for me. This is slightly less stable, but it's a worthwhile compromise for me, considering the newer code base.

Trying this out. It's not bad for being early. I had to disable Google's Digital Wellbeing because it kept crashing in the background non-stop, but that could be caused by the gapps I flashed, using opengapps nano. It looks like selinux is disabled. Is there a way to enable that? Also I can't get the file encryption to work... Oh yeah I'm using the blod boot and recovery if that matters.

Install of the new version went smoothly. I'm still not getting working Visual Voicemail, but no new issues stand out at this point.

Thanks so much for the update, @PixelBoot.

I'm using BitGApps.

a long report, a happy user

A long report follows, I'm generally just documenting how everything went in case it will become useful to others down the track.

The upshot is that I'm very happy with LOS17, aside from:
  • random freezing/crashing at the unlock screen after entering a swipe pattern, requiring a restart (this problem might have disappeared)
  • not being able to confidently use any GCam mod (black screens, crashes)
Otherwise the whole experience has been smooth and 'as expected'.

I jumping from LOS15.1, and have had no contact with 16.0

I used fastboot to install the provided TWRP, then adb sideload to TWRP to install the zips*, and all went fine (from a linux terminal).
Installed:
  • lineage-17.0-20191129-UNOFFICIAL-angler
  • open_gapps-arm64-10.0-pico-20191114-BETA
  • Magisk 20.1
I discovered along the way that when sideloading from adb to TWRP, it is better to trust the output on the device regarding the installation process and success/failure. While sideloading opengapps and magisk the terminal reported that the adb process had not received a success signal, and stopped at a percentage less than 100. This can be ignored if the progress text in TWRP indicates success. It appears to be something to do with adb miscalculating the progress percentage.

I had some camera misadventures:
The stock camera was working fine -- but since i had success by trialling every apk on celzo's site until something suited my needs, back when I was using LOS 15.1, I jumped stupidly into the same strategy with 17.0 -- which didnt work out very well.
All the 7.x versions at that site deemed "recommended for android 10" did not work. Generally I got black screens; sometimes just an instant crash. ive tried a bunch of others from the 6.2x and 6.1x varieties with same result (I can list them if someone needs to know which ones don't work).
I had carelessly installed and removed so many of them, that along the way something wrecked the stock camera, and it developed the same problem - black screen, crash after a few seconds. eventually it was simply not starting.

A remedy was to install MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2e-fu24_02c.apk at the recommendation of @hk1271 (which I hadn't seen mentioned in the thread until i came back looking for answers ;) )
the stock camera worked again, and I left it like that, reluctant to actually open the GCam.

Freezing/crashing after entering the swipe pattern:
Sometimes during normal operation, and a couple of times after a reboot, entering my swipe pattern would stop the system (I use a swipe pattern and a fingerprint). All i see is my background picture and a back button, so each time was forced to restart. This might have been about once a day, but the time of day was random.

tiny non-issues:
  • I miss the ability to specify the dimensions of the icon grids (main screen and app drawer)
  • I miss the ability to choose no background picture (and just have black)
I imagine these features were actually part of some particular window manager / launcher thingie that came standard in LOS15.1?

At yesterday's release of lineage-17.0-20191220-UNOFFICIAL-angler:

I downloaded the rom to the phone and flashed via TWRP, but it wouldn't boot. I got the lineage animation for a few minutes and then a restart to TWRP. Tried the same again with same result. I didn't try the same thing thrice. This was no bother since I was set to cleanly reinstall everything anyway, in efforts to alleviate the camera and swipe pattern issues.
In TWRP I did a bog standard swipe-to-reset without changing any settings (didn't format the data partition or erase internal storage), and then an adb sideload from linux along with:
  • open_gapps-arm64-10.0-nano-20191209-BETA
  • magisk 20.1
Upon restarting, the system booted once to a quick glimpse of the 'android' splash screen logo, before rebooting again to the lineage animation, and all went well.

  • I went with the nano install of gapps this time on a whim, just to see what was different. As reported elsewhere, digital wellbeing crashes persistently until switched off.
  • I'm reluctant to install any GCam mods for the moment, I'll be interested to hear others' experiences on this front.
  • I haven't yet had the lockscreen swipe pattern crashing issue.
Thank you @PixelBoot for extending the utility of my 6P.

I had the same camera issue with Open GApps pico, but it went away when I switched to BitGApps. I'm now using the Camera NX GCam port, and it's been very stable.

After a reboot, before unlocking the phone, I'm consistently getting the wrong date on the lockscreen. After unlocking the phone, the date corrects.
I have the exact same issue with the PixelExperience rom, one of the reasons why I wanted to change to this rom. Sad to see it still occurring here.

Good to know, thanks. Which NX version would you be using -- the 7.4 ZSL enhanced version from chromloop?
I'll certainly be trying bitgapps next time.

That's right. The "background processing" notification doesn't go away, so I turned it off, but otherwise it's good.

Guys any new build?? Want some more additional features for LOS 17, it's seems so stable, why it's not official @PixelBoot #thanks
There are no official 17 builds yet.

I am pretty sure it has all the standard lineage os features already. However, If you want more fork the code and add them.
