Hello, I noticed the following bugs for the current ROM (WIFI):
- There is no NFC option (known that there are general NFC problems)
- Battery needs 5-6 hours to charge
- Netflix not installable via PlayStore
- Double tap for sleep works, but not to wake from sleep, even though the option is set
- The camera button is halfway off the screen

Of course it's not a tablet from 2022, it runs "relaxed" smoothly, but it doesn't hang :) Still, I'm excited about the ROM. Excellent work! I hope it will be supported with new updates in the future.

Question: Does it make sense to overclock the CPU for this tablet?

Hello,

Thanks a lot for this ROM.
It runs smoothly for an android 11 and solved all the problems i had with my previous ROM

I had trouble to root it since Magisk v22.1 mod sony was not working at all.
finally, i managed to root by doing this steps
- I extracted the boot.img of the zip of lineage 18.1 and copied it on the tablet
- I downloaded and installed the last magisk 24.1
- I created a patched boot.img with Magisk on the tablet
- I installed this patched boot.img with TWRP
hope this can help

Found the same issues, but all in all it is brilliant how this tablet works with this ROM. Fluid, a lot better than I expected. I just resurrected mine (broken screen and dead battery) and the performance was a nice surprise.
As for your question - I'd say no. You'll risk overheating very quickly, and then it starts shutting down CPU functions to cool down.

Hello All
I just made a fresh install of this rom. Many thanks for your works, my tablet did a jump from android 6.0.1 to 11. For the moment, I've just 1 issu, with Brave browser, I can't launch it.
I did his installation from an apk downloaded from uptodown, it worked well. After the installation of uptodown store apk and the update of Brave, now, it's impossible to launch it. So I removed and reinstalled Brave several times without success.
Gapps are not installed on my tablet (I won't use google apps on it, are they necessary?)
Is there an issu with uptodown store app and brave or is there something else I didn't see or configurated?
Thank for your help.

Thanks for providing a new OS option for such an old device. I have a question regarding "hey google" operation, it's not available for some reason. Since I'd like to use this as an assistant to a disabled person, it is an invaluable function. I tried some troubleshooting to no avail. Is something missing in the OS itself to support such feature? if so, is possible to fix it somehow?

Hi @tanis73 ,
I have no idea if you managed to fix this, but I have Brave working on mine - however, I install gapps and got brave from the play store.

Hi,
since i slowly encounter trouble using the stock rom i wanted to upgrade to Lineagos and found this guide.

But now im stuck...

everything worked fine i generated the code from Sony and unlocked the Bootloader, then i downloaded the castor_ windy recovery img and it was transfered.

but now i cant get into the recovery mode. No matter what i try ( Power button and Vol- /Vol+); fastboot reboot recovery or any other combination of keys while starting the Tab i just looks like there is no recovery installed.
(it just starts the reseted stock rom )

But whenever i try to flash the recovery image it just finishes without any Problems.

any suggestions whats the Problem here?

Thank you for any reply :)

Have a great Monday.
I had same issues :) but the solution was to flash TWRP using fastboot and flash it in boot (not in recovery as its said) . this worked for me after so many futile attempts , good luck,
Although what i can not make work is the new 18.1 can not install using TWRP 3.2.1castor

For me , the new TWPR 3.4 doesnt work / boot

Hi @qsnc
I'm having some trouble installing this ROM

The weird song and dance I did so far
- Installed latest 6.0.1 via XPeriFirm
- Installed TWRP 3.2.1
- Tried to install LOS 18.1, it wasnt recognizing my device as castor_windy (it was saying device type is blank)
- Extracted the LOS zip, removed the device check from the updater-script file
- LOS installed, can see lineage boot animation, stays for like 3 mins before failing to boot, returns to TWRP

Managed to install TWRP 3.4.0
- Device now properly recognized as castor_windy in original LOS zip, no need to remove device check from updater_script
- ROM install successfully but still cant boot, stuck at boot animation then reboots to TWRP (same like TWRP 3.2.1)

Any help? Detailed instructions would be really, really appreciated. This is my first time modding a Sony device, man its really cumbersome. People giving Samsung hate but even without fastboot binaries on their devices I can easily install ROMs there vs Sony devices

    those are the two twrp recoveries I used too. i never tired to go back to an old version of the factory image, so I don't know if that changes anything.

    i flashed twrp, used the button combo to get into recovery, then flashed zip from an sd card in twrp. even if you have the wrong twrp, you should still be able to get into it, but not the rom.
    Thank you so much Rusty_Gunn! It was extremely valuable for me to get this confirmation that you're supposed to be able to get into the recovery either way, as I was getting close to giving up. Posting a writeup of my experience here, in case someone else ends up in the same situation.

    In my case, the issue I was not getting past (because I quite literally couldn't see it), was that my SGP511's display won't turn on when entering recovery. I suppose I probably entered both TWRP and Lineage Recovery lots of times without realizing it over the past few days.

    I used the recovery image twrp_3.2.1-castor_windy.img (SHA256 checksum: 2de0567f65ab3dae6256a36a4cdd57d9cd24b8d69c21fc15a5a0d1a33a3b411e) for this. Since half the download links related to this device were dead when I tried to visit them (the tablet is getting old by now), I uploaded a copy of the recovery image to the Internet Archive. Might need it myself in the future, for that matter.

    On stock 23.5.A.1.291 firmware I enabled debugging and rebooted to fastboot mode:
    $ adb reboot bootloader

    Once the device was ready, I flashed and booted the recovery:
    $ fastboot devices
    $MY_DEVICE fastboot
    $ fastboot flash recovery twrp_3.2.1-castor_windy.img
    Sending 'recovery' (13074 KB) OKAY [ 0.420s]
    Writing 'recovery' OKAY [ 0.882s]
    Finished. Total time: 1.314s
    $ fastboot boot twrp_3.2.1-castor_windy.img
    Sending 'boot.img' (13074 KB) OKAY [ 0.412s]
    Booting OKAY [ 0.054s]
    Finished. Total time: 0.487s

    I left the device for some minutes after issuing the above command. Expecting it to just be frozen, I ran the following out of curiosity:
    $ adb devices
    List of devices attached
    $MY_DEVICE recovery

    ...and to my surprise, it had actually booted into recovery, but I didn't realize this as the display wouldn't turn on.

    Thankfully TWRP exposes everything needed for installation via adb, so I went right ahead with installing the latest nightly build of LineageOS 17.1:

    $ adb shell
    ~ # twrp wipe cache
    Formatting Cache using make_ext4fs...
    Done processing script file
    ~ # twrp wipe dalvik
    Wiping Dalvik Cache Directories...
    Cleaned: /data/dalvik-cache...
    -- Dalvik Cache Directories Wipe Complete!
    Done processing script file
    ~ # twrp wipe system
    Formatting System using make_ext4fs...
    Done processing script file
    ~ # twrp wipe data
    Formatting cache using make_ext4fs...
    Wiping data without wiping /data/media ...
    Done.
    Done processing script file
    ~ # twrp sideload
    command is: 'sideload' and there is no value
    Starting ADB sideload feature...
    $ adb sideload lineage-17.1-20211006-nightly-castor_windy-signed.zip
    Total xfer: 1.00x
    $ adb shell
    ~ # twrp sideload
    $ adb sideload open_gapps-arm-10.0-pico-20211006.zip
    Total xfer: 1.22x
    $ adb reboot

    (In case it's not clear from the above output: switching from recovery to sideload mode kicks you back out from the tablet's shell.)

    This got me up and running again!
