Using Moto camera and Gallery...

Hi there,

Anyone tried to use the last official Moto Camera and Gallery in this version o LOS?

Ask, because I installed a lot of apps from Gplay Store in Beta version and test allmost there, without success...

But in last [AEX Unnoficial 7.10 - THEA] that i'ved found and installed, the video recording is working smooth and fast.

What I do:

Installed a stock version of MotoCamera and Gallery (without uninstall the ROM cam app), after install GApps and let's the GPlay update to newer version.

Hope this can help to solve the last problem to have a 100% Oreo ROM.

Smooth and fast video recording on LOS?

Installed a stock version of MotoCamera and Gallery (without uninstall the ROM cam app), after install GApps and let's the GPlay update to newer version.
Can you provide a link to both (apps and mentioned 7.10 ROM), please? The not smooth video recording on this ROM is keeping me from using it as my daily driver.

Hi, does anyone know if any of the future custom ROM releases will kill the microphone always on and recording for Google permanently ISSUE on all android phones and probably the Amazon Alexa powered Android fire stick and fire tv box?

OK...
Thanks for your work though! Really great to see such old low end devices getting official support for so long. Great job!
Just for the future: I personally - and I believe also others - would appreciate a bit more communication within a thread. Like knowing where things are and where they're going.

End of life of this custom ROM?

I'm not really maintaining that device since few months, I'll eventually announce that I'm dropping it or something.
Oh no =( Any possibility to change your mind?

Thanks, LuK1337, for all the time you put into developing Custom ROMs for the Moto G line! Your latest builds had up to 134 downloads! :good:

I will switch back to Lineage 7.1.2 official nightlies (XDA thread by LuK1337) since they provide the latest security patches: https://download.lineageos.org/thea/changes/

Edit: The latest 15.1 build (lineage-15.1-20180313_131048-UNOFFICIAL-thea.zip) has the latest security patch level (2018-03-05), too! So no need to switch back to 14.1 for now! :)

Edit2: I switched back to Lineage 7.1.2 because I want to use the MotoCamera app with video recording. I have installed 'MotoCamera_Mod_6.0.91.19V2.zip':

Hi LuK1337,

It's sad to hear this from you, and would like to Thank You very much.

Your work was good, I would like to have a good financial situation to make a huge donation so that would displace his idea of stop developing for the Moto G 2014 LTE [thea], but I would like you to know that this latest version really help me.

I'll give my [thea] to my son soon, and very proud to have Android 8.1 installed on it with the ROM Lineage 15.1 that you made for us, even with all the problems, (native camera that does not record videos, "Footej workaround solves", and the immense problem of the second SIM card "that only connects GPRS)...

Sad that my new Nubia z17 Mini (that I'm waiting deliver from Brazilian post office since Dec/2017) doesn't in your works list...

Good luck with your projects...

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.1 (Oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    What's working :

    • Boots
    • RIL (Calls, SMS, Data)
    • Wifi
    • Bluetooth
    • Camera
    • Video Playback
    • Audio ( Record and Playback )
    • Sensors
    • Flash
    • Led

    What's not working :
    • Video recording
    • SELinux is permissive

    Instructions :
    • Download the latest build and gapps
    • Reboot to recovery
    • Flash the latest build and gapps
    • Reboot
    Downloads :
    Reporting Bugs
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

@Mister-v, @LuK1337, and others: I now dismissed the aforementioned last two lines from my local manifest and ran into the first actual issue:
    According to the
    Code:
    device/motorola/thea/BoardConfig.mk
the recovery partition should be 10526720 which matches the size I get when following the answer here.
However, the build process fails with recovery.img too large. According to this guide, I uncommented the whole line in order to allow for arbitrary recovery.img sizes during the build process.
    ==> BUILD SUCCESSFULL
However, final question: Is the recovery image needed? I can't locate it in the final zip which is also mentioned in the above-mentioned guide and thus I assume that should be fine. Can someone confirm that for me, please? If that works out fine and there's interest I'd be willing to provide regular builds of laos 15.1 for our beloved thea.

    Thanks ahead!
