[ROM][v500][AOSP] Android 7.1.2 Nougat - 20171209

Search This thread
Hi, i flashed this ROM yesterday and have been stuck in a bootloop ever since. I also haven't been able to figure out how to get back into TWRP to reflash, as the hardware button combinations only get me to download mode. Any suggestions on how to get back into TWRP?

installed rom w/o gapps

hi

i have installed this rom but just to try it i've not installed gapps or supersu via twrp.

The roms goes smooth and i like it but now i can't re-enter on recovery mode.

i supposed that was an option pressing power boot to reboot on recovery mode but there isn't; how can i enter back in twrp to flash gapps and supersu ? if i press power button + vol down and when logo LG appears power button + vol down + vol up my tablet reboots :crying::crying::crying::crying:

Regards

The button method can be tricky. I get it right about 60% of the time ? If you have a computer enable USB debugging & connect with usb then run "adb reboot recovery" from a command line

hello

i've installed ROM successfully but during gapps installation always error pops out. I've tried Beans GApps with no result. Which gapps should i download ? what platform ? x86 or ARM ?

Ok I've find out gapps are for Platform ARM, Android 7.1

I have an issue with Google Play apk, its installed but when i try to open it will pop out for a second and disappeared . is any fix to that ?
thanks

I had the same exact problem. I tried reflashing a few times, different Gapps (Bean, Open; pico, mino, stock). As well as most fixes the internet suggested; clearing app cache/data, removing/readding Google account, installing from third party. Nothing worked.

Finally I switching ROM did the trick, so I suspect a bug in the present ROM. As my skills are not that advance I cant really say whats causing the bug. Anyway, below are the steps I have taken.

Downloaded LineageOS 14.1 from here: https://www.los-legacy.de/v500
AddonSU from here: https://download.lineageos.org/extras
OpenGapps from here: https://opengapps.org/

I then followed the guide documented here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/general/guide-tutorial-howto-lg-gpad-8-3-v500-t3967069

Main points of the guide: Flash ROM + add zip Gapps + add zip of root (addonsu) -> Wipe datvik/cache -> reboot -> do not install -> be patient for the first reboot.

This is the first time I install a custom ROM and wow, many thanks to the community.

Guys... To enter in recovery mode, just use Adb procedure.

Enable the debug usb on the tablet and connect it to the computer. Go in the adb folder (I think it is in the android sdk, under platform tools). Open a cmd window, type "adb devices", it should find the g pad, then type "adb reboot recovery" and the game is done!
I have flashed the 2.52 supersu zip and no problem so far :)

Ps: of course the procedure it's pretty similar from fastboot mode

Pps: yes, also wifi and sd card bugs seem to be resolved... This is AWESOME!

I had tried this, but it performed regular boot instead. No recovery.

For completeness...
Hello, can i install this rom to V507L, korean variant?
No. :)

I'd been on the crDroid 5.8 Android 9 build for years... and finally got fed up with how sluggish it was, most of the time. I've barely used the v500 for years as a result, and when I would, I'd spend 4 hours waiting for updates, etc to settle down so it would be usable. Finally went it adb shell and removed a bunch of stuff, and bricked it... ;-)

I then decided to go back to Nougat (working camera, plus I recall the crDroid A8 ROM has similar issues) and try this ROM but found the download link dead. I came across the los-legacy.de builds (I'd seen them years ago... and long forgot), so I updated TWRP, installed lineage-14.1-20220320-UNOFFICIAL-v500.zip then open_gapps-arm-7.1-mini-20220215.zip (no su, though I considered it for substratum to get a dark theme, then didn't want to bother).

I'd forgotten how much I liked this tablet - only issue was that setup wouldn't continue until I said ok to the 'ok google' stuff, but then just disabled it after setup. June '21 security patch and SELinux enforcing... impressive. Anyone else using LOS 14.1 - and tried substratum on it?

Thanks for the write-up. I found my old V500 in the closet while cleaning and assumed it was EOL because of the ancient Android version it was running. But thanks to your steps, I was able to bring it back to life. Pretty snappy for it's age and surprisingly even supports 5Ghz !
