I want to help you, I have the FN model.
If I do a Nandroid backup of my current stock ROM I've configured and flash your CM for testing, I can safely return to stock ROM intact, right?
I've not done this in a long time, and this is my main phone, so don't want to break it.
Keep up with your work, was getting bored of TouchWiz!

PS. I've seen Root Explorer in the ROM, I think you know it's illegal to put paid software in custom ROMs.
Yes after flashing this rom you can go back to stok rom.

about "root explorer" i work very much with it on the phone and i forget to delete from the posted version
Thanks.

NOW!!
I managed to get the wifi networks but stil cant conect to it(no IP adress)
see the images

EDIT

The wifi fix is extremely good news. I can't wait for the new build too.

Basically the only things then to be worked on are: 1. Audio through main speakers (probably mixerpaths xml change) 2. Autorotate 3. Rear camera

The rest of the force close issues etc. as mentioned will be ironed out with time, no doubt.

Exciting stuff!

Yes, but i'm a little desapointed by gapps. Didnt wont to work (not conected to the servers)
but facebook, youtube, maps and other work fine.

Slim_Stok-ROM J500FN

No worries, going to test and see after download whether wifi is functioning on sm-j500f. Wonder what could be affectimg the gapps though.

Will check when it is downloaded whether I also have the issue. I can not remember with the first build whether it was also working fine or not... I seem to remember some issues too on my side.

Thanks again

Did you pull.out the battery, put it back and reboot?

Slim_Stok-ROM J500FN
Yes. Waited on bootlogo for 8 minutes, pulled battery, same thing again after 10 minutes no change. Maybe I didn't wait long enough.

Reflashed first build of your ROM, and system was up and running after 5 minutes.

Will redownload and retry the exercise in a few hours.

edit: must have been a bad download. redownloaded and flashed without problem on sm-j500f after updater-script hack. Started up fine. No luck getting wifi up with wifi.ko method as in OP post.

You can try to flash first the base stok rom and then test build

Edit
you renamed wifi.ko or wlan.ko?

The flash formats /system so I'm not sure how this will fix wifi though. I can not use the fn stock Base, but do have the L1 for sm-j500f.

I figured out why the new ROM did not boot the first time. It was because I flashed supersu afterwards. For some reason it causes a permanent bootloop.

On a side note. I have flashed the modem via odin for the sm-j500f L1 firmware as well to see if it might fix the wifi on the new build. No luck.

Is there anything more I can try/do or any files I can provide you that might help? Wifi toggle does change for a while to on, but no networks are shown as wifi is not really on. Logcat does not really help as it is deprecated
