no - not offensive - I just guess you wanted to say you appreciate his directness, because I cannot see a reason for calling him objective. objective would be a synonym to impartial, directness a synonym to straightforwardness.
But probably it would be better if you'd learn english from someone whos first language is english - so ... not from me
