Finally, Legacy and the MMSC setting was the trick to gifs showing up sent to me instead of showing as just a picture. Now if only voicemail would show up in notifications up top instead of getting a VZW random nonsense text letting me know i have a voicemail. I tell ya, VZW are a bunch of dicks, pulling this kind of **** for running an unlocked phone on their network and all these hoops we have to jump through to get **** to work and still some of it not working right...(voicemail for example). Thanks again. Running US998 20b stock flashed TWRP version. Magisk 16.0 and Adaway installed.

Glad it helped. Now if we can find a dev that is uses verizon to build a stock debloated VS996 rom! When I first converted my LS998, I flashed VS99620a kdz as an experiment and it worked perfectly. The "my verizon" app could see that I was rooted and BL unlocked. I kept getting a software update notification that i couldn't put off or turn off. I was afraid that big red was going to bork my phone with a forced update. I quickly went back to a US998 kdz. :)

I sent a pm to @westwood24 to see if he could take the us996 kdz, and make it flasable like this ROM. Hoping he can.

If you were rooted, why didn't you just disable the OTA updates? Freeze the file with Titanium Backup.

@ChazzMatt Absolutely correct sir, I was a "little full" of adult beverages at that early time of the morning and should have NOT been playing with the device at all. :cyclops:

I was thinking same thing. Could also debloat using titanium. If I kdz the vs996 using LG up, but just select system, I should keep cusom recovery, correct?
I believe I unchecked boot and recovery in the partition DL choices.

Sorry for the noob question, but I'm using a B&H open market V30+ running stock 20a.
Should my device be receiving a 20b OTA sooner or later?

This is the TWRP flashable 20B update, if your bootloader is unlocked and you have TWRP custom recovery.

This below is what you are probably looking for, the full KDZ of US998 20B:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/development/us998-lg-v30-us998-us99820a040330-kdz-t3786337

[B[Full image KDZ is preferable to partial image OTA anytime. [/b] There it is, go flash it with LGUP. Use "upgrade" and you'll keep all your data and apps.

Whether LG will ever give you an OTA update notification, I don't know. I look on OTA updates with severe distrust. I always try to flash full image, and I wait until full image is available.

Hey, just recognized you from the Quark forum! Glad you made it over.

Verizon is shutting down CDMA end of next year, so Droid Turbo being used on Verizon will be dead in the water for custom ROMs (no VoLTE).

Time to sell your Droid Turbo now if you haven't!

Here's another noon question. Open market us998 running stock rooted 20a. I want to keep up with the security updates, and believe I may be over thinking this. If I clean flash the 20b zip, I'll forfeit my data and will have to restore everything from TBU. Is this correct, or is there an easier way for me to get updates, keep root, and not lose data?
Thanks all.
How about noob?

does this pass safety net?

If you flash Magisk it will.

This is just the TWRP flashable version of US998 20B KDZ, thanks to @westwood24.

Just dirty flashed over 20a. Booted without issue to find I had lost root and TWRP. Tried installing TWRP by adb and getting waiting for device in minimal adb. Before using reboot bootloader command, computer sees phone and successfully boots to bootloader, but then can't seem to see it to flash TWRP img.
Help?
Open market us998 originally unlocked with magisk with twrp 3.2.1

Do I have to flash the kdz, and go through the whole process again?
The one I went through when unlocking the bootloader? Or maybe I should leave it stock, as unlocking and routing seems to be far more complicated for me than using the bootloader unlock exploit on my old Verizon Galaxy s5. ?

Your bootloader is still unlocked.

You shouldn't have "lost" TWRP if you installed this with TWRP. Yes you lose root, but you should have flashed Magisk before rebooting. This is just a TWRP-flashable version of US998 20B. The whole point is to keep TWRP, so you only have to re-flash the other three files you probably already have stored on your phone. Here's the OP description:

This zip is created from the original KDZ. I changed the Boot.img, so you do not have to reinstall TWRP. . . [/B
I had made this for users who can not get ota's because they have Custom Recovery / Root installed

Features
*Stock build made from official KDZ
*Stock Build.prop
*Unrooted
*Boot.img modified to keep TWRP
*Remove dm-verity
*Remove forceencrypt

You shouldn't have "lost" TWRP if you installed this with TWRP. Yes you lose root, but you should have flashed Magisk and the other two files (no encryption, no root checker) before rebooting. This is just a TWRP-flashable version of US998 20B. The whole point is to keep TWRP, so you only have to re-flash the other three files you probably already have stored on your phone. So this I don't understand. I obviously didn't understand the op. Didn't even realize I needed to flash the two extra files. Why does the phone go to stock bootloader when rebooting if twrp is still there? I'm feeling like I'm going to have to install the full kdz and then install twrp from adb, cuz I can't seem to boot into custom.

Thanks for your response Chazz.
I used adb to reboot to recovery, and of course there it was. Flashed magisk, and I'm back up rooted.
Just FYI... I did not flash the two extra files, and twrp is not giving me any trouble.

    LG-US998 20B ROM
    Hello everyone

This Rom is 100% Stock. TWRP 3.2.1-0 must first be installed as with Nougat Roms. Then you can install this Rom and have Oreo with working TWRP.

This zip is created from the original KDZ. I changed the Boot.img, so you do not have to reinstall TWRP. . . ;)

I had made this for users who can not get ota's because they have Custom Recovery / Root installed

Sorry for my bad english i'm out of practice :p

    Features
*Stock build made from official KDZ
    *Stock Build.prop
    *Unrooted
    *Boot.img modified to keep TWRP
    *Remove dm-verity
    *Remove forceencrypt
    Installation
    What you need
    *Unlocked Bootloader [How to do]
*Working TWRP installed [Link to unofficial TWRP]
*When you need Root, Latest Magisk [Download]
    *US99820B(TWRP).zip [Download]
    *GDrive Mirror US99820B(TWRP)[Download]

    How to install
When you are on Nougat: Reboot to recovery using button combo or reboot app (need root)
flash this TWRP.img Download reboot and Backup Dalvik,ART, Cache, System & Data (include not your internal memory) and Boot
in to your external sd or copy the backup from internal sd to your PC!
From Oreo: Install TWRP with this guide but with this img
For clean install: Wipe Dalvik/ART, Cache, System and Data (Recommend)
You can also keep your data by dirty flashing the zip. *Not tested!!!*
    Flash US99820B(TWRP).zip
then Magisk zip when you need root
    Reboot System

At the first time you boot to system, it can be TWRP says No OS installed. You can ignore it.
If TWRP asks if you want to install SU, hit no

Here you can find my other [Downloads.] There are IMG´s, KDZ´z and more!

Magisk version? With 16.6 beta there are many problems on my h930

I'm using v16.0. It flashed fine through TWRP after I rebooted the system. :good:
I was upgrading from US99820a to 20b. I haven't had any other issues to report.
