cancro is unlikely to have full camera2 api support, since it requires major changes to device kernel.
It does have legacy camera2 api support,though.

Camera Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) provides implementations for components in the camera pipeline and interfaces to implement your own versions.
For an api upgrade you need to patch the system HAL from older system blobs. In CAF tree the camera HAL has apparently been completely rewritten.
