I also have just bought a Mi Mix, and coming from a Mi Max with RR5.8, now I am considering RR5.8 or RR6. But also I wonder if it's best to stick to Epic Nougat ROM where everything should be stable and working...

My main doubts about RR6 and hope someone can answer are:
- NFC
- Proximity sensor in calls
- audio quality in calls (with Dolby Atmos in Magisk)
- Selfie camera
- Face Unlock
- Gcam
- SOT and battery in general

RR is by far more customizable, and if everything is working Ok I have no doubt is my favourite ROM, even if it consumes a little more battery.

I answer myself ;)
- NFC: Not tried it yet but I guess it should work
- Proximity sensor in calls: Not working, but you can manually turn off the screen by double tapping the status bar.
- audio quality in calls (with Dolby Atmos in Magisk): Sound is Ok. I can't install Dolby in Oreo, but I can install Viper4Android.
- Selfie camera: Ok
- Face Unlock: Sometimes works, you just need gapps nano and up to use this and Google Assistant.
- Gcam: Love it
- SOT and battery in general: I'll have to wait to make a conclusion, I've been using it extensively with Whatsapp migration, google photos update, etc. and it doesn't seem to last as much as with MIUI.

I hope I can dirty flash the following updates because even with Titanium Backup, it's a lot of time wasted setting everything up.

I find it works great with TB. The only hassle is to regrant all the permissions.

NFC works, just paid for my lunch with my phone.

Sot: not great after the last update but not terrible either.

What exactly do you recommend to improve call sound?

If we don't want magisks which SuperSU zip can we flash. I would rather use SuperSU just my preference..

Gavin, great work!
Only 4 things missing:
1. There is no function to screen-scaling by some button of Smartbar (in Smartbar settings),
2. There is no icon for ”system profiles" in quick settings (this icon show which profile is actually in use and you can change the profile by click this one).
3. How to add weather provider? This from lineage os doesn't work.
4. During calls proximity sensor not working (screen is always active).

Is any chance to add this functions in next release?
Or maybe I can add this manually?
By the way, good and stable ROM.
Regards.

1 and 2 depend on rom source, not on the maintainer. If guys at RR don't add those things you can ask them on their official channels.

3: no clue :p

4: proximity is not working on any oreo rom yet, only partially and with audio problems during calls in Cardinal right now. I am sure Gavin has stated as much somewhere in the thread.

Regrant all the permissions + Deny permissions to boot on startup, run in background, etc., customize all the RR options, Quick Actions redesign, smatbar redesign, Magisk and Xposed modules... for me it can take hours.

I wonder if my SOT is low because I have many apps and customizations. For example Smart Task Launcher to use the phone with just one hand easily, but it overlays in the screen all the time and Android system notifies me it's using battery.

As per sound, I couldn't install Dolby Atmos in Magisk, it looks like it's not supported in Oreo. I could install Viper4Android module in Magisk, but it doesn't seem to work. I think it needs SELinux Permissive. In my Mi Max with RR5.8 I only could make it work this way. The sound really improves in clarity and loudness but I'm not sure if it's worth the security breach and extra battery.

Are there any benefits SuperSU has that magisk doesn't offer?
As far as I know, there isn't any added benefits.. Just like I said, it's my preference that's it..

I found a bug, it's in customizations this may have already been reported, if it has my apologies. Under customizations, quick settings, portrait mode if you toggle the portrait columns all the way to zero it screws up everything screen goes black. I'm having to completey wipe and start over.

hi
anyone else having camera crash issues? i cleared the cache as suggested in TWRP - still an issue several times a day - any ideas?
another thing i noticed that was also a problem in the 7 build - background programs don't seem to respond except for a few news related ones - things like dropbox (photo sync) and outlook mail and some messaging apps do not notify me of incoming messages until i run them - any ideas there?
thanks
brad

Ummmmmmm no, nobody sets it to zero the default is 3
Ok, after I flashed the rom and after I got it set up, I went into customizations and proceeded to mod my device and when I came to quick settings I noticed that landscape and portrait was all on zero, I thought that was odd so I put the slider in the middle on portrait only which is default, I took the slider back down to zero which was were it was before I toggled it to default, which is halfway. That's when i got the black screen and had to wipe data and start over. I can take a video of what I done this evening if you don't believe me and show you exactly what I am talking about, in case you don't understand what I'm trying to say. I think that zero shouldn't even be an option it should start with no less than 2, just my two cents..

Update - 27/2*

- Proximity working**
- Update to April security patch

* 8.4.19 firmware recommended

** Some issues - this is what has/hasn't been working for me in testing

- Calls are fine in/out except earpiece sound will be lost if the speakerphone is toggled on/off. Nothing works to restore it, so be aware that once you switch to speakerphone, you're stuck with it for the duration. Note, I've only placed about 5 calls and received 4 so I can't say it's working all the time, but so far no missing audio on either end/missing UI/reboots

Special thanks to @Psy_Man. Without him, this ROM wouldn't be here.
    12
    Update - 28/2

    - Fixed proximity sensor (1, 2, 3, 4)
    - Add Google Sound Search action (smartbar)
    - Add volume tones back (when adjusting volume)
    - Fix FC for Fling when pinning an app
    - Set default accent to Pixel Blue
    - Go back to generic vibrator service
    - Fix accent colour not always applying (Theming)

    Known issues

    - Sometimes it will be impossible to hear the caller (or for them to hear you) when receiving a call
    - Loudspeaker is broken (activating it in-call breaks all sound). If you value that over proximity then don't upgrade yet
    - Expanded Desktop will cause the screen to wake very slowly or not at all if you have it enabled globally (just hiding the status bar is ok)
    - Music app still busted

    REQUIRED

    - Flash twrp-3.2.1-raupe-blunden-15.1-vendor-fstab.img via fastboot (the TWRP app should work too), found here or in the extras folder
    - Flash the latest (8.2.1) firmware if you haven't already
    - Wipe system/data - this isn't optional (backup your apps with Titanium etc)
    - Flash the ROM, GApps, then Magisk (optional)
    - Wipe cache/dalvik
    - Reboot
    8
    Update - 21/6 (8.5.24 firmware required)

    - Update to June security patch
    - Camera lag fixed
    - Earpiece<>speakerphone switching bug fixed
    - Added new accent colours (gold/grey etc)

    Known issues

    - Expanded desktop wake bug (Yes. Still)
    7
This is currently the top Oreo thread for Lithium.

Would you be willing to consider building, perhaps monthly, to keep it alive? Pretty sure that there a great many fans like me who would be interested.

I am building at least once per month. I have been PC-less for a week now and the last round of builds brought more bugs than fixes, so I didn't upload. CPU/MOBO/RAM is due tommorow so I'll be building RR/AICP/crDroid over Fri/Sat/Sun.
