@ westwood24 - Thanks so much for this zip! Rooted stock is the way to go on this phone, works a treat!!
Any chance we could get a 20E zipfile version at some point?

Will this work on US998 10c too?
If you have bootloader unlock and TWRP installed, yes.

This is TWRP flashable version of US998 Oreo 20D.

US998 on Nougat 10c CAN have bootloader unlock and TWRP - - but only if you use the LG official bootloader unlock code. I used that on one of my US988 V30...

Otherwise, use the WTF INSTRUCTIONS to upgrade to specific OREO firmware to then unlock your bootloader and install TWRP:

https://xdaforums.com/lg-v30/how-to/wtf-lg-v30-t3790500

If you don't want to unlock your bootloader and install TWRP, then see the regular US998 KDZ thread to update to latest Oreo through LGUP:

https://xdaforums.com/lg-v30/development/us998-lg-v30-us998-us99820a040330-kdz-t3786337

You don't say what your goal is, so I'm guessing.

I successfully installed Oreo 2a using LGUP method. Yay. Next step I want to UBL and root using the WTF method. But first, I need to backup my data because UBL will erase everything, right?

Yes. Everything will be factory reset when unlocking bootloader.

Any further questions, you can ask in the WTF INSTRUCTIONS thread.

Yes. Because if you want to root, you'll need TWRP and have to reformat your data partition to get rid of encryption using TWRP. Back up everything. Hell, back up photos and music too just to be safe. Once you unlock BL and root and get everything going, you can flash the 20D upgrade in TWRP if you wish to be more up to date. You can dirty flash it over 20a.

I think the link is error or dead. No mirrors to be found.

"OOPS!
no mirrors found."

The link works. What you are saying is right now AFH is reporting no mirrors found. Try a different AFH region server. Turn off VPN, as that interferes sometimes.

Why are you trying to download it? US998 20D is old and you don't need it. The Oreo update instructions say to flash 20e, 20f, 20g, 20h TWRP-flashable zips. They do not mention D at all, because it's not needed. There was major changes with 20f and onwards, and you need 20e as good base.

If for some reason you DO need 20d, for some reason I don't know and has nothing to do with any instructions I have written, there's now a mirror for 20d on the US998 Oreo KDZ post #1:

OK, thank you. And yes, actually it has nothing to do with the instructions.

    LG-US998 20D ROM
    Hello everyone

Sry for the Late Post. I was in a Hospital for few weeks! But now here is it :fingers-crossed:

This Rom is 100% Stock. TWRP 3.2.1-0 must first be installed as with Nougat Roms. Then you can install this Rom and have Oreo with working TWRP.

This zip is created from the original KDZ. I changed the Boot.img, so you do not have to reinstall TWRP. . . ;)

I had made this for users who can not get ota's because they have Custom Recovery / Root installed

Sorry for my bad english i'm out of practice :p

    Features
*Stock build made from official KDZ
    *Stock Build.prop
    *Unrooted
    *Boot.img modified to keep TWRP
    *Remove dm-verity
    *Remove forceencrypt
    Installation
    What you need
    *Unlocked Bootloader [How to do]
*Working TWRP installed [Link to unofficial TWRP]
*When you need Root, Latest Magisk [Download]
    *US99820D(TWRP).zip [Download]

    How to install
When you are on Nougat: Reboot to recovery using button combo or reboot app (need root)
flash this TWRP.img Download reboot and Backup Dalvik,ART, Cache, System & Data (include not your internal memory) and Boot
in to your external sd or copy the backup from internal sd to your PC!
From Oreo: Install TWRP with this guide but with this img
For clean install: Wipe Dalvik/ART, Cache, System and Data (Recommend)
You can also keep your data by dirty flashing the zip. *Not tested!!!*
    Flash US99820D(TWRP).zip
then Magisk zip when you need root
    Reboot System

At the first time you boot to system, it can be TWRP says No OS installed. You can ignore it.
If TWRP asks if you want to install SU, hit no

Here you can find my other [Downloads.] There are IMG´s, KDZ´z and more!

What are the chances of getting a TWRP flashable version of 20E?

Westwood24 has graced us with TWRP flashables in the past. Don't know if that's something that will happen with 20E. Maybe not as there aren't major changes from the 20D build.

The thing is, @westwood24 has done them for H930 (twice) , US998 (twice) and VS996 (once) . But LG keeps releasing "security updates" every two or three months - - and this is going to go on for three years... They aren't going to stop. Plus, now users of other variants are also asking for TWRP flashable updates, like India H930DS.

If he wants to skip and do every other one, I don't mind. I just hate asking him to release one every time, for every variant - - especially for phones he doesn't even own. (He has H930, I think.)

At this point I'd rather wait for upcoming US998 20F to be made TWRP-FLASHABLE.

    @westwood24

Thanks very much for the effort & hope you are well (re Hospital).

When I converted to H988 and then rooted, I also needed to flash a script to remove RCTD as well as a no-verity script.

Under features, you make a reference to verity. Does that mean those that root don't need to flash no-verity anymore?

Will we still need to flash rcdt after rooting?

    Thanks again!
I dirty flashed over 20b, and then re-flashed stable magisk. That's all. No need to flash additional two zips, as westwood24 dealt with it in the rom.

Thanks....dirty flashed over 20a then flashed magisk and all good..didn't loose anything.

I have just completed a dirty flash from 20A to 20D and followed up with Magisk 16.0.

I noticed that the safetynet check fails in the Magisk Manager. I can't recall for sure if it was failing before?

Regardless, Google Pay and my banking app both open, so at first glance it doesn't appear to be blocking anything.
For most people it doesn't actually fail, it just gives cryptic message like "No valid response" but still is hidden from Android Pay, etc.
