If you want to change launchers safely then use QuickSwitch. But you'll need Magisk installed for that. I use Lawnchair over the Pixel Launcher, so I change the default launcher in Quickswitch to that. I guess I'll use ADB to remove the unwanted Google apps. Does this new rom get OTA updates?
Thanks for the QuickSwitch tip
Nolen says he does new builds once a month or so. So you can expect updates.

I have also tried it on 2 other PC with win 10, but HTC drivers were not installed by the OS what is on that PC ??
Now install VMWare with Windows 7 and hopefully it will work.

YESSSS it have succeeded, through VMware and a lot of trying for various TWRP was TWRP 3.3.1.0 the one and install Resurrection Remix. M8 is back on track.
Now going te test for for the lastest TWRP and diferents ROM.

Thanks you al for give me feedback. :)
old post, I realize, but just chiming in to say the later TWRP versions definitely have issues with the M8.

3.3.1-0 worked perfectly for me too, after not being able to boot to recovery at all on the newer ones.

Not sure why people are having issues with TWRP. Maybe the next release will work better, I dunno. All of them work fine for me. Be nice if people posted in the TWRP thread about it, with logs...

From what I've read, GPay is a non-starter. Is that still true? Was that true on every build based on Nougat onward?

I've an AT&T M8 that I'd love to bump up to at least Nougat to run some retailer apps that won't run, even sideloaded as older versions, on less than Nougat. I'd try later ROM builds as well, but those apps or not, I don't want to sacrifice NFC payment options still available on stock Marshmallow. The phone is limited to near-uselessness for me, but at least I can use GPay, and that's useful, so if there's a build that won't lose me GPay, I'm up for it if I can run Dunkin, etc.

Any hope?

Nope, GPay will never work on LOS. You'll have to stay on stock Marshmallow if you need to use GPay.

Hi there everyone!
Even since it seems like new builds are coming anyways, i have done a new build myself:
It's completely based on bgcngm's work and the key differences are:

-Enabled ZRAM at bootup for better performance (thanks to mighty from xda discord)
-Made KSM avaiable (can be optionally turned on via kernel tweaker)
-Using AICP's kernel mainly maintained by Claymore1297 (basically the same as the lineage-kernel but wanted to try it out anyways)
-Latest security patch and lineage sources
-All credits go to everyone envolved in m8 development, i just added those extras and built from source.

Download here
If the afh mirror doesn´t work, here is an alternative mirror.
@bgcngm idk maybe it's better to revert your commit aswell as it really helps a lot with the memory situation :)
Had troubles enabling zram manually using Ex Kernel Manager so i think this would be the best solution, especially when using gapps aswell.

Have a nice day ;)

@bgcngm Is there any chance that we will get official 18.1 build soon?
Not sure about official, but I will soon release a new test build. I will decide based on the feedback.

    Hey guys!
    Good news!

Since there were no updates to this rom in a very long time, i decided to build myself using the lineage repos
    You can get it here:

I just booted it up, didn't test much yet but should have the same bugs/features as listed in post #1
    -Latest Lineage source
    -Latest security patch
    -18.0 -> 18.1
Only single sim atm, but if people are interested in dual sim, i may build for this one aswell

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11 (R), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

    @bgcngm do you abandon M8?
If yes then I have to go back LOS 17.1. with 18 not even QR code scanning working.
No, I have just been busy with real life stuff.

I'd definitely go for it. My M8 is up and running and carries a new M9 battery :)
