SlimLP for S4 mini (GT-I9190 + GT-I9192 + GT-I9195)​


SlimROMs is a custom android operating system. The main goal is to offer users a slimmed down but still feature rich alternative to other android operating systems.

The entire SlimROMs team work together to bring you this tailor-made beauty straight from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code.

All of the sources can be publicly viewed through GitHub and you can stop by the public Gerrit to submit patches of any type.

SlimLP is the project name for SlimROMs based on Android 5.0+ and offers the following unique SlimROMs features :

FEATURES :

-> The real dark Slim : Invert the whole ROM including Gapps with one click.
-> Slim Recents : A complete replacement of the AOSP recents screen to allow better multitasking, along with marking favourite apps.
-> SlimPIE : Based on CM's PIE, inspired by PA's PIE with a light touch of Slim. A true community feature.
-> Slim dialer : A full replacement of the official Google closed source dialer with added features.
-> Privacy guard : Disable unnecessary permissions set by app developers.
-> Shake Events : Shake your device to launch apps or secure it on lockscreen.
-> Notification reminder : An easy way to quickly set short reminders to show on the notification drawer.
-> Notification drawer and and lockscreen shortcuts : Access your most important apps from everywhere.
-> Custom Quick Settings Tiles : Why just settings? Use whatever you want.
-> Camera : Discover SlimROMs team unique Camera feature...

INSTALLATION : to install this ROM on your Galaxy S4 mini 3G/DS/LTE you'll need this checklist to be all checked ;)

  • LP enabled custom recovery : regular / Philz CWM or TWRP...
  • My SlimKAT ROM file...
    -> If you are coming from stock ROM please do a full wipe (cache/dalvik/system/data) from recovery before flashing it AFTER having done a FULL NANDROID BACKUP, thank you !
    -> If you are coming from another AOSP ROM, you can flash it AFTER having wiped cache/dalvik...

BIG RED WARNING : i am not too familiar with LP custom ROMs flashing yet ! Please double check proper procedure before doing so ! Thanks !

OPTIONAL : you can use any AOSP GAPPs if you want to have Google Play services...



DOWNLOADS :

=> This ROM is DEODEXED : if you want to ODEX it (better battery life and better system wide responsiveness), then i do recommend that you use @MatrixDJ96 ODEXER tool available over here ! ;)


=> INFO : as i do not own a S4 mini anymore each upcoming update for both devices will be UNTESTED by myself...

-> In SlimKAT root access had to be activated like this : navigate to 'settings/developer options' and disable it, then go to 'settings/advanced settings/superuser' and set root access to 'apps/adb' (this will re-enable 'developer options' AND you will gain root access)



INFO 1 : CURRENT ROM FILES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE FROM THE DOWNLOADS TAB OF THIS PROJECT (at the top of this post) !

INFO 2 : you will find screenshots of this running ROM file from the corresponding tab of this project too...

Confirmed booting ;)
Issues spotted so far: default DPI seems to be way off. Even after changing the DPI several times it never looked like it did before.
Default buttons settings don't match the device's button layout (long press for recents had to be enabled!)
ROM feels light and very fast.
I did not have the time to test further, but at least you know it works! ^^

Well, thank you for reporting back ! :good:

It does not surprise me for the wrong DPI, even if it is properly set in the 'build.prop' file of my installers because i've seen several other items in it affecting DPI and it was set to '200' vs. '240' but i was not sure of it... And Yes ! Default button layout has to be adjusted to fit hardware keys ! Thanks for confirming this ;)

What about 'SAMSUNG Doze' ?! Anyway it should not be working...

Again Yes ! ROM is light and fast BUT please wait to run it with @JustArchi build optimizations for LP applied : it will certainly 'rock the house' :p :good:

Finally i really appreciate that you did submit some screenshots, attaching them to OP right away !

After full wipe , got stuck during boot logo. So i repartitioned from F2FS > EXT4, then it booted.
Its fast and light, also with rebooting ( compared to other roms)
Besides the DPI and hardware buttons, no problems yet.
Just missing themes and more status bar tweaks, but those will be implemented in next builds, right ?
I will try it for few days.
