Hey all, in case I'll compile builds here and there again, what would you prefer emoji wise?
I started switching them back on Android 11 because I were missing some of the newer ones and took the chance to use the Apple ones as I thought they look overall a bit better.

But these were just my own private builds an I'm not feeling too strong about using the Apple ones atm, so what would you prefer to have built in?
Please leave a reaction on this post, let's say:

- :ROFLMAO: for the Apple Emoji Font

The camera crashes and stops working, please help, some solution

My lights don't work, please come fix 🤠

But seriously: that's nowhere near a adequate bug report. Please, first try to narrow down when and under which circumstances the issue occurs. For the camera this e.g. means also testing maybe a few other Camera Apps as well, to make sure it's a general issue with the camera, not just with one specific camera app.

Then come here and provide information like:
- Which build you're running
- What camera App do you use
- Exact description of the issue
- Steps you take to reproduce it

For the camera: I regularly have the problem it doesn't take the picture when I press the shutter, so I have to close and reopen the camera a bunch of times, until it finally feels like taking the picture. But the preview itself and the camera overall is working fine.
This also isn't any news, but was discussed in this very thread already, so: Is your issue of "crashes and stops working" this, or is it something else?
Is it a permanent state or working fine until it sometime crashes and then stays broken until rebooted?

So, to sum it up again: Invest a little more time into own debugging/pinpointing and THEN be more specific in what you write here.

Here is the explanation of the problem, on page 1 of this forum
Ah, I see, alright 👍🏼

Hadn't on my mind that you're refering to a previous post of yours.
Looking through the posts on those 4 pages I can see the following:

- The stock camera app was discovered to have it's UI freezing often times.
- Third party camera apps where tried and found to have similar behavior
- The dev asked for a log multiple times
- It was tried if the newer device tree fixes it, but it didn't

Current state is (and hasn't changed anytime in the last weeks) that camera controls of various apps often freeze on taking a picture and you'll have to close & reopen the camera a bunch of times until it finally works.
Also, once the camera takes pictures, it does so fine multiple times for me until I close it again. I can reproduce this behavior with the stock camera app, OpenCamera and also in Signal.

That means your issue is already known with no quick fix for it in sight. But with close&reopen trial&error it's atleast possible to take pictures anyways.
The dev is currently working hard on bringing our device up to a newer kernel version. Once that's done these things can be reevaluated. Until then I'm afraid the current state is what it is and likely won't change^^

Just an FYI, third party camera apps work for taking pictures. Jitsi Meet and other 3rd party messaging apps work for video calls.

Will this fix the camera issue? Also the folder says "MicroG Ready". Not sure what that means as far as if that changes anything with the current OS. Thank you

I would have mentioned if there would be any chance the camera behavior changed, sorry.
It's just what the update notice said: the upstream LineageOS changes including the February Security Patch Level.

As for being MicroG ready: I mentioned that when I linked to the first build I uploaded here already: it shouldn't have any impact on users not interested in using MicroG, but makes it easily possible for those who are.
The effect you could see is if you have a look into Android permission mangement, you'll notice there is a new possible permission called Signature Spoofing.

MicroG is a drop-in replacement for the Google Services, aimed to replicate as many interfaces as possible in the most data protective way possible. This works for many things, but not all. So if you want to use it, be prepared that you'll encounter apps which won't work anymore with the real Google services.

If you want to know more, have a look here: MicroG Website

Awesome, thank you. I already installed BitGapps, not sure how I can remove it. But sounds like MicroG is definitely something I would use in the future.

Yeah normally (or at least in my experience) switching to MicroG involves a factory reset, because I always had to make sure that MicroG is installed and fully working before I started installing other Apps, which register for Push-Notifications.

But: This is possibly just a bad experience from the past on my side?^^ I don't know.

Theoretically you could wipe the /system partition, reinstall the Rom, Root, etc., setup MicroG and see if after a day or two the important apps re-registered the Push-Notifications through MicroG 🤷‍♂️

If you want more details on my setup, you can reach out via private message 👋
