Encryption is not working. It goes in to bootloop for me...
Maybe that should be added to the titlepost.

Based on this information from the LOS 17.1 build thread:

I thought it worked, seems like android Q on J5 doesn't support encryption, i will put it in bugs list.

I conclude encryption might work when using your first /e/OS build, as it is not Android Q based?
I am talking about this build: e-0.11-p-20200908-UNOFFICIAL-j5xnlte.zip

That build is old, don't use it.

Hmm, ok. What do you suggest to do instead? I want a OS without GAPPS where encryption works for my J510FN ...
I saw DerpFest supports it - but it is old as well and not updated anymore either. :/

Comming from Stock Samsung Firmware, you need to unlock bootloader, that wipe /data, but not /internal storage

Comming from another android10-based Custom ROM, flashing may work without wiping /data

Have a try....(don't forget to backup using TWRP)
