Development [ROM][UNOFFICIAL][pdx215][13] RisingOS Android Project v1.1

Search This thread
If u didn't flash Kirisakura that's suprising, Krispy-v1.1 is pretty meh, BUT there is good news, thanks to a tester I found out we have managed to boot v1.2 (with some stuff from Kirisakura like the wakelock blocker and SSG Governor) so the next builds should have improved battery, I'll keep messing with it for a few days and see how much stuff I can import and still keep the kernel buildable & booting.
- Dunno if 1.2 fixes this but should have improved smoothness nonetheless
- Might be a ROM bug due to the Camera button bug, hopefully fixed on other ROMs
- Same as above
- For now, try the XNextWalkman module since porting sound stuff really isn't as easy as it sounds. Needs to be implemented into hardware repo and then finding all libs that link to DSEE and then there's still Dolby and 360 to consider...
- AOD brightness fixed with v1.2 kernel (temporary fix but still better than nothing) dunno about proximity sensor
Tested some more things. Camera app freezes even if soft shutter button is pressed, so issue probably has nothing to do with hard shutter button. As far is I understand, rom doesn't check if camera app is already running or expects a different camera app to run and just launches it again after long shutter button release. This is a minor issue, it doesn't even prevent burst shooting as camera app opens on button release rather on long press. I suspect it might be as simple as editing the right config, maybe with a magisk module for now.

I'm willing to try out your new kernel if it's ready for testing.

If anyone is still interested in battery life with riceDroid + Kirsakura Kernel,
got this during my one-week off.
I admit I did not use my phone much, just to check messages, take some pictures while outside, answer calls,
but I am very satisfied, compared to Stock.

I'm also on riceDroid with Kirisakura kernel, and this is my latest usage. Seems promising. Hope the next ROM update will fix the lagging while scrolling and pull down the notification shade.
Just used the default settings of the kernel.

All links seem to point at the same February builds, and I can't see changelog anywhere. Mistake?
Initial Build had some severe bugs, and at that time I wasn't using ROM folders yet so the first build is gone (also changelog is the first reply to the post, I haven't updated Rice since they won't merge QPR2 or any more security patches and instead they'll rebrand to Arcana which will take quite a bit of time...)

sorry, how can I restore my backup from old phone to this rom? On first time booting, there is no option to choose whether restoring from backup or setting up as new device.

So another update after using it for some more time.

After my FP scanner got fixed it really solved the idle battery drain, I now lose a couple percent per hour, which I consider alright. Could be worse. AccuBattery says 4.5% per hour.
Battery drain while sleep (as android) is running is still terrible however, my phone will be near dead when I wake up which forces me to fast charge and even then I typically have to leave when phone is at about 50% or so.
Although it's not a dealbreaker (yet?) it is a bit of a problem...

I have NO idea how you guys manage less than 2% idle per hour though. Good lord.

Edit: Tasker and Home Assistant had my location in the background and seem to be mostly responsible for this. Strictly speaking neither needs it (I can use alternative location methods, such as wi-fi connected) but it's notable that the battery drain is heavily inflated on ricedroid compared to stock. Perhaps there's something wrong with the location API?

Just another update.

I'm still using Rise UI 4.0 and after some time battery consumption in idle and with Sleep as Android massively improved. I have absolutely no clue what eventually did it. After about 6-7 hours of sleep with Sleep as Android running I lose about 15-20% of battery life. This is very similar to stock. Hurray?

Did a clean build, worked as expected.

Sadly this update did break my assistant button override in Xposed edge, it seems to always call the assistant now.
Don't really want to disable the google app as I use froggy and lens...

Battery life tbd.

Also having a weird bug where google doesn't have internet.

I do see a globe with a strikethrough. Does it mean something like no location permission or does it mean no internet permitted? If it's the latter I'm wondering what's causing it.

go to info of the google app and then go to Mobile data & Wi-Fi > Allow network access, does it still show the globe icon?

Probably a silly question, but how does the "Krispy" kernel differ from the stock kernel, and can we use it on other roms such as LineageOS?

Way better battery life jitter performance and less heat, but don't cross flash it... (Unless you want to kill all device functions) Unless i make a flashable zip at some point.

I did a clean flash and it works just perfect! Currently have not find any bugs.
    Thanks for your work!
I've replaced the GApps build with core builds again, it was too buggy and it was missing google services you should reflash the new build.

I can see that the files are uploaded 7 hours ago. Is it the latest version?
If you got the ones from 7 hours you're good.

Just checking if you have play store / play services should tell you enough.

You need to flash both boot and vendor_boot images then reboot into recovery... followthe install guide.
Hello, thank you I did it successfully.

    Cheers

RisingOS is An OpenSource Aftermarket Android Operating System that aims to deliver unique and refreshing android experience.

    Unofficial RisingOS

    Code:
/* Your warranty is... still valid?
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
    */

    Notes

    1. You need to flash Stock Android 13 before flashing this ROM (61.2.X.X.XXX)
    2. If you came from a SODP based ROM, you need to go back to official Android 13 firmware, and boot until you get to the Xperia Launcher
    3. To fix the Globe with a Strikethrough issue go to info of the app which has the issue, go to

Mobile data & Wi-Fi > Allow network access

    Support group available on Telegram!

    What's broken?

    • Not all apps are installed by default, read Post-Install Instructions for more context
    • You tell me

    Flashing Instructions
(Download both the ROM, boot & vendor_boot images from the links below)

    Clean Flash:

    Code:
    adb reboot bootloader
    fastboot --set-active=a
    fastboot flash boot_a [boot image]
    fastboot flash vendor_boot [vendor_boot image]
    fastboot reboot recovery
Factory Reset > Format data/factory reset
Apply update > Apply update from ADB
    Code:
    adb sideload <rom.zip>
Back Arrow > Reboot system now
BUT If you want to flash Magisk go to
    Advanced > Reboot to bootloader
    Code:
fastboot flash boot_a [magisk boot image]
fastboot flash boot_b [magisk boot image]
    fastboot reboot

Updating from a older build (Dirty Flash):

    Code:
    adb reboot bootloader
    fastboot reboot recovery
Apply update > Apply update from ADB
    Code:
    adb sideload <rom.zip>
Back Arrow > Reboot system now
If you've had Magisk flashed before you need to reflash it again, go to the steps below the Clean Flash and do the same again, then reboot and you should still have Magisk

Post-Install: (DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE MISSING ESSENTIAL APPS FOR THE CAMERA & XPERIAPARTS)

Due to some weird ROM bug not all apps are installed by default, head over to the Download folder and go to the Post-Install folder and download all the APKs then install them manually, this step is HIGHLY recommended.
For the Camera button I suggest Installing Key Mapper and then configuring it as in this and this picture. (Screen off button detection is only available for rooted users)

The program is pretty self-explanatory, but reach out anytime if you need help.
Also, load the right Kirisakura kernel, there are different ones for different Android versions (11,12,13).
Oh, yeah, when I posted that I had already succeeded.
It refuses to install 12, don't ask me how I know.
I'll chime in half a day to let you know how it performed with sleep at least.
