Hey all,

While cleaning up my PC I managed to accidentally remove a file that is critical for the virtual machine file system. I have therefore lost my build script and signing keys. Big oof. On the positive side, it looks like the microG team has updated their cicd-docker build and I won't have to use my own custom hacky buildscript anymore. Sadly, because I lost my signing keys I will either have to create an unsigned migration build or a migration zip file. Will take a look at it sometime soon when I have time.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

Black screen

Hi guys, I have a OP6 behave really strange here. I hear sounds (e.g. notification, screen lock) but the display remains black.
  • one in 10 boots: works just fine, until after some time it freezes or crashes
  • 9 in 10 boots: either black screen right after the lineage boot animation is finished. or 5 sec normal screen (but frozen) and then crash

done so far:
  • reverted to stock¹(not on Windows tho so I had to fiddle)
  • edit: clean flashed OPEN BETA on both slots
  • edit: clean flashed [latest build of this thread + twrp], reboot to twrp, repeat
  • tried with normal twrp 3.3.1, bluspark 3.2.x, and mauronofrio's 3.3.1-2 ²
  • edit: clear DALVIK, Data, and fix contexts, reboot to twrp, repeat this step

Note: It can't boot into OOS * after it's flashed on both slots, either. edit: Works now

Thanks for any pointers. Sorry for cross-posting.

new microg working

Hey there
just wanted to let you know that the new microg v0.2.7.17455 is working on this build https://github.com/microg/android_packages_apps_GmsCore/releases/tag/v0.2.7.17455
Just install over the implemented build. (I had a small problem of not getting a last known location and used this as a solution: https://github.com/microg/android_packages_apps_GmsCore/issues/366#issuecomment-427252345 )
- Haven't tried using a google account to login though. There seems to be some issues: https://github.com/microg/android_packages_apps_GmsCore/issues/790
@AndroidBolder: any suggestions to wait or move on to an other ROM? Would love to stay with yours =)

Hi,
Thanks alot for this ROM.
I'm making daily use of it since few weeks.
For now, the most annoying is the blurry photos. The picture appears clear on screen, focus is done, but the picture is taken blurry.
Once i reboot the phone, the photos are OK, but after some short time they get blurry again.
Any idea ?

Same bug it is legit weirdest thing ever. Also, I am on official lineage not this one. Also, weird bug was text to speech would always force close on me. Last bug is I can not get USB otg to work in lineage OS twrp no issues but it won't detect even bought another banker USB 3.0 otg cable vs official oneplus 6 otg cable. LoL I need to restore one backup notes app from twrp backup. Spent last night learning how to uncompress rename them each to .tar lol.

Wow, amazing work! Just installed it and came from MicroG with Omni ROM. This is ones of the less hassle free ROM with MicroG. Amazing work. I have installed and found that lots of Omni ROM features are missing but its well worth. Thanks you very much for such a awesome work.

Erm....Latest build came out today. It's even better

You are talking about the official LineageOS 16.0 for microG now. Haven't upgraded yet, but sure it's even better.

The problem is now, that we don't have an own thread for the official LineageOS 16.0 for microG, only this one for the unofficial (and obviously discontinued) implementation and the official LineageOS 16.0 (without microG).

I'm not sure who can and should create a new thread for the official LineageOS 16.0 for microG, but we definitely need one!

Hello everyone, I've been using this rom for a few months now and it's been running splendidly! I've noticed there hasn't been an update since April (?) and when I try to manually check for an update it says 'The update check has failed. Please check your internet connection' every time, so I'd like to know if this ROM has been discontinued.

If it has, what would be the procedure to switch to the official release (from lineage.microg.org) ? Can I just dirty flash it so I can keep my data?

Thanks for your attention!

Uuhm I'd suggest you read what we all wrote and described in the posts on the previous page and go ahead and dirty flash ;)

Aurora store

Hai, Installed Aurora Store. for login I have to login in Google. That is just what I don't want, Google! Therefore I installed your Special LineageOS 16.0
And how to use MicroG? Until now when I try to install some apps (Lastpass) it does not work because they need Playstore and Google Maps.
Updates are working fine just like standard LineageOS on my Samsung Galaxy S5.
So thanks a lot for that. Now I have to learn about your OS.

Jan

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9 (Pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

This build includes microG, a free and open implementation of the Google Play Services Framework. It allows applications calling proprietary Google APIs to run on AOSP-based ROMs like Replicant and LineageOS. Acting as a replacement for the closed-source Google Apps (GAPPS), it is a powerful tool to reclaim your privacy while enjoying Android core features such as Google Cloud Messaging.

It also includes WireGuard, a next generation secure VPN tunnel for the Linux kernel, with modern yet conservative cryptography and simple design principles. It is meant as a replacement for OpenVPN and for IPsec, and generally has better performance and security characteristics than both. It also is much easier to use. The whitepaper was peer reviewed for NDSS17 and the protocol itself has been formally verified. Since it lives in the kernel, it not only is very fast, but it is able to integrate in clever ways that are quite nice for battery life and overall smoothness. There are already commercial VPN providers offering services using WireGuard, and it is very easy to run your own WireGuard servers as well.

I probably won't do other types of builds unless somebody has a really terrific suggestion. These builds exists for my own convenience and I thought I'd share it with the XDA community where I've been lurking and leeching for years.

Features
  • Embedded root (can be enabled in Developer Settings)
  • Restricted (system-only) signature spoofing
  • microG (FakeStore, GmsCore, GsfProxy, legacy mapsv1 implementation)
  • Mozilla Location Services + Nominatim for network-based location
  • FDroid (+Privileged Extension)
  • WireGuard-enabled LineageOS kernel
  • Monthly automagical OTA updates (signed builds, https)

Reporting Bugs
I just build using the latest official LineageOS (also see this thread), wireguard patch, TheMuppets proprietary files and microG prebuilts. Report any "regular" bugs to those threads and/or Git pages unless you're sure the problem is unique to these builds.

Initial installation
NOTE: TWRP gets replaced by the stock recovery every time you install a ROM zip. Either use fastboot to boot TWRP or flash the TWRP zip file every time after you flash a ROM zip.
OnePlus firmware must be installed on your device on both A/B slots. Hence the instructions below tell you to flash OxygenOS twice.
  1. Wipe system, data and cache.
  2. Flash latest OxygenOS using TWRP.
  3. Reboot to TWRP
  4. Flash OxygenOS again using TWRP.
  5. Reboot to TWRP
  6. Flash the newest build using TWRP.
  7. Reboot to TWRP.
  8. Flash the newest build using TWRP again.
  9. Reboot and enjoy!
OTA Updates
For OTA updates, use the built-in Updater app. Everything should JustWork(TM) without any TWRP/recovery magic.

Downloads
https://lineage.darwinkel.net/builds/full
Delta/partial updates are not supported.

I recommend Aurora Store if you want to download and install apps from Google Play.

You can find more information here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/guide-microg-oneplus-6-source-ligthway-t3874469/

Regarding Aurora, you can switch to an anonymous account. You need to click in the middle somewhere (can't remember exactly where but if you try you'll find it).

Hey all, am still alive. It's been a while since I last checked the XDA forums (turned off email notifications). I try to do monthly builds that include the respective security patches.

Is battery life comparable to stock?

After installing the blu_spark kernel on this ROM with default configs, battery life has improved greatly for me.
