Incorrect. When I tried as you said last month, I didn't succeed.

The addons dir may be broken for some reason (installing with an old version of TWRP has been known to break things). First update TWRP from twrp.me and then wipe your system partition and install latest ROM + Gapps + Magisk. This should then be a working configuration (and you will not loose your data).

Kind regards,
Danny

Hi,

This is the support thread for the official lienageos version, the versions earlier in this thread are unofficial, old, and not maintained. Essentially the official version is the latest version of this ROM.

Regards,
Danny

@danwood76 & @Stricted: why does this thread's title say "[ROM][UNOFFICIAL][s5neolte]" @ the present when it's now official as one can see in https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/s5neolte ?

Just asking because I was thrown off while searching for official LineageOS for s5neolte.

Also the download links in the OP say mega.nz.... instead of https://download.lineageos.org/s5neolte

Anyway thanks for supporting this device & being active in this thread. 👍

Because we are both lazy :D

Also with the new XDA I can't edit this thread anymore and Stricted is busy with other stuff.

It's been official for a while (probably since after this thread was last updated).

Danny

Hi,

Some tags might not be compatible depending on the manufacturer of the tags, this would be the same in stock are you able to test there?
Thanks for the reply. I don't have other NFC tags to test. Different phone detected these tags, and my phone detected another phone via NFC.

What battery are you using? With my S5 Neo with an aftermarket or a counterfeit battery that I was previously using, both for the non-Neo Galaxy S5, no NFC tags can be detected, but it can be used with some NFC devices (phones and tablets with NFC functionality), however, with an original Samsung battery with model EB-BG357BBE forced into the battery connectors of my S5 Neo, NFC works perfectly fine, and all of the tags I've tried that couldn't be detected with the batteries for the non-Neo Galaxy S5 are detected and can be read and written. It seems that there's a difference in NFC coils, or something, between Galaxy S5 and S5 Neo batteries that makes NFC not work fully with S5 batteries in the S5 Neo. If you're using a battery for the non-Neo Galaxy S5, that could be why your NFC tags aren't detected by your phone.

I have 3 different batteries, they all say "SAMSUNG", and are types EB-BG900BBE, EB-BG903BBE. I am not sure (I inherited the phone :) ), but at least one of them should be the original one. I tested with all 3, none of them works.

It might be that these tags are just not compatible :(

Hi,
It's been years since I last changed the ROM on a device. Since the device I want to tweak is a Samsung S5 Neo (SM-G903F) I figured I might as well start with this OS.
I follow the directions on this page: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/s5neolte/install
I have succesfull run heimdall print-pit. I'm a bit stuck on this part: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/s5neolte/install#installing-lineageos-from-recovery
It tells me
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed.
this twice and then
Installation aborted.
The heimdall cmd gives the feedback: Total xfer: 2.00x

Any tips where I went wrong?

Did you install LineageOS recovery with Heimdall?

From LineageOS recovery you then install the ROM via ADB sideload.

TWRP is a bit more user friendly, you can flash that in the same way as LineageOS recovery.

Danny

Totally fixed it. I think I never arrived in the recovery menu. Volume down or up is hard ;-) I succesfully loaded the linafeos & gapps now. Many thx for the OS and the support!

Hey guys.
I would love to try this software on my old s5 neo. But after i flashed it and rebooted, the phone gets stuck on the Samsung splash screen on start up (waited about 3 hours).
I followed this method: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/s5neolte/install. Everything seemed to go smoothly. TWRP works fine. I've tried a few different build versions. Also loading form sd and sideload. I didn't backup the original so don't know if i can go back to stock android.
Anyone have any ideas?

Were you running the latest stock version before you flashed lineage? Did you follow every instruction (format system/data is key). Running the latest TWRP?

Lots of things can cause boot issues.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I appreciate the advice.
Ah, the stock android was 5.1 before flashing lineage as i did a full factory reset. Do i need to try to get back to using stock android and update to 6 before installing? If so any tips on the best way with no backup?
I definitively have the latest TWRP and have been following every step with the formatting.

Yeah, you need to have Android 6 bootloader before flashing LineageOS
If you dont, it will bootloop just as you said

Thanks. I Managed to get lineage running yesterday. I am really impressed with it so far. Seems like it should be way more mainstream than it is.
If anyone else runs into this problem, i got back to android 6 by using a frija download. Then flashed it onto the phone with odin. Then repeated the original instructions for installing lineage.
I had no prior experience with this kind of thing, but the instructions on the download sites were pretty good. Once i found the right software it didn't take long to do.
Thank you again for the help/work on the OS.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo
First of all : Thanks to the guys who're providing and keeping this good work up! Thanks for your time and effort, gentlemen! (y)

Now, I bought a second-hand S5 Neo (for a nice and low price of course) and want to install LOS 17.1 as soon as I get my hands on it. I'm no expert in this area, but as far as I've understood the procedure is like this:
  • unlock developer mode / options
  • download Samsung USB drivers and Odin
  • start the S5 Neo in Recovery / Download mode (Vol Down + Home + Power)
  • Install USB drivers and start Odin, then connect the mobile to PC
  • install latest TWRP, after successfully having installed it, remove mobile
  • use TWRP (Vol Up + Home + Power) to first format data (Dalvik / Cache / System)
  • finally install LOS 17.1 zip from SD card
Have I gotten that right so far? (I hope so at least)

I have an important question though: my last mobile (Samsung Galaxy A5 2017) had a very weird glitch I've never seen before on any of my Samsung mobiles: I had LOS installed on it and it ran flawlessly and perfectly until yesterday. While watching a video, my screen suddenly turned black. After that, it just kept rebooting and rebooting (the screen that appears when you power on your phone). I could access TWRP, but couldn't do anything to change that rebooting glitch (and yes, I tried every option (in TWRP) I could find using Google, but nothing helped. Seems like the A5 is broken / bricked)

To prevent that nasty glitch on my S5 Neo I'd like to do a backup of my stock rom (I think it's Android 5.0.1). Is TWRP enough for such a back up or do I need another (additional) app to make a backup that allows me restore my mobile in case of such a glitch / problem?

Kind regards,
Cpt. Rogers

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 17.1 (Q), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Allready found it in your and @danwood76 signature. ;)

Donated a few bucks for more coffee. ;)

Any plans to go official? And if so, would it be possible to switch dirty from the unofficial builds? I'm very happy with the official LOS 16 atm, using my S5Neo as business device.
