Let me rephrase my question from above: What's the date of the security patch on the latest ROM (from GartimusPrime)?
Only @GartimusPrime knows for sure; one can assume 1Q19 or earlier given post dates.Let me rephrase my question from above: What's the date of the security patch on the latest ROM (from GartimusPrime)?
Unless you are targeting a specific fix conversation is academic. This device has a short life with few updates. Risks far outweigh potential benefits which appear to be nil.https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...4-qualcomm-t3690156/post79344917#post79344917

Plenty of posts on this thread refer to the "radio" or "baseband" being updated at a certain point and then being non-downgradable. To my knowledge, these are parts of the stock rom and parts that get updates via various OTA updates. At a certain point it seems that upgrading them beyond a certain point would break Lineage (which does not contain the radio or baseband - I don't know if those are one and the same or two separate things, but Lineage only contains 'boot' and 'system' images), though it's hard to tell what exactly the details are from going back through the history of this thread. Just do a search for "firmware" on this thread and you'll see a bunch of posts. The two referenced above are just two examples.
I know it's hypothetical, but I've wondered because I have at times thought of using the stock rom with the magisk mods or whatever other framework, and wanted to know if I would have to be careful not to accept any OTA's if I ever wanted to go back to Lineage.Unless you are targeting a specific fix conversation is academic. Last OTA was July 2019. I think you're safe. I never moved away from stock on my E4s as I saw no advantage to Lineage on this platform. Moto ROMs are clean, stable and generally well behaved.I know it's hypothetical, but I've wondered because I have at times thought of using the stock rom with the magisk mods or whatever other framework, and wanted to know if I would have to be careful not to accept any OTA's if I ever wanted to go back to Lineage.

Indeed. I just like the features like status bar brightness control (just have to press and hold on the status bar), the fact that it doesn't have as much of the google bloatware (using opengapps pico) and probably various other things that I don't even think about/remember now. I also never learned how to use magisk or other mods well enough to reproduce the things I like about Lineage and also never figured out how to get Trebuchet (Lineage's launcher) on stock.Last OTA was July 2019. That is for a different model, it's possible it's only for the mediatek variant of the device, the one i posted in my comment before this one is from Gartimusprime and I am using it as my main driver, it works with 0 issues and is ridiculously smooth. the system partition has about 2-3 gigs of space so you can fit that and full aroma gapps (though you wouldn't need it). also I'm using an addonsu package since i was having weird issues with Magisk so I'm using LineageOS' integrated root. but you cant make it work without the addonsu for apps only adb so I'll post it here too, it must be enabled in the developer settings. Is it worth it to install?
Also is this okay for xt1766?
also here.. lol after installing the one above i reboot i only see n/a since like 10 minutes. while phone being warm/hot that could mean something is happening or is it just the screen? which how the phone started since i unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp. but n/a was gone within a second or a few more.
i remember lineageos first boot takes long bc that's how android is, but i remember it "being stuck" at the lineageos logo and the running little circles below it.
should i just install the one from this post?
i wanted to have oreo though...
